yes you have to pet pull the ones that are under water.. but there are some spawns on the NW island so just make sure you have a dispeller for the run speed and you're gtg

They really do run everywhere.
fixed the spawns

the reason you were only seeing 3 harvesters is because the rest ran off and were not chased down. i found 5 of them wondering around under water by the box in the middle. killed them all. now they should all respawn in their original places! hope this helps everyone! i lost all but one myself and only one would respawn...after so much frustration i had a tracker find them all for me! killed 3 of the respawns and finally got the melon!
where they go once they hit the water
# Jun 10 2008 at 3:32 AM Rating: Decent
Once this bugga hits the water and ya lose agro, it will end up on the SW side of the square in the middle of the water, the ones that ya can't get agro on in there ya can get a class with a pet to pull them out so ya can melee em... but if ya got a mage with ya, the pet will stay on em so its a matter of findin the mob... when I did it, I seen about 7-10 of em, didn't count cause I knew the melon was gonna take a while to get... got it on the 6th kill good luck all ya tryin to get the melon (not worth the hassle)
BE CAREFUL

Little note to anyone trying to camp this Tropical Melon. It doesnt drop often. But, aside from that, ITS A MEAL. Yes, if you leave it in your top bag (like I did by accident) it will be eaten. Then goodbye hours of camping, lol. Be Careful

Timorous Melon 'rare' drop
Soloable easily by 67 rogue
# Jul 10 2007 at 4:53 PM Rating: Decent
So I decided people had to be exaggerating the speed of this mob- I mean, I had SoW potions. This was not the case. They are much faster than you.

Hopefully that saves everyone the trouble of doing what I did and hoping everyone else was just wrong or something. Anyway, so here's how to solo it as a rogue when you don't feel like bugging a caster friend.

On your way to TD, stop by Klok G`rshai at 2212, -2912, -23 in OT. He sells Crystallized Pumice, an all/all Nullify Magic clicky with 5 charges. With decent cha, each will cost you 26 plat, so bring a good sum. It is PB enabled, so make a hotkey. Many other vendors sell this as well, but that is closest. He may not sell to good races, I didn't check, but you can always sneak up behind him.

Now, go to TD and open each fight with a BS. Do not do this if you usually BS higher than 2k, because these dudes take 4x dmg with 10k hp and that will make them run instantly, before you get a chance to dispell, and you will never ever see your mob again. I am not that good, so that wasn't a problem for me. Usually I hit them for 4k on my initial BS.

Immediately after the backstab, click your pumice twice to get rid of the speed. Then, fight as normal and they should give you no problems. Make sure to bring heal pots in case of trouble, of course.

Also, remember that whenever they start casting, you can run around and BS them.

Good luck!

Spawn
# Jun 24 2007 at 5:47 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, so heres some quick info on these.

You MUST have a dispeller. They are immune to all -movement spells(snare/root/ect.). They have a mob only speed spell that will blow your mind... its crazy. If it runs, and you havn't dispelled it, say goodbye to your mob and that spawn point. Period.

They dont hit for much, and they dont bash too often. I could solo them with my 67 cleric, tho it took some work. Rogues get a x4 BS dmg mod on these, so if your after the drop, have the rogue help. They are very resistant to magic, so dont expect to bring a wizzy or a mage in and simply blow them away. If you read down, people say that cold and fire spells work best.

You do not spawn them. They spawn on their own, in a ring around the huts:
5174.88, 1142.57, 9.75
5318.63, 1647.86, 6.56
5560.35, 1850.50, 27.81
6259.47, 1939.26, 12.12
6531.67, 2068.14, -0.69
5947.63, 1798.86, 98.29
5828.17, 1783.87, 87.79
(missing loc)
One of thoes spawns is a double, i believe its the 6259, but i could be very wrong. The missing one ran off on us, so if someone could get it, please post, i'll fill it in sooner or later.

They were light blue to my 67 cleric. The 54 rogue i was helping said it was ok exp, but nothing too great. We didn't have a slower (we were bored and i wanted to help) so we cannot confirm or deny that they can be slowed (atk speed). If someone would comment on this, it might help others.

Suggested pulling method:
1) Buff up: Ds will help, but make sure you have on what you need.
2) sight your mark: there are 9 of them. We didn't have too much trouble with them helping each other, but we did find some that healed (greater healing i would guess).
3) Pull with dispell: they have three buffs (i sat and watched them spawn). They will first cast a str or sta buff, the spell said "looks stronger" with the bull spell look. They have a Haste spell for themselves. And they have their crazy movement spell. So dispell 3 times to get everything. BE WARNED because of the way dispell works, you need to cast 2+ times to get their run spell.
4) Kill: if you pulled with dispell, cast again ASAP (theres a tiny recast wait on it) then simply beat on them. Melee seems to work best, but at 67 i could land about 1.3 of my spells for about 1/3 or less dmg. They dont have a whole lot of hp.

