I usually see those snakes in the room with spikes in it and I was like level 25 or sumthin and I went through there and they all attacked me but my spike shield killed em all I was a druid.

Snake Ledge

The giant snakes spawn on a ledge near the water. You have to go downstairs and take a right in the intersection, go down to the water and keep going left, there will be a ladder in the water, climb it and there are snakes everywhere! The snakes are indifferent so you can fight them one at a time, and you should be able to get there fairly easily.

Just wondering...I'm not to familer with this area. I am lvl 8 Half Elf Paly and usually soloing. How hard is it to get to the area where snakes hang out? and what are my chances of getting there without getting jumped?
Good stuff

Ya, snakes are REALLY fun to get xp w/ a group. The loot sells for several gp, not to mention yummy snake eggs to snack on during any downtime you may get. Only problem is the snakes seem to be really fast to run after you've smaked them around a bit...and they can open doors. In BB, if you're chasin' one round the snake pit, don't be suprised if you find yourelf with a gnoll guardsman jumping ya. Best to get a nuker to finish it off.
Great Experience

From about level 8 to level 11, giant snakes were my primary source of experience. They drop fangs and venom glands that are both kind of valuable (4 or 5 gp), they don't mob, you can eat snake eggs, and they don't have any special powers that make them hard. Also, there are a lot of them in blackburrow. Much less risky then gnolls too.

I agree, these are awesome xp, especially nice since they don't train *grin*, wonderful for 8-11

Great for necros

As a necro, I've been soloing them and levelled fast from 8 to 10. I can kill yellow ones using basic pet strategies: DOT, send pet, DOT some more, melee (get hit and let pet heal), back off, lifespike to heal, start again. In the first snake room (where 3 snakes spawn), gnolls rarely bother you. When they do, it can get tricky tough. Also, almost nobody camp them so they're great. Downside: bad loot.

solo

Im a 10 rogue and i normally hunt burly gnolls and the grizzly when it spawns but is it safe to solo at 10 or should i stick to the gnolls and grizzly?

I was on the ledge in BB and kept fighting these with a mage and warrior (we're all 5-7, me being the 5) and 3:4 of them ran! Did Giant snakes ever run on you?

I frequently camp them with a partner, and once you get them low on HP they always run. But they come back shortly and they don't bring any help with them, so you still get a chance to finish them off.

Mobs will flee if their hp gets too low. VI recently changed it so that they dont flee quite so much, but like any creature (including us PC's) if their hp get too low and they are getting hit too hard too often then they will turn and RUN!

Giant Snake Fangs
# Mar 31 2000 at 4:25 PM Rating: Decent
If you happen to see or know a newbie caster then give them the Giant Snake Fang. Since most casters start out with a piercing weapon this is a great gift. The stats are nice and the cost is even better!

giant snakes in BB
# Mar 12 2000 at 9:04 PM Rating: Decent
I hunted these from lvl 7 till 9 and picked up that these things drop giant snake fangs (5/29 I think), giant skake glands, snake eggs, and giant snake rattes. they can hit for up to 20 but usualy hit for around 14. they can't poison. and are a great way to lvl up and get pritty good loot at the same time (the fangs and glades sell for about 5gp)
Black Burrow snakes
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
In my experience, the Giant Snakes in Blackburrow do not poison. I've
killed about one hundred of them and not once have I been poisoned.
They do drop poison glands and giant snake fangs.
