Camped this for my lowbie bard. Being that is a recommended level and not required its useful even at low lvl. When I first got there was 3 placeholders. Killed them and next set of spawns he was up. He had the ring and of course fabled belt.

Camped him for my freshly created rogue alt. Took all of two spawns before he showed up. I had my 61 SK tanking and my 61 Sham box with me. SK Had healer merc and sham and melee dps merc. Started by pulling him into safe hall where I logged my rogue at. Hit him with malo/slow/cripple and it was a breeze from there on out. Max hit I saw was 1023, average seemed to be around 250. 7.6k hp 1676 ac on the SK. I can't remember exactly how effective the slow was, but I know he mitigated part of it. I think it said it was partially effective.

Well, that very attitude is why so few people play on Zek. Why would I want to fill my leisure time exposing myself to the depredations of pin heads and filling my hours surrounded by players whose social skills make them unacceptable on other servers. I am glad they have a dark place to hide you guys.

"Why would I want to fill my leisure time exposing myself to the depredations of pin heads...."
Leisure time? Are you ******* serious right now?
Typically people spend 2-3 hours at a time with Everquest. Comparably with other games such as Everquest 2, Perfect World, Flyff, etc. That's a bit overboard if you consider it leisure. At least with PvP, it's far more realistic, and more readily gives you a stopping point. But sure, I understand dummies who kill you and steal your kill and items; that isnt right.

With the re-introduction of Fabled mobs for 2007, I decided that I would take one of my alts into LGuk to pick up a couple fabled items for him. He is a lvl 35 Ogre Zerk so I figured the Axe and the Sash would be good for him.
A bit of background, I own 6 accounts, all have 1 main character Anguish/DPOB flagged and geared. Not bragging but just the way it is after 7 years of playing. I zone into Lguk and do the / character count, see 4 others, all anon, in there besides the 4 I have with me. Call check and get 2 responses for frenzied and that 4 people are in line for it and that I could get added to the line as number 5. So fine, Ill go to the Executioner first and pick that up. I kill 3 PH's to get him to spawn, yay zerk's got a new toy. However during this whole time I've noticed on track that there has been a Fabled Frenzied Ghoul that hasn't died the whole time i've been at the Executioner. So i decide to move to the Frenzied to see what's going on. When I get there the 4 are sitting outside the room and one of them proceeds to tell me that I can get added to the list. A quick /con of the 4 there show that all 4 are gray con characters so even as a group they stand no chance at all in taking the fabled mob. They then asked if I would kill the mob so that they could loot it and if I would do it 4 times so they all could get the belt. It absolutely galled me that players like this think that someone should come in and kill a mob for them when it way beyond their means to do. I decided to do the following, I told them I would kill the first one there and have them random 1-100 to see who would get it, but then they would have to stand aside to let me take the next spawn for my character. Two of them argued that they were there first and that this wasn't fair to them, so I said get in there and kill him yourself. Of course they responded that they couldn't, So I said my plan stands, take it or leave it or I'll kill and loot it myself then leave. Only one guy there argued at this point so I went in and started to kill the Frenzied for them random. During this the guy who was still arguing the plan decided to to take it upon himself to train everyone there, he was a monk, brought about a dozen extras into the room. I had my 75 SK,Sham and Bard with me so they didn't pose any real threat to me but they did kill my zerk in the process along with the other 3 waiting. I had to use my shaman call on my zerk to get him back into the room, the whole time this monk is standing by the body of the Frenzied trying to ninja it on timer countdown. I picked up the belt with my zerk and left.

PEOPLE, I know you may want this gear for yourselves but don't expect other people to supply you if you don't have the means of doing it yourself. I would have been more than happy to even stay for a third spawn after I had gotten one for myself. As it was I felt kinda sorry for the other 3 that went along with the plan. But I had no way of getting anyone else into the zone other than my character with call.

I absolutely agree, that is utterly retarded that a group of lowbies are sitting there laying claim to something they cannot kill. If they do not engage it within a reasonable amount of time, it is fair game for anyone else. And whoever said they are holding up the line, that is absolutely right. Maybe I'll get 30 level 20 characters to cockblock things like avatar of war lol.

