Hahaha the evil eye i fought sucked..
# Jul 15 2001 at 3:49 AM Rating: Default
i think it could have been a glitch, but i wandered up to an evil eye that was blue to me at lvl 19 and i hit it with a messenger of the queen for 28 hit points, the thing went down like a balloon. I am sure that thay must be tougher than that. It wasn't like anyone was fighting it either, there was only myself and a fellow group member in the zone and we got xp for it. 'WTF' was my reaction

I understand completely. I fought one last night in the Gorge of King Xorrb. I only hit it for 30 points total. Dead. However, it did hit me with a Disease based DoT that sucked away 4hp per tick and didnt seem to want to go away......EVER. I used 8 stacks of bandages keeping myself alive. Mind you when Im sitting it would only take 1hp due to regeneration factors but it still wasnt nice. Its called Infectious Spores. Get a disease cure (Or a couple of them) it seemed to work.
I did get xp for killing it, and it hadnt aggroed on anything else (I was alone in the zone) Verant must not have fixed that bug.

This is a throw back to old D&D. There were things call "Gas Spores", which look like Beholders (evil eyes), but explode on impact with a deadly disease spore.

They spawn next to the Alter in the Temple of King Xorbb. Camped them last night. 2 spawn about every 10 minutes and every third spawn is one of the Lords. Not sure which.

Evil Eye???
# Jun 26 2001 at 2:09 PM Rating: Default
Yesterday I was sitting out side the ent to runnye in Gorge of King Xorbb(or Beholder maze if thats its other name) when a evil eye floated by. This being my first char(a lvl 19 ranger) I was he coned blue to me and wasn't afraid to take him on. Ussing my ussual tactic when I solo I went to root him and pump him full of arrows. But to my suprise when I cast the root spell it killed him( he had what appeared to be full health too). Knowing this was odd I checked to see if I got exp, and I did! He had no loot on him though I guess I wasn't going to get that lucky. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experiance, and also if I should stay away from them at 19 as I am assuming I got really lucky there!

What probally happened is someone was killing him and was losing so they either zoned or died. When you first target something they will show full health even when they are not. When you target something it takes about 5 seconds before the life bar moves to where it actually is. I have also heard rumors of a bug where an EE will spawn with 10hp. It has been awhile since I have heard anyone talk about it so I think Verant may have fixed that.
Runnyeye EE
# May 30 2001 at 8:28 AM Rating: Default
I am a level 19 Ranger and pretty well "TWINKED". Another twinked Ranger from my guild decided to make the run to Runnyeye from HighPass Hold last night to try and get some of the 20% EXP bonus and got our butts kicked. The first time we went down into an EE room. I was dead before I could try and strike.( I guess we went down the wrong way. We had been fighting Blues and Reds for an hour or so all over the place with a druid friend and another Ranger. We couldnt get any where with this EE. My advice STAY AWAY!! It will beat you to a pulp with its DD, pet and Charm. If you think its so easy to kill go down to the second level in Runnyeye and fight it and you will be on a corpse run just like me.

Before you talk you need to read. The optic nerves are for the Bracers quest but the Dwarven runes are for the pauldron! You have to get all 3 pieces of the rune.

Level range
# May 27 2001 at 6:46 PM Rating: Decent
The level on these vary by zone. The ones in Beholder always con green to my level 28 but I still get exp sometimes. The ones in Runnyeye on the other hand con white at their lowest level. There are still some in there who con red.

# May 24 2001 at 8:11 PM Rating: Default
I saw someone selling the bracelet in Gfay for 120pp and I wanted one but I decided I try to get one myself first. Found an Evil Eye in EK near the gorge to Beholders right away. He and his pet con'd green. Took them out w/ half mana left and 4 bubs of health left. Bracelet dropped right away. Good deal.

first off lvl 17-21 "might" be the right range for this mob. But if it is, they have some realy good buffs! I have only "tryed" to kill evil eyes in runnyeye. First time in RE tryed to solo and just maid it to the zone w my life (at lv 28 i think). Then I had someone split the spawn (2 or more dazed goblins and such hang out there) and it still beat the hell out of me! My buddy (of high lv) jumped in and saved me. I have gone back to Runnyeye at lest once every lv sence then and still can not kill it by myself (31 now). Thats a diff of ten lv's ....... uh can this be right? I can understand why it should be a hard spawn cus of the items you get from it. Its just when i come here i would like to get some info on a mob thats kinda close....(other then it charms). I would say that the one in runnyeye is about lv 30.. more or less..

I say name or class these as EK, RE, MZ.. cuz, if you cant tell they are very different depending on the zone.

As for all you people who have killed evil eyes in EK at lv 27..... go up to runnyeye and fight one and come back here and post your "I just rooted him" post......... after your corpse run!
GOOD LOOT
# Apr 26 2001 at 12:28 AM Rating: Decent
As a level 26 paladin i was going through east k and saw one so i attacked and killed him. He has a few good offensive spells. I was able to bash him to interupt most of the spells. When i looted him he gave a Polished Bone Bracer or bracelet i cant remember(it goes in the wrist slot thats all i know), Evil Eye Eyestack and ivory. Do they usually have loot this good. If so this guy is worth camping. His pet didnt pose much of a problem. i just rooted him.

