This guy has been around "forever", probably since Day One of EQ. He's a merchant for evils passing thru or XPing in Butcherblock Mountains since he's out of the way of legit guards and also is neutral to everyone. I just can't believe the posts here are all of those ever made concerning this guy. I've spent lots of time selling to him while levelling up various toons by killing the nearby bandits as well as the two lower level corrupt guards who purport to guard these ruins but they never do anything. (Run to them with a mob in tow and see what they do.) They have been excellent XP over the years, though. And this guy was a godsend to sell loot to.
He definitely exploits his locale since his prices are about 4x what you'd pay for such basic items anywhere else.
As I said in the subject line, it amazes me I'm making only the third post ever about this wayward elf. Him, the ruin he sells from and the two corrupt guards are part of what makes EQ so special. They just are "there" and seem not to be part of any special quest or storyline. I can remember vividly stumbling on this locale many years ago and being intrigued and somewhat spooked by the whole setup.
Same as the Kaladim Citizens scattered around Butcherblock. At least they used to be good XP if you could handle level 35 highly resistant dorfs. But now they're 100% resistant to all spells and melee and they do NOTHING other than make threats if you have bad faction with them. WHAT PURPOSE DID THEY SERVE? WHAT PURPOSE DO THEY SERVE NOW!? I gotta know!!! :)
