I casted on this guy , said spell does not take hold, no visible aggro or movement from the guy, then I take an instant 20k non melee damage about 2 seconds later.
Friend of mine said why not and casted on him. Same thing, 20k non melee damage.

20K damage. I assume that means you died?
Thats also known as a Deathtouch, AKA DT.
Couldnt attack him. Casted on him, no spells landed. I even walked up to him and typed in /attack, nothing, attack clicked off. Is this guy triggered or do you have to have a flag?
