18 years later....

This mob, if killed, will take forever to respawn. He's been down for almost 6 hours at this point, no respawn on any of the night/day cycles. They sure found a way to F rogues, even in TLP era EQ servers.

This guy is supposedly a PH for Vinlius the Small (who is a part of the rogue epic) when he spawns atop that big hill next to the bandit camp. He eventually despawns and Vilnius spawns shortly after if he is left alone. Killed him by accident and took about 2 hours to respawn..killed again shortly after and he respawned in a much shorter time... so I think his spawntime might be random-ish..

a Brigand at /loc +160, -6700 is the PH for Vilnius the small. (on top of the hill)

a brigand despawns at 8-9pm game time, Vilnius will spawn at about 10pm game time.

* ATTENTION * please don't kill this mob

if you kill it, there is a 2 hour respawn time REAL LIFE time.

My sob story; zoned into WK, 5pm game time, a brigand was up, waiting for the despawn respawn to turn in robes for Cazic Quill for Rogue Epic 1.0. I minimize to verify info on Alla's and some 14 BST comes and kills him. Thanks Mistiblu for costing me another 2 hours of my life.

Playing EQ for years still doesn't disqualify people from being a noob. If you hate being called a noob, don't act like one, and don't kill this mob, especially when there's a rogue in zone, especially when said rogue is standing next to this mob.

edit ~ theory 1: 2 hour 7 minute respawn ~ theory 2: after 2 hours a brigand respawns at the next -12pm game time

Watch out for casters
# Nov 28 2001 at 12:02 PM Rating: Default
If there are more then 2 casters, be very careful and run early. In a group with 2 tanks and several casters we were doing great when 2 casters spawned with maybe 2 regular ones. Of course we went for the casters first who were nuking, but when we got one down to half health suddenly its health bar is back up, cause the other switched from nuking to healing. Having 2 tanks we each took one in hopes of stoping their casting, no luck one or the other would get a heal out and we were at a standstill, while our casters were getting pummled by the other 2 who had agroed cause of heals. It ended with a run for our lives with sow. No deaths luckly but only cause of sow.

Level 14-16 (which is what is stated on the page) would be consistent with yellow cons for you. I believe that the bandits have a wider possible range of levels, and that it's possible to see one that's a bit higher once in a great while. I see nothing inconsistent with the reports below and your observations - so I have to wonder what you are asking about?

I attacked one of these guys that conned red to my L12 warrior and a L11 or 12 Ranger. He killed the ranger and had 3/4 life left. I killed him after a few hits...ok 8 or 9 with a 2 Hand sword.

No other brigands or bandits chased me and we were on the hill by the bandit camp in WK.

Oh yaaa crappy loot for the price of battle.

I agree, brigand loot generally sucks ***, but you forget that they are frequently found in the company of the bandits, who drop the ever popular sashes that can be turned in for a 1-4PP bronze weapon. You sometimes are forced to kill a brigand or two to get at the bandits they are guarding, especially at the bandit farm in WK.

Do not you two know anything about conning? There is a thing called a Con Table, at lvl 24, 5 levels or below is blue. So the maximum level is 19.

I'm a level 30 Druid, and sometimes just for fun and a little loot, I like to decimate bandit camps. They used to kill me so much at lower levels, so now I'm getting my revenge. Anyway, I can walk into a bandit camp without getting aggro'd because apparently, bandits are smart enough to know better than to mess with me. Brigands, on the other hand aren't quite as gifted as bandits are, and will try to beat the odds by fighting a lvl 30 PC. Usually, their folly doesn't seem to sink into their heads until they get a taste of my 174 point DD, then they start to run - apparently having realized that I may be just a bit more than they can handle. The bandits just look on, shaking their heads. Usually 4 steps later, the brig is taking a dirt nap. I blow off my fingers, casually glance at the bandits - who by now need to change their pants - then I grin at the casters and say, "Remember me?"

Brigand
# Aug 03 2000 at 8:53 AM Rating: Decent
I don't see how you could solo a brigand for several reasons. First of all, it seems to be that when you are fighting bandits, evil farmers, or brigands, bandits begin spawning in the area immediatly. Unless the player had a S.O.W. and then ran a distance and then began fighting, I don,t see how this swarming could be avoided. Also, brigands seem to resist ALL spells below level 16. I have seen the brigand resist spells cast by a level 15 wizard over and over again. Also at his level, the brigand is just plain too tough for a level 12 magician.

i agree. once you start to fight a brigand the bandits and farmers start to attack. and for some reason, they can cast spells, also i fought a brigand that hit in the 30's
RE: Brigand
# Nov 01 2000 at 1:36 PM Rating: Default
actually, i have only faught one before and he never resisted my spells. I am a lev 12 mage and i took him down while the rest of my group took down all the bandits, so in essence me and my pet soloed him. He did hit in the 30's though.
RE: Brigand
# Mar 16 2001 at 9:01 PM Rating: Default
Brigands are big bandits in essence, but do not hit too hard for their lvl. Max is 33 or so without weapon. It should also be mentioned that no, you do not solo bandits/brigands until you are high lvl enough that you cannot gain exp from them.
Training Bandits to the Towers (West Kar
# Jul 15 2000 at 1:22 AM Rating: Decent
Remember that the guards at the towers in West Karana won't so much as bat an eyelash if they see one of these brutes attacking characters. If you train one to the towers, all that will happen is that the brigand will kill several of the characters resting/medding there, instead of just you. If you can't beat one and you can't make it to the zone in time, best just to stand and take your punishment like a man/woman, or at most to run to a recognizable landmark away from other players so you can retrieve your corpse in safety.

theres a bug on veeshan i don't know if it is on other servers. im a 32 shadow knight i saw this guy in a bandit camp so i walked up to him and started attacking him. i fought him for about 15min but his hp didnt go down so i harm touched him. my HT did 331 i think. when i used HT he has around 1/4 of his hp left but all of sudden his hp went full. there is a bug that he cant die. i dont know if this has been fixed. its been 2 days since ive seen him. and if your wondering why a 32 shadow knight was at the bandit camp i was there for faction
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 26 2000 at 11:44 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Conned blue and yellow to a lvl 15 Mage, so range is at least 14-16.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 06 2000 at 9:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) agro and conned blue to my level 21 paladin. higher level than 15th.

These are aggro to PCs up to level 29 anyway, long after no exp.