Suggested Group:
Melee: Any class should work 65+, 60+ for a melee class. Make sure the rogue is there, his BS is great dmg, and the 1.5 drop is NO DROP.
Casters: because most spells wont stick, its not needed to bring a caster. Mages, wizzys, shammys, and bst spells have the best chance (cold and fire).
# of people: 50's should be a full group or more. 60's should be about 3 people, depending on gears, some people can solo at this point. 65+ can be soloed with buffs NO problems. 70+ can kill without any need for anything at all. Any mage pet that can take WoS with help, can easily solo these.

If anyone has any more info on these, please post it. The more info people gain on mobs, the easier it will be for people to know what to expect.

trick to spawn ?
# May 02 2007 at 11:44 AM Rating: Decent
Is there a trick to spawning these things ? I go to spiroc village everyday, have been for over a week now, and have seen only one harvester. Have tried wiping the village, but doesnt seem to work. Tried see invis in case they were really there, but no luck. Put the 9 known spawn locs on my map, so I know where they are supposed to be. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe SoE made them rare spawns due to rogue 1.5 quest ?

Thanks in advance ;)
another strategy

I used Annul Magic(lvl 53 cleric spell) and it killed that ridiculous run speed thing of theirs. I just tanked the mob while my rogue buddy dps'd it to death and when it ran was easy to stay behind it to kill even without SoW.

Took several clearings to get stupid melon to drop too so that is still rare drop.

Good luck anyone doing this.

All nine are back and present. They also drop a lot of other stuff. Including:

Nothing - Most common
Spiroc Bone Dust - Pretty common

- rest is random and not often.

Essence of Rathe
Rune of Attraction
Nilitim's Grimoire Pg. 352

Max Hit seems to be 240. At least that is the best they could do to a druid sitting.

Seems to me as if there are fewer spawns of these now. I only count 4 where there used to be 9. Before the last patch I used to work all of them for experience while LFG.

painfully aggro pet kited by 63 shaman,

Highly resistive, immune to spells that change move speed, I don't think I landed one spell (i tried poison, disease and magic). I wouldn't of engaged him if I knew that before I attacked!

Edit: It dropped spiroc bone dust by the way.

soloed one with my 70 cleric was pretty easy, they conned dark blue so i had to try.

max hit was 250, just melee'd to death, ran at 20% hp or so, didnt try nuking.

5.8k on cleric(only had baliks on).

they heal, but seem to have low mana pool because it only cast the heal spell 1 time every 20 seconds or so. the heal was a lower lvl heal, below superior i assume from message and % of hp they healed.

battle lasted roughly 2 mins.

they have low hp, could possibly melee to death with my 70 chanter.
Spiroc Harvester: Additional Info
# Jun 13 2005 at 4:40 AM Rating: Default
Decided to take my level 67 enchanter here to get some spiroc bone dust for Susceptible Essence poison for the Grandmaster Assassin's Seal quest for my level 51 gnome rogue Graylaw. I didn't think it'd be that hard, knowing that the zone has mobs in the 40's and 50's. BOY, was I ever wrong about these guys!

I had Ethereal Rune running (1800 HP) and this guy tore through that in half-dozen hits or so. (The hit for 250 HP part posted earlier must be about right.) Smiley: frown I Tash'd it successfully, then tried to Slow it 5 times. Resisted the Forlorn Deeds every time. Smiley: mad Tried to cast Strangle on it, and it resisted. By this time, I've been beaten down to 60% HP and have gone through 2 or 3 new Ethereal Runes. (I have about 4k HP self-buffed as I was with Mystic Shield.) Smiley: yikes Starting to get concerned, so I nuked it, knowing that Insanity has a short stun portion to it also. My Salik's Animation then had time to gain aggro on the mob and the poor guy started dropping fast on HP, but with Salik's haste on him, he was actually getting decent DPS... Enough so I could mem Gate anyway. Smiley: yippee I gated with 40% HP and pet with less than 20% HP. Mob was only down to 40%.

Moral of the story is Take melee help with you. Smiley: grin Magic alone won't cut it on this guy. Didn't get the chance to try the other spirocs.
