Easy kill for an Enchanter

Just killed this guy solo on my level 33 Enchanter, TLP server during Luclin expac wearing mostly original-era gear (some Loam Encrusted, some quested, some cloth, nothing fancy - 147 INT and 171 CHA). Had a cleric at the entrance hook me up with HP and AC buffs, but didn't really need it.

Invised past all the trash, and levitated over to the roof. Dhampyre conned yellow. From the ceiling I calmed the namer and two static spawns. Waited for one roamer to pass by. Charmed one of the guards (conned even). Casted calm on the remaining guard and named, then pulled named with Tash.

Both the named and guard came up (calm sucks sometimes). Mezzed the add, and sent pet at Dhampyre. Charm pet had no buffs or weapons whatsoever; was a warrior-type mob. I casted one suffocate on named, and rooted him in place. Pet and named went down about the same speed. When both were at 10% I dropped charm and killed pet with one nuke. Dhampyre died with one nuke as well. Easy as pie. Health down to 85% from harm touch and unexpected add during pull (I didn't have a rune up before pull, doh), and 70% mana. Was all over before mez wore off the add.

Dude dropped the cloak. Replaced my crappy Rat Pelt Cape. Gated out before mezzed add broke free..

Was really shocked by how easy this was for an under-geared level 33 enchanter. No merc or anything special. Would have been a little sticky without pulling from the roof, but I'm sure it's doable even when attacking from the ground floor.

Hunter Achievement

So this guy is the big hold up for the Hunter Achievement. I had all the others in about 8 hours, but not the cloaked dhampyre! I had to kill his place holders as soon as they spawned for 12 consecutive hours before he popped once. Making the total time for the achievement 20 hours.

So who is this guy anyway? Didn't pop on a search of the bestiary - wondering just who's faction I'll be messing with is all.

A Cloaked Dhampyre spawns in the little fountain area with two other regualr garden mobs on each side. With my 65 Necro he went down easy.

This guy is a sk has no pet but he does HT , i resisted all of his spells (which he casts very few of) as a lvl 53 bard. I killed him 4 times has yet to drop cloak but had dropped blood of dhamphye potion all 4 times. is easy ( to all who can lev there is a very very simple way to get to the fountain are, you must be invis and lev but go up the ramp to castle ent then run onto the open ledge over bloodwolfs to left when facing ent to castle and simply run over the castle to an open area on the other side of the caste i have yet to get any adds, you need to keep lev up becuase its somewhat diffucult to pull from the wall when you cant get on it. its hard to find but its excellent and easy to escape when you get to low of health etc.)

could a 45 War Solo this guy?
RE: Solo
# Jun 24 2003 at 6:01 PM Rating: Decent
you wouldnt be able to solo him because he spawns in an area basicly impossible to get to as a 45 war solo. better off getting a few friends and working your way to his area otherwise youll be paying for a corpse summon

lol I'd have to say yes. A lvl 45 Warrior could solo a lot in Mistmoore. My 35 Ogre warrior was doing great there. And you get nice factions with bards too.

This posting cracks me up... First of all... Who has time to be critical of spelling enough to Out and out call them names,,,???

So the case in point, ( What is a MOROM ).?

"Rong" should be spelled "Wrong"

And does OMG stand for "Off my gonads"?

Now look at me.... spending all this energy being critical of someone elses spelling.

If you at the pic, you will see that this is a pic of his corpse. So obviously it is laying on the floor but the site has it vertical instead of horizontal.

camping it solo
# Aug 10 2001 at 2:43 PM Rating: Default
I broke the fountain area and held it solo with my Paladin back when I was around 50 or 51st level. I bummed an invis at zone and ran to fountain area. Moved as far from MOBs as possible and broke my invis with a root spell. Then I rooted a 2nd and promptly put the smack down on them one at a time. I kept the others rooted after the kill to spread out the spawns.

If things head south (i.e. a runner gets away), its an easy TRAIN to the zone if you have LH available or if you leave before 1/2 health.

I followed this same strategy... Bummed an invis at the zone, and ran into the fountain area... you have to be careful of the undeads lurking around there though. If you get hit, you'll have to clear everything out or train the zone.

I got to the room, and he was up.. killed him and everything else in the room..

so far, i've gotten 5 regen potions and no cloak... a fallen noble pops there also, so i've left with a noble's robe everytime.

seems to be a fairly random respawn time. first time i killed him he repopped in about 45 minutes. second time took around 4 hours.

it's a great upgrade for me. i still have a supple black cloak on.

Good luck!

Cleric soloing?
# Jul 19 2001 at 9:09 AM Rating: Decent
What level is it possible for a cleric to solo camp this guy(including breaking the spawn)?
# Jul 11 2001 at 5:41 AM Rating: Default
he spawns in the daytime WITH cloak too.
Somebody tell me whats up with the Extended regen potions that arent really extended.

# Jul 09 2001 at 4:50 PM Rating: Decent
I solo camped this mob for 8 hours a couple weeks ago. Dhampyre popped many times but no cloak.

I invised to the fountain in MM the other day, and sure enough the dhampyre was up. My HT insta-killed him, and I looted the corpse with the other 3 mobs (an add from outside) hitting me, and to my surprise it dropped the cloak. I FD'd and invised out.

8 hour camp, hundreds of mobs killed = no cloak
10 min camp, 1 mob killed = cloak

There has got to be a better way to generate loot.
does it realy cost THAT MUCH?!?!
# Jul 07 2001 at 5:29 AM Rating: Default
ok i looked at the average price... SURE!!! i seriously dont think that the cloak is worth 1600pp ?? it must be some sort joke or something... lol ... maybe its true maybe its not who knows?? well later everyon happy hunting.and my your blades stay sharp and your magic do good =)

It really depends on your server what the PC would be, though the question to ask is "Would I pay that for the cloak?"... answers vary. Your answer is apparent. P

No it doesn't cost that much, it costs much more. It always varies but its at least a good 4k. Im not gonna flame or call you a newb, but the stats on it, plus the rarity makes it a great cloak. There are better but this cloak is "uber" for the lvl that drops it, not much better you can solo for, and especialy not at the lvl to obtain.

You're right. Its not 1.6k......its 5k =)

why that much? rarity and its a really sweet cloak
