I killed about 30 of these and I picked up 3 whips. I also got 2 in a row. I guess I jes had the luck that day.
Whips are quite uncommon. They, however, seem to drop in clumps---like 3 out of 7 kills---then nothing for 50 kills. The tentacle whip, although not having the best stats, is an excellent weapon for low levels as it is quick and procs quite frequently.

I SERIOUSLY doubt the whips drop in unrest, I have been hunting there for awhile and never one whip,i think they only drop in Nejena.

I was camping Ghost spawn in Unrest and saw Tentacle Terror not horror I killed it and it droped the famous whip (I gave it to a low level sk waiting for ship)

I dont see what the big deal it with the Tentacle whip. It weigs ALOT for a 4/25 dam del weapon and it only has a lvl 1 nec life tap spell. Personally i would go for a gnoll-hide and stun proc. Keeps the casters at bay and its a 4/20 MUCH better. Dont ask me what lvl these bad boys proc at. I only used the gnoll at lvl 6 and then switched to barbed whip at lvl 8.

i guess so, but thats not being very creative. this whip would be good to decrease downtime, jsut go around hitting green to get the proc and you could decrease your downtime signifigantly, or so it seems

If you are going to solo these in Najena, watch out when they run. On one side they go to an Ogre Guard who is merely annoying, but on the other side they can bring a higher level Ogre Guard, plus a Magician with a pet, PLUS, if you are around 20th, a couple elementals. Big problems for a soloing player. Best bet is obviously root (or snare or darkness...), if you are a Warrior save your bashes when it gets low because it WILL flee.
Side note: in Najena, these always spawn near a wall. Get between the TT and the wall when starting melee, and that annoying push spell doesn't do much.
On whips, I got two from the first five TTs I ever killed, and sold them, thinking it was a common drop. I have been hunting these on and off (I'd estimate thirty more killed) since and have yet to see another whip. I'd say the 10% estimate is about right, but of course this is a small sample...

I am a 21st warrior and I was soloing the TTs in Najena. One day I got one whip out of 14, and the next I got one whip out of 12.The spawn rate lets me sit heal and chat and they con blue, even or an occasional yellow, only the yellows knock me below two bubs of health. Its a pretty relaxing and fairly safe solo for low 20s warriors with no healers around.

the TT's in the unrest basement would con red to a level 30 .. the ones in Najena are always blue to my level 23 necro.

I went to fight the TT's in a small little group. we were there for almost 6 hours, in which with a 18.6 minute spawn rate, we didnt kill many. So out of the 18 or so we killed, we had looted 7 whips, no lie. When i read the rare drop thing i was shocked! Great exp there also. And to the guy that said they con red to him at lvl 30, stay off the crack.

I would like to know if the terror spines are also dropped by the TT in Unrest, or only the ones in Najena.

If they usually have a slow attack delay, then can you watch for the quick ones that might have the whip? Kinda like you can see the bronze on the pickclaws in HH. Just wondering...

I'm only 16 so I can't say much about the whips but i know I can take one of these out everyonce in a while with a friend around lvl 15 or 16. I was hunting these today with my friends 34 rogue Theffree Theifknight, and 24 Warrior Janus Thejuggernaut. Anyway we killed about 12 of these boogers give or take a few...and well I just wanna know what the hell you do with the spines! ok that's it

for a druid at level 20, just solo in najena for a few levels.. these are nice exp and they're easy EASY to kill. for some reason their delay on hits is longer so you can ALWAYS get careless lightning off on em, and it only takes a few with melee.

I agree wholeheartedly. But the important thing to remember is to snare them. They can move (and cause trouble) quite easily if not snared.

Go up to level 33. Not sure on the minimum, prolly around 28 or 29. I have never seen nor heard of a whip dropping in Unrest, and I've killed lots. I believe they are only in Najena.

I would say 10%, get one whip in just about every 10 kills or so from the ones in Najena.

These are actually a good solo fight for a 20-24 necromancer. Sick pet on one, Darknes, other DoTs, then jump in and melee (if you can stay close enough) They have relatively low hp for their level. If you pull 2, Harmshield and Zone!

Heh, to say a rare drop would be an understatement. I killed these from leve 20 all the way through 28, and i still come back every now and again to kill a couple... out of well over 100 killed, i got 2 whips. If you really want one, go buy it, unless you get xp from these guys.
