You say, 'Hail, Daignal the Revered'

Daignal the Revered says 'Greetings, Human. Don't worry, I will not make any aggressive actions toward you. Look around. Do you see the bars, the guarded exits? This is a prison - a comfortable location but a cage nonetheless. I am only guilty of [one crime], but the repercussions are serious. It's likely that the remainder of my life will be spent in closely guarded captivity.'

You say, 'What one crime?'

Daignal the Revered lifts his chin proudly, 'My crime? Simply being who I am. Daignal. A Dragorn with the will to do what is right for my people, the might to destroy my enemies in battle, and the respect and reputation to call hundreds, if not thousands, of fellow Dragorn to my aid. The legions of Mata Muram have wisely decided to cage me rather than make me [into a martyr] and face an uprising. No one, including me, wants that. It would be a valiant but futile attempt to thwart their control over this world and succeed only in generating a catastrophic body count. I've already seen enough bloodshed to last a thousand lifetimes.'

You say, 'Who will make you into a martyr?'

Daignal the Revered says 'Were the Muramites, or anyone else for that matter, to lay a hand on me, the retribution from my people would be fierce. Total war. But this will never occur. As I said, [no one wants needless bloodshed].'

You say, 'No one wants needless bloodshed'

Daignal the Revered says 'Precisely. No sane person wishes for needless bloodshed.'

He plays a part in Rogue Epic 2.0: Nightshade, Blade of Entropy.

If he's laying down on the ground when you get to him, this means another rogue didn't complete his part. Just hail him, he will despawn then respawn after around 10-15 minutes.

You say, 'Hail, Daignal the Revered'

Daignal the Revered is struggling to keep his eyes open, 'Well done. Of the thousands of battles I have observed in my days, none have ever fought more valiantly then yourself. You should...get out of here before someone finds us like this. War will come. It always does. Turmoil...is life's one constant. It is inevitable. Don't...worry. You tried.'

This is a quest mob that spawns Wren Simsy, the final fight for the Rogue Epic 2.0 - not the 1.5 as currently indicated...

if he is laying down on the ground when you get to him, he'll despawn when you hail him; probably the result of a failed attempt by someone before you.

Yup, I found this info AFTER I got to him and he was lying down. He had been lying down for a couple weeks and I thought thats the way the NPC was. Hail...POOF. Was late night and my group had to disband. Rogues please end your task after killing Wren Simsy by hailing the down version of Daignal. Heck, if anyone sees this char passed out, just hail it to poof it so the Standing version will pop.

Correction: it is not the result of a failed event, but rather the result of an incomplete event. Someone forgot to Hail him at the end of their event to make him despawn.

If you fail to hail him at the end you will delay every rogue that tries to finish after you --they'll have to wait 2 hours to have Daignal respawn to his standing form.

This mob is the rogue epic 2.0 last fight. Thought I would add that info, since I did not see it here. He is behind the bridgekeeper, in the courtyard. Pos 819, pos 694. He will be killed by wren, and then you have to fight her. 4 person fight or you get an army of adds.

While running around RCoD today I found Daignal the Revered laying on the ground. I thought this was funny so I ran up and hailed him. The text said:

Daignal the Revered is struggling to keep his eyes open, "Well done. Of the thousands of battles I have observed in my days, none have ever fought more valiantly then yourself. You should...get out of here before someone finds us like this. War will come. It always does. Turmoil...is life's one constant. It is inevitable. Don't...worry. You tried.

Then I got four messages saying "A Dragorn Protector charges forth with a singular purpose" and Daignal despawned. Didn't have much of a chance being alone and not ready for that at all. Max hit on enchanter was 900 even. No idea why he was laying or who killed him. Just happened on him at the wrong time.

Hail text and some speculation

Here's his hail text. For the record, I'm warmly to Dranik Loyalists, so I don't know what faction Daignal is on.

Daignal the Revered scowls at you, ready to attack -- it appears to be quite formidable.

I can't figure out if he's saying that we should kill him, so as to start the revolution, but he's just too proud to request it; or if his text is a clue to some quest or event. There's a very large, open area with no mobs or wanderers near him, which suggests a possible staging area for a raid.

We didn't actually try to pull him or fight him, so I don't know if he can be attacked or not. Has anyone tried to see what would happen if you do attack or kill him?

I believe you have to bring him some proof to trigger an event...if you say "I want to kill you" or "Kill you" he will respond with,"you are speaking jibberish what proof do you have?"

/AGREE! Saw a yellow named on track (at 67) from up under the caves in the NW part of the zone.

Wish I knew more to tell you how to get there, but if you see the crescent looking set of ridges and go NW through a long set of turning passages you will come out and see the named above on the right (conned even at 67) with another 67 mob behind him (both see thru cammo btw).

Died a few times when cammo failed or a mob saw through just trying to get a shot at killing this guy... About an hour later after deaths and rezzes we tried to pull him ... and he is a perma-rooted Quest NPC!!! grrrr

Not sure about the mob behind him though, since we went from here to another set of caves behind him with some 68+ kyvs...nasty mobs.

When hailed (indifferent) he explains he is imprisoned, and only guilty of [one crime], but the repercussions are serious, and it is likely the remainder of his life will be spent in closely guarded captivity.

His crime was being a Dragorn who has the respect and reputation to call hundreds of fellow Dragorn to his aid. The Legions of Mata Muram have imprisoned him rather than make him [into a martyr] and face an uprising.

He feels it would be a futile attempt and he doesn't want [needless bloodshed].

Here he just continues to respond "Precisely. No sane person wishes for needless bloodshed."