Normally, I'd have blasted you for "being a jerk" to the people that were already there, but I'm glad you left that part of the story until the end. You did absolutely right in my book. Sure, I've had help getting a lot of my gear for a lot of my toons, but there's a difference between having help, and refusing to let someone take a mob down while you wait (indefinitely) on your friends or guildmates to log on and help you take it down. I can't fault you at all for doing what you did, and in fact, I applaud you. It was childish and conceited of the monk that brought the train, and I'm glad he got his just desserts.

Now, to prevent a flame war from starting on this, I'll cover my own behind.

Saturday, I helped more than 50 people toons get a pair of Fabled Journeyman's boots. Yes, I was there for myself, and for many of my alts, but I only kept my account in there once per rotation. I managed to get five of my toons a pair of boots before I fell out of my chair asleep, but the point is, I spent my entire day doing it, instead of just claiming the camp for seven spawns and leaving the zone.

People, if you need a drop, and you can't get it yourself, don't hold up the line - the mob will probably spawn again by the time you're done arguing. If you've got what it takes to kill your mob, kill him and get it over with. If you need help, ask for it, but **** or get off the pot.

Just got mine! (My experiences, hope they help.)
# Apr 08 2006 at 5:26 PM Rating: Decent
I just got mine... spawn time ranged from 30 minutes to about 1.5 hrs.

I want to give a BIG thank you and PROPS to:
Melie Tujuu & Rothermine Ladykilla of "Riders Of The Apocalypse" & Seldar of "Legion of Champions" of Lanys/7th Hammer server.

Melie is not only the most uber-monk I've ever seen, he was the tank too. He, a 70 monk Time-Geared and Seldar a 60 ROG completely demolished him. Roth healed when needed and twisted haste & regen songs (I'ma Bard).

After about 3 minutes, he was down. Judging from the crits. they were giving out, I'll say 50khp, good AC and about 750max hits on the group by Fabled Frenzied Ghoul...on a monk. I dunno, I only see my hits & damage, but his HP dropped a little-bit so that's my best guess.

In short, 2 of these guys, FABLED VERSIONS, can spawn next to each other, and keep clearing all mobs next to him and his room. Somehow it helps. Finally, 30min to 1.5hrs spawn-time, and a HUGE thanks to Melie & Rothermine of "Riders Of The Apocalypse" & Selder of "Legion of Champions" on Lanys/7th Hammer server for helping me when they didn't have to.

Not particularly magic resistant.

Max hit (when Enraged) was 871 (vs. my 1625AC)

Was able to land DoTs and nukes, but is of course Snare/Root immune.

Dropped Moonstone Ring, Fabled Flowing Black Silk Sash, Torn Page of Magi'kot pg.3

I was able to solo him today with a 70 shaman. Long fight and ended the fight with 500 hp left and not even 100 mana. Used Quiescence to heal along with the AA HoT ancestral aid, and the clicky HoT from 1.5. Had about 8100 hp buffed and VoQ on.

I remember this guy being qutie a hard fight last time, this time killed him with 69sk with 9.5khp and 70 shammy =)
3 boxed em
# Apr 04 2005 at 8:25 PM Rating: Default
3 boxed him today with 65warrior (44aa's 7khps buffed) 65 cleric (45aa's) and 64 chanter (12aa's).

First time in 4 fights i got him, didnt even the chanter pet attacking him for extra damage. The fight lasted about 7 minutes though. The hardest part was when he ENRAGES at 9% health. I used the cleric pet(hasted it with chanter), NDT on the warrior, chanter slow, 2 chanter dots, and nuked with chanter. I also meleed with the cleric and finished at about 1000 mana left on her and was OOM with chanter.

