Solo'd her today.

Used my 67 ranger, in a mix of intricate and elaborate defiant, nothing special. (returning player from 2001 not alt)

Resisted her AEs, Hit for up to 600, rampaged. Summoned every 10 secs or so, I just pulled back a few feet and used bow, hail of arrows and occasional fire DD. Ice DDs resisted. Used trueshot as well. Took at least 10 mins. Dropped Trident.

read this post and being a 75 cleric, i figured oh cool, this wont take too long.

I got her down to 65% before she ate me, took about 15 mins to get her to that.

I couldn't get marks to land on her and she is very resistant to both VoV and ward of reprisal.

max hit on me was about 1k.

I think with the rest of my def aa's maxed and vow rk II i might stand a better chance next time.

75 cleric here also... came across Broodmother while helping a friend so thought I'd give her a shot. Friend 41 ranger died almost straight away to AoE. I had nothing but self buffs and some clickies. Put on Poison resist etc.

Would have gone better with a C7, but had nothing but a pot. Got her to 78% before I died because I was being too cautious with mana. Mana was at about 75%. I tried to load Yaulp just before I died too which didnt help lol.

Had no problems landing Marks on her. (did the top 2 that stacked) Ward and VoV never resisted that I saw...but am sure there would have been a few.

All in all, if i went there to kill her I think I could have taken her. But I was not prepared.

12K HP
2.2K AC
10K Mana

Some Def AAs.

Pet tank
# Aug 23 2006 at 8:39 PM Rating: Decent
Did her Tonight with:

70 Mage (air pet tanking)
70 Enchanter
70 Shaman
66 Cleric

Our gear isn't the best but not the worst. Cleric was an ALT though.

Was a long tough fight, but doable.

Resists for mezzing the add were horrid so as the chanter I had to use a lot of mana. Pretty much all of us used whatever AAs we had that would help.
Did they upgrade this mob?

7-25-2006 - This mob is now behaving quite a bit differently than written up here.

We read up on her and figured with a full group of mostly 65-70 with an average of around 300 aas and gear ranging from pre-PoP to Time to the Dodh hard stuff and arcstone and what not. No one had gear on the level of Tacvi/Anguish/etc.

70 War, 70 Cleric, 70 Ranger, 65 Shaman, 54 Shaman (because we were farming tasks when we got this bright idea lol), and 58 Berserker. We really were not expecting this to be the fight it turned out to be....

>>>Spider Broodmother

>>>Gender: male :p
>>>HP: 500 000

This would seem to be about right.

>> Damage output: 1100 double max; every 20 sec poison based area >>stun (low poison)

Her stun and poison landed on us several times times *through* infusion of the faithful, which we popped thinking it would be a good idea to just use it as the night was almost over and we were pretty much done.

>> Side effects: 1. perma rooted

This is also true, but unless you do not have agro or have evac don't depend on running away to get her to drop agro because she just summons you to your death at her feet.

>> 2. spawns broodlings; these spawn only when someone dies. So if there are broodlings, someone failed an attempt.

Incorrect. We engaged her when there were no broodlings. I went up and looked myself (she's indifferent till you upset her). She started spawning broodlings at 70% health and no one was dead. She left it at 2 broodlings until after someone in the group died, then spawned another. I am wondering if deaths *outside* those engaged on her but inside the zone count -- like with Carprin Cycle mob?

>> Useful info: 1. slowable

Correct - 65 shammy landed slow after some debuffing. We didn't have tash so maybe it was luck, but it *did* land.

>> 2. if there are broodlings, kill these first, one by one; they can be pacified and single pulled. Broodmother will not agro until you hit it.

Cannot confirm on the pulling, there were no broodlings when we engaged her. It is correct that she is non-agro until after you attack her.

>> 3. very very slow regen on this mob (we had a fail, and when I died, the rest succored out, so when we returned there was one broodling, and Broodmother was on 40 % still) USEFUL!

Unconfirmed.

