Slow spawn

There are 11 that spawn in South Ro at the camp, but they are very slow respawns (15-18 minutes), so if you are just camping for plat, Rathe is much faster.

Level range is wrong, 1/3 of them con even to my 36 druid. None con red. So I'm guessing 36 to 38 level range.

These also drop Ornate Defiant Leather Sleeves, got one last night.

Farmers
# May 04 2006 at 12:21 AM Rating: Decent
Every time I have tried to do the sand giant task with my young BST, all these mobs were being farmed by lv60-70toons. Ok I realize that farming is part of the game but come on people. At lv 70 if all you can do is farm lv4o mobs perhaps you should cancel your e-bay bought account and start over. My main is lv66 and I do not waste my time killing lv40 mobs, there is better loot and challenges elsewhere.
Sry for the flame post but am very frustrated here. Every time I play one of my youngins everything is being farmed by lv60-70 peps.

They're a good cash resource for any level who can kill them.

If high level guys are farming these guys and all you're interested in is completing the task, simply ask if you can join their group. The giants are already light grey to them so you wouldn't be leaching and xp from them. All you have to do is be in same group (or raid) that gets credit for the kill to have it count towards your task.

When I'm farming these guys (for faction and lambent stones), I usually broadcast to the lowbie channel and invite others to come join my raid. Someone in their single digits can get anywhere from two to three dings upon competion of the tasks. Not to mention, everyone gets the 12.5 or 65 pp each time.

"Every time I have tried to do the sand giant task with my young BST"

This implies you know they are part of a task... why would you assume the others are not also doing the task?

Where exactly did I say that farmers were not doing the task?....I did not. The other person who responded to my post made a good point. I did not factor in the faction significance of the task. But I never said they were not doing it.

Some of these 60+ peeps are like me, doing it for faction, since I was max KoS in the old Freeport and with the new Freeport can no longer get to the paladin or cleric guild in Freeport unimpeded.

Elites and Named Giants in North and South Ro
# Feb 24 2006 at 12:15 PM Rating: Decent
There are 2 quests you can get in S. Ro in the tents to the east of the tower, one requires you to kill 15 Elites, the other requires you to kill 2 named sand giants, one found in the south Ro camp, one in the North Ro (Brolog, guardian of the North) Seems to just be faction quests for Freeport, as neither named dropped anything of significance.

Giants camped already

Yes, they are being camped already. Had a 70 druid come KS me for the 40 plat LOL! Hope at lvl 70 I find a better place to hunt.
Drops

Killed around 15-20 of these the other day. Immune to stun, hits for around 80 and drops fine steel weaps and between 4 and 40 plat. Pretty much like the giants in Rathe, except for the immunities. Might become a plat farming spot, except only 4-5 spawn so once you kill em all, ya gotta sit there and wait for the next round. Decent exp for 40-45s

When I popped in last night, I was the only one in the zone and there were 10 Sand Giant Elites - two groups of three and four wandering back and forth from the desert's edge to the ruins where one group of three were standing. The wanderers I was able to single pull without any problems as a 43 SK; I tried to pull one of the three near the ruins, but they all came after me.