I've killed at least a dozen EEs in EK, and never gotten loot other than a gem and decent coin. If the ones in EK drop PBBs or anything else, it's very rare. Those I've asked are of the opinion that you have to go to the Gorge for the special loots.

I was farming spiders in EK and came across one of these. I decided to kill it because I rarely find cool beasties that I can kill (being a cleric and all). I got a gem of some sort as well as a str 5 ring (which I gave to some newbie in the area). I don't know how rare those things are, since I haven't found another one to kill yet.
RE: GOOD LOOT
# Aug 19 2001 at 12:13 AM Rating: Default
Just a correction,Evil Eyes DO NOT DROP STR+5 rings. You probably got the Onyx Ring, which is a HP+5 ring. There's a big difference. Most of the EE drops are awful considering their level, and PBBs and optic nerves seem very rare in EK.

I should hav elooked here before attacking an evil eye. Well me (31st warr) and a friend of mine (22nd Wizard) had some big probs. Well we attacked the eye which unfourtunately had a pet. Well I was doing ok but my Aerrie, wizard friend, couldn't get a spell off. Then the big prob came when I was charmed, fearing the worst she ran. Now I had a Runed Bone Fork in my range slot, 1000 platinum of death flies at her and out of my pocket. The eye finishes her off but when I break charm I kill the eye. Bad day... no lewt. It sucked.
kinda easy

i fought this thing yesterday with my lvl22 shadow knight and a 23 paladin. We had a pretty easy time killing it and the paladin lost about half his HP and i only lost about 25 hp. Of course i guess that harm touch(231 dmg) at the starting of the battle helped also. The only thing that sucked was we ddnt get any loot.
Anyone have this happen to them?
# Mar 19 2001 at 3:40 PM Rating: Good
Hello, I am a Lvl. 27 warrior, I have saved, and bought, and traded my way to having some decent equipment. Better then most my lvl. Anyway, I was in a group heading to the Pass when we see the EE. So we charge. Of course the thing hate's me since I am hitting hardest. Anyway, here's the condensed version. I get charmed take out most of the party, the rest run, I finally break free, start running up the ramp, get charmed again and am forced to walk over side of Ramp and die. This sucked. So one sugestion, when running away, unless there is a pet to give you time to run, or you have SoW, run to NK, no long drops there. =)

I have been forced off the ramp 3x now, so I know what I'm talkin about.

Yeah you could. Only problem is that he's an enchanter and usually walks around with a pet that is blue to him. He can charm you, but if you can resist the charm, he should be no problem.

RE: Me
# Apr 10 2001 at 7:24 PM Rating: Default
Whether or not you (or a mob) resists a spell depends on a couple of things:

1) Level difference. If the mob is higher level than you, it has a greater chance of getting its spells to work on you, all else being equal.

2) Resistance. In your character information window, you can see your resistances to fire, cold, magic, poison, and disease. Charm and Mesmerize spells are considered "magic" spells, so the higher your magic resist, the better chance you have of resisting all or some of the effects of a magic-based spell.

Keep in mind that some mobs and PCs have spells which lower one or more resistances. If a mob casts a spell on you which lowers your magic resistance, and then casts a charm spell, it has a better chance of getting the charm spell to work. Sometimes these resistance-lowering spells can themselves be resisted, and sometimes they cannot. It really varies from spell to spell and class to class.

i dont know from experience i have had limmited contact with evil eyes. and the one time i tried to fight one i died got hit with something for upwards of 500 hitpoint of damage. CANCEL MAGIC!!! from what every one says you really dont wantto fight these things buffed any way
and cast some thing like invis in the first buff slot and then delete the effect so when they charm you its in the first slot and waiting to be canceled. i could be off here but its an idea and would simplifie things if it works

I am sorry, but I am gonna have to call you on this one. When you are charmed, the creature that charmed you only has access to the spell in the eighth, or last, slot. Therefore, the EE could not have cast all of your spells on you and your friends.
RE: dougie the lil druid with power
# Jan 31 2001 at 7:04 PM Rating: Default
Not true, I have been charmed many a time, and the NPC can force you to cast any of the spells you have memorized, in addition it appears that "self only" spells can be used as targeted spells when charmed. Additionally the charm AI picks your most powerful dd spell and seems otherwise fairly intelligent about choosing which spells to cast. And yes, the first post was barely coherent but was really funny for some reason.

The runes for the crafted shoulders drop off the EE's in Runnyeye. I"ve never seen them drop off of Borxx. She drops the lens for the staff of the observer quest. The EE's in the gorge and in EK drop optic nerves , PBB's and such. 2 of the 3 runes of Dwarf are droppable and 1 of them is no drop. The annoying thing about camping the EE's in RE for them is waiting to get all 3 pieces. You can get lucky and get all 3 bam bam bam or you can go hours waiting for that last missing piece to drop.