----

>>> This freakin thing has some crazy resist

Strangely our 65 shammy landed a slow rather early but I'm sure he debuffed her a bit first for what that's worth. We didn't have any nukers in the group to determine much else resistance wise.

>>> she hit him anywhere from 200 to 1k damage, single target ramp

The damage is right, I didn't see her hit our tank for more than 800 and that wasn't that often, until she hit 70% it felt like watching someone tank an unslowed Puma in a Creator mission - you had to pay attention but it wasn't that big of a deal...then she hit 70% and it got all weird....

She popped a broodling even though no one in our group was dead.
She then aoe'd us twice in *rapid* succession.
Then she did this butt-bouncing dance kinda like Volkara....

Then she rampaged *the group* -- she tagged everyone at least once (hit me for exactly 1100 through half completed avoidance and 1400ac) and *pasted* the 50ish shammy girl then ignored the tank to take after the ranger who seemed to get heal agro. Both she and the broodlings seemed to have as special hate for healers.

Of course this was panic time and I went to burn a 10k group heal -- only to find I had a lot less mana than I expected to have....

I've read *nothing* of this mob having a mana tap, so either you don't *regen* mana round her, or she *does* have a mana drain now which is new. The ranger and 65 shammy also complained of mana being lower than they expected for the spells cast so far.... *** and the 54 shammy was lom even though she was *only* rooting broodlings which is not mana intensive at all.

It just went down hill from there.

Her broodlings seemed to think I needed to die (cleric agro I'm sure), and with me being interrupted by broodlings or summoned by the mother I was unable to heal our tank who had agro the rest of the time.

I should point out that aoe taunt didn't seem to convince the broodlings to poke the tank and leave me be....

The 65 shammy tossed a heal on me, which seems to generate a LOT of hate with this mob who summoned him, entirely ignoring the dps of the ranger, warrior and berserker...and made shammy paste again. Pop another broodling.

From there I think the death order was Warrior, Ranger, Berserker and me -- I had *started* running when I saw the Warrior go down (figuring I could get out of her agro range and rez them....but she pasted them *and* summoned me in a feat of target switching that made me almost amused to watch in the HoTT window.

So all I have to say is -- someone attack this girl and tell me if we were just having an off night or what because I just was *not* expecting it to be this kind of a fight.

Just tried to duo with 70 bst and 70 wiz...

bst has 500 aa's max def 2.0 etc...she hit him anywhere from 200 to 1k damage, single target ramp, ae stuns (radius of it spanned to half-way the ramp leading to her). wizzy landed low-resist nukes w/o a problem, bst wasnt able to slow with 70 spell. ended up evac'ing...doable with a healer type just going to be a long fight.

BL 70 slow will land, barely...tash would help ALOT on this mob to get it to stick
Duoed her tonight, she has a TON of hitpoints, druid attack debuffs helped a great deal, low hit was 340, high 1100.
Burned staunch recovery on druid, and used servant on beast..dropped cape hehe

Kingbeard,
Do you play beta? If so, you may be experiencing a graphic "carryover" from your beta files. I play beta and I have had the same problems. In fact, when I'm playing on my regular account, the new Toxxulia is layered over the old. It's impossible for me to navigate thru that zone.

Needless to say, I'm anxious for the DoD release so I can resume my normal play.

When my group tried to kill the brood mother,
it wasnt a spider, its was a normal human shape, just that he was huge, and he was waist deep in that little mountain he stands on.

anyone know why?
RE: WTF
# Mar 18 2006 at 4:37 AM Rating: Decent
If your graphic file is corrupted (either because your local copy is damaged, or Sony's messed up something in the copy they've pushed down with a recent patch) the mobs that can't be displayed default to a standard Human Male form.

I've seen cases where Sony messed up and all the mobs of a given type were humans for a couple weeks, but more often you just need to repatch and run a full file scan from the patcher to fix the problem.

Has 100K + hps at least. I shot it at full health and hit for 1142 and it dropped 1% in health. Summons as well. Seems to drop a broodling, small spider , blue to 68 with every player death.
