Group composition: 73BST[~1350AAs] (main tank), 72BST[~1270AAs] (main healer), 71NEC[?AAs] and 70MNK[~250AAs]

Main tank: 22300HP and 2800AC w/ Tena, Darkpaw and Brells. Max defensives.

Max hit: 2031, low of 600, average of 958

I wasn't parsing DoT DPS from the NEC, but from the melee damage he has a minimum of 300k HP. I'd assume he has around 375k in total.

As of October 19th 07, the two 'a drachnid blackguard's that spawn still do NOT engage. They are KOS, but apparently non-agro. Didn't try attacking them directly though, so still be careful not to AE etc.

killed him with a pretty simple group makeup. lvl 75 shaman, 75 cleric, 75 rogue, bot (gimp) 75 paladin, bot (gimp) 73sk, and gimp 75 war

honestly the hardest part about the mission is the guards. They can all be singled with a little patience, but they hit for 1500 and fast. we pulled a few med to full, and pulled a few more. got kinda sketchy once but the rogue used discs and got the guard down.

For the prince, I used the SK to aggro over time, and kited the mob around until i got enough room to snap aggro him, then the shaman malis'd and slowed, i ran him back to his spawn point, and the fight was on. SK had 12k hp, 2500AC (after challenge for power) and only 60 AA, but he tanked it well enough. Kept a heal over time on him and chain casted cheals. shaman spot healed and kept slow on as well as a set of DoTs.

at like 5 pct, he went inactive, we moved out of aggro range, and med to full while he regenned. once we were full we used the same tactic to slow him again, then just burned him down using the same strat as before. easy mission just takes a little finesse.

Deltdeath 73SHD
Baacon 75CLR
Faedarr 75ENC
Athenya 68DRU
and some others...
Did they change it?

Did this today, and it was a simple battle. First we pulled the protectors, then prince. He didn't go immune, he didn't spawn two other mobs, nothing. He dismissed the pets, and enraged, that was it.

We fought him away from his original spot, where we pulled the other spiders to.

retarget trick
# Sep 29 2006 at 8:17 AM Rating: Decent
I had absolutely no problems with his retargetting trick. As soon as he went after another group member I hit ae taunt and he went back to me for the rest of the fight. I assume regular taunt works just as good. You guys have some sucky tanks if they think taunt is useless.
Need some advice

Our group consists of the following chars:

Pal 70 (~ 500 AAs) ~ 11.5 k hp
Clr 70 (< 500 AAs)
Enc 70 (~200 AAs ?)
Shm 70 (~ 350 AAs)
Nec 70 (~ 300 AAs)
Mag 70 (~ 200 AAs)

All toons wear basar/oow/don/dod gear.

The percentages for the princes emotes seem to be a bit off the marks posted by Aegishopi, especially the target switching emote (80-45%) that seemed to begin at 40% for us.

Solo-pulling the guards is no problem, killing them is a bit mana consuming but works allright. Killing the prince seems to be impossible for us: we get him down to about 40 % without too much trouble then he switches his target and kills that toon pretty fast. At 35-30 % he has at least killed the cleric, enchanter or mage and of course all pets. If our cleric is still alive by then she is almost out of mana because of spamming fast heals.

1. Our most obvious choice was to stun lock the prince which did not work because most of the stuns were resisted, only the highest one seemed to work once in a while.
2. We tried using CH and shammy spamming fast heals but that did not work, either shammy got too much aggro too fast (and got killed) or a CH was late.
3. (AA-)Mezzing the prince midfight to regain some mana did not work due to resists.

When the prince starts whacking our dps there is no way for us to keep them alive long enough for the mt to regain aggro. :(
Of course we tash, malo, slow, cripple etc. at the beginning of the fight and go max dps. We also stay in the pit to avoid having the mt run too far.
This ALWAYS gets us to 40-35 %. Then its all over in a matter of seconds... :(
We tried numerous times now - only the nec survived each wipe to rezz the cleric and start all over again.

Next time we will try to use the last guard as mt (enchanter charming it for 6 minutes iirc) and hope for the guard to be killed before charm breaks/wears off.