Hits for 800 or so max on my warrior....most about 500 or so. Be cafefull of agro on casters...will rip through 4khps in a blink of an eye. The other 3 times i tryed him, i got him to under 10% mana...and ran OOM on my cleric, or got agro on chanter and she died. A trick for any warrior it to engage the first half of the fight w/ defensive....then normal for the second half, and at the end when he enrages you hit fortitude to repost him to death.
WAY easy

Did him with 68 war, 66 mage, 68 chanter, 65 shammy to heal. No problems. Line gets long in the evening. Weekday mornings are the best if you can do it. Get there early and be prepared to stay a while.

We were there 10 hours, dropped 4 Frenzied in that time.
A little late but...

ya i know its been over for a while but i just decided now to post my story, and it should be informing in case they ever bring fabled mobs back again. seeing as how they brought back the skeletons this halloween i dont see why they wouldnt bring back fabled for the next eq annivesary, but i have no proof.

anyway, when i got mine the haste i had at the time was just the regular fbss. so i was determined to get mine lol. anyway i camped there and stayed up so late-- i got in about 25 hours of camp one nite, and still didnt get it because i had to go sleep when i was already down to second on the list.. any way i wake up in the morning and there is only one other person there. so im then put in as # 2 on the wait list. got it in a few more hours i must say i was really happy. still wear it now months later.

so basically if they ever do bring the fabled back and you intend to get one of these, make sure you do it when you know you have a lot of time to sit there waiting, or else camp there and check occasionally how many people are there

Well, it depends on how well you're geared. But being as most of the mobs there are lvl 35-45 it's likely that you would probably die.

Okay, a HUGE thank you to all the people on Torv that helped me to kill this guy 15 minutes before the servers went down. Ssilent, Dafdy, Kikrni, Rorx, Pebbells, and all the others (if your name isn't here it deserves to be, send me a tell in game and I'll edit this post). You all were such a huge help that I can't thank you enough.

See that ranger over there swinging his swords like no tomorrow? Yeah, that's me, and I couldn't have done it on my own.
glass is half empty...?
# Mar 24 2004 at 9:48 AM Rating: Decent
To be completely honest, I think being upset that the spawn rate has been reduced, and that the normal frenzy has been added back to the table is a "glas half emply" viewpoint. You should be thankful that you still have the opportunity to get the sash. From what I understand, the initial intention was to remove the Fabled completely once the anniversary period was over.

On a side note, when I parsed my log from FFG kill he had just under 60k HP. In case anyone was wondering.
RE: glass is half empty...?
# Mar 26 2004 at 4:27 AM Rating: Decent
My take on the spawn rate being reduced, well isn't a good one and I couldn't disagree with you more.

First off, the glass half empty bs, is well, bs... The only official word I've heard from anywhere about when the anniversary was to end is from everquest live website, which said something to the nature of a few weeks of festivities. You can read this here:
http://eqlive.station.sony.com/5th_anniversary.jsp

Some simple math reveals that the anniversary started on the 16th of March and at the time of this post it's the 26th, so its not even been 2 weeks yet..

But the thing that annoys me is that SOE in it's infinite wisdom wouldn't decide to put a REQUIRED level on this item in the first place. I mean anyone with an ounce of EQ knowledge should know that people are going to bring alts in along with their mains to get in line for the item if their isn't any level requirement or recommended level. Which I saw alot of at the beginning. So nerfing the spawn rate/item/level of mob after a week and a half or so really means nothing. Give everyone the same chance I say, stick with what you started with and then get rid of the fabled in 3 weeks or whatever the plan is.

What some have to realize is that not everyone has 10+ hours to camp an item because other things such as a job get in the way of that. Call me a prick, but hey someone's gotta pay the bills...

i agree with u ... but this is an event ,means must be enjoyable by anyone ... when u do something u don t do it half .. on the 2 weeks event half was ok and now half is nerfed .... i neevr said i wasn t happpy cause they included the fabbled ,but in said the pop rate was insane and 50 hours to get this fbss is insane ,not everybody can do it ,it lmeans u mustn t sleep at all or u are quiclked from the queue etc etc etc ... well they should increase the pop rate ok more pple would have the fbss but .. well it would mean more pple would be happy and have enjoyed the event which is the goal of an event
