They are a semi-regular drop off of gnoll pups in the newbie area outside of the North Qeynos gate.

Dude they look the same. The only difference is the name and level. I am sure they even drop the same things.

True, Scrawny gnolls are weak, but they've got friends. Whenever my pet and I go after a scrawny gnoll, half way into the fight, they run into the catacombs and come back either with ten others trailing be hind them (often the work of you irritating warrior classes and your freight train of prey), or they come back when I'm in the middle of another fight.

PS- I dont know if they went up in lvl or it's some sort of glitch, but with my lvl 8 enchanter they con anywhere from reasonably safe to looks risky. Now, they all go down, but if something cons risky to a lvl 8, wouldn't it be about a lvl 9?

yeah i hate their friends i can take 2 with my level 5 but when their plain old gnoll budies come i have to say bye bye. Yeah i have a lvl 8 who sometimes cons scrawny gnols risky. I think it might be because their class has an advantage over yours.(and mine)

Im a 7th lvl mage and almost all scrawnies con blue to me but they are still really weak. Me and a air pet can take on 2 and sometimes 3 at a time.

Oh and wrong pic its a Scrawnie not a Gnoll

KOS?
# Aug 16 2000 at 7:52 AM Rating: Decent
I was in BB last night and the scrawnies were not KOS to me (lvl 8 shaman). But, the odd thing was that even when they con green they still gave me XP.

Occasionally you can get exp from creatures that are one "step" into green for you and you will get some exp from monsters that attack you. The longer the battle the more potential for getting exp you have, in addition if you get attacked you will almost always get some exp... the only catch is that in all cases I have just described you will need to kill 5 or 6 greens before your exp blue bubbles will even move.

That screenshot is pretty damn wrong, that is a mucktail or paw gnoll, and the screenshot shows "a gnoll", not "a scrawny gnoll".

Scrawnies are weak gnolls (all I have seen conned blue or white to a level 6 druid). However, they are KOS to everyone in BB, arrange themeselves in groups of 2 or 3, and if not killed, will run off and get reinforcements from within Blackburrow. They loot small change, patches of gnoll fur, and a gnoll tooth for easy exp in Qeynos.