None of the strategies mentioned by others on this site seem to work for us. Any ideas ?

All I can suggest for that group:

get more ac on the pally to make healing easier,

sham, mage, and nec, should all have pets, and suspended ones if they have the ability, and the pet summon spell up and loaded.

Since when he changes targets, he changes to the 2 closest, 2 pets will go down, then back to you (ideally) .
At that time they unsuspend the next pets and send them in, or recast them before he changes again.
Keep pets up and on him, and he shouldn't eat through your group.

When he gets low enough, burn burn burn, then he goes immune.

All run out of the pit back to the wall.
You have plenty of time to med to full.
Then re-engage and repeat til he is dead.

Has worked for me every time I have done it (I get asked to lead people through missions a lot)

70 warrior, 70 shaman (me), 66 rogue, 70 Paladin, 70 druid, and 70 magician killed him today. We must have damaged him so fast though that he didn't CH. Easy victory.

~95%, he shouts, "If only I had time to play your games, fools. Lets make this quick, shall we?"

~90-85%, a red emote: "Prince Drillien gathers the energy to manipulate the will of the unliving".

~80-75% he shouts, "For a group of lackeys such as yourselves, I am quite impressed. Unfortunately I grow weary of this nonsense."

~80 thru 45% he used his "switching targets" emote/shout trick, but not didnt see him use it below 45%.

~50-45% red emote: "Prince Drillen grows impatient as he fills with rage". Did NOT get any ENRAGE message with this emote.

~15% red emote: "As Prince Drillen begins to falter, you notice an unfamiliar ooze seeping from his underbelly". Pops two lv.70-72 spiders that are targettable, but non-engageable. They stand there and look dumb.

~15-10%, red emote: "Prince Drillen unleashes a desperate series of attacks on <main tank>" (not sure if this was a HP% emote, special attack, or just random battlespam).

~15-7%, red emotes (2): "Prince Drillen drives himself into a state of chaos" and "the faint sound of dripping poison alerts your attention".

At this point he goes immune to attack and returns to spawn + CHs (seems scripted to occur on first burndown). He loses agro once he goes immune, so med out of agro range while he CHs.

After the 1st burn, he didnt try to switch targets or CH again for our group.

0%, red emote: "As Prince Drillen's corpse falls lifeless to the ground, you feel an overwhelming sense of urgency to evacuate the drachnid lair-- for you fear this is only the beginning."

Your task, 'The Rage of Kelliad' has been updated.

Pal 11,450 HP / 2040 AC / 370 AA's, most defensives bought up.
Enc
Clr
Dru
Mag
Nec

Strategy:
Paladin - pulled with dispel, then dragged the Prince back to his spawn point. Spot healed himself with spells and potions and chain stunned.
Cleric - HoT on tank before pull, spam quick heal until slow landed, then chain Complete heal by himself.
Druid - Spam quick heals.
Mage - malos to start (immediately after dispel), then max DPS.
Necromancer - max DPS, mind wrack.
Enchanter - slow immediately after malos (from mage), then cripple, DoTs, and mana drains (ToT, ST, Lagarn's).

Group all got into pit so when Prince switched targets pally wouldn't have far to run to get aggro. Not sure what caused it, but the last two times we attempted him he did not switch targets (although we did see the emote). Thinking it was either because the pally was chain stunning or because entire group was in the pit.

He also never 'reset' himself the two times when enchanter used mana drains. Someone under the quest posts suggested mana drain prevented that, so we tried it out. Haven't done it often enough to be sure, but it appears to be true.

Btw, he is immune to changes in run speed and does summon. Max hit is ~2,000 and he quads. He has either a spell or proc snare nuke that may as well be a root: you can't move. He dropped a nec/wiz/enc/mag head item with ~150 HP/Mana.

He did not reset for us either, we fought him on the edge of the pit to the left as you face him.

Tank was fully buffed; he's 9.3khp 2350AC unbuffed, not sure what he had buffed. Full defensive AAs.

rest of the group was bard, war, sham, magician, ranger.

Shammy kept the tank standing with help from the ranger.
