Also, the above tactic was used at lvl 50 with A5 cleric merc, full defiant, and a 42/43 2hs (Frostreaver) -- Was an easy fight, cleric merc had no troubles healing, killed mob in under 5 minutes, much faster than the long AutoFire AFK thing.
The 3 Axes the Lingering Gives you dispel the DS the mob has, get yer cleric merc out, or bring a friend, throw the 3 axes, and then Melee it to death, much faster than hail throw or AFK throwing 1400+ axes.
Anyone know how to respawn this mob if your EQ crashes during the fight? i had him down to 30% and my client crashed logged back on and he was despawned and lingering axefell was back in his spawn point he talked to me when i hailed him but did not follow and now the beast is gone. How am i supposed to finish this now?
I went there on a 51 berserker, threw axes at him until he was at 88%, then got tired and went to melee him down, he got me to 70%, i ran back away to throwing range and he stayed. Lingering Axefall sat there and attacked him while i threw. Took me about 1400 axes of my own, i put the 3 he gives you in the ammo, and put my own in the range.. i sat there and killed him that way. Took about 40 minutes. Only had a few pathers aggro me, wasn't much of a bother.
downed the bloodbeast today with a 46 zerker and cleric merc easy fight also had ds pots merc held out the whole fight at the end of the fight she had 30% mana left nothing special on the zerker just some rough, simple, and crude defiant chain gear
Okay, I see a LOT of people saying they ranged it to death and that it was a long fight or something along the lines all due to the massive DS it has. . .
Just to clarify for anyone who doesn't want to spend 30+ mins throwing axes at this guy -> The axes the NPC gives you DISPELLS the Damage Shield after a couple of throws, after that you can run up and melee this Impervious Bloodbeast. I brought along my Warrior and once the DS was down, warrior went in a killed him in no time at all.
If you are planning to solo it here's how it just went for me, a Lvl 46 zerk. Fight took about 50 mins. Used Lingering Axefall's 3 Axes first, than hit it with 1350 Mithril Bloodaxes. (Started fight with throwing maxed at 234). a goblin warlord pathed and aggro'd twice during fight but were only mobs to path close enough to be a bother. In addition to Tooth, also Dropped Flawed Defiant Chain Tunic.
Helped a zerker buddy with my ranger take this thing out. We stayed back and used ranged weapons on it. I put my puny ranja DoT on it, and used my little nukes on it when I could. Half hour to 40 mins later and the thing was dead. We never closed for melee. Just sat back and whittled its life away. Easy but very boring.
I'm pretty sure it has a very nasty DS. I had a Monk with me melee him and it nearly killed him. I believe the DS he uses is Blood Shield ( http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=4703&source=Live )
Patience is your best bet here. Bring a lot of axe components... through the no drop axes into your ranged and mithril axes into ammo. This causes the mithril axes to have the proc and you dont have ot continuously rehail the dwarf for more axes. Dont be afraid to go up and melee at times either... if you have Virtue then you'll be fine swinging your blade at it a few times. Not a hard mob but takes a lot of patience. Conned red to me at level 46 but only hit a little harder than PoJ mobs... albeit faster.
So I took My Zerker out here and started this fight. Conned, as stated in previous posts Red to me at 47.
He does just stand there, all you do is throw yer axes at him. the most tedious part about doing this entirely by throwing axes is that you only get 3 per hail and can not get more than the 3. So you hail Lingering Axefell and get 3 axes throw them turn and hail him again, hail, throw, rinse and repeat.. until dead.
I chose to solo him, and strictly throw axes, I got tired of turning and hailing so I also threw my Mithril Bloodaxes as well as occasionally the ones Axefell gave me.
1.) Took me two hours doing it this way 2.) throwing skill maxes at 220 3.) even though they con green I found adds were fairly common 4.) as said in previous posts he does not agro if you stay at throwing distance. He does not Summon, he does not appear to have regeneration capabilities. 5.) make it even easier on yourself, take a caster and have them dot the thing or nuke it. 6.) at 47 i earned approximately 5% exp from the kill.
Good luck

Throwing axes at it will work if you're extremely patient. I am not. So I threw aspecial axe at it for the proc, then rushed in for real 'zerker action.
The proc greatly gimps the thing so that it only attacks approx every 10 seconds or so. When the proc effect wears off it, you'll know right away and the beast will rip ya a new one. So... step back, throw another axe for the proc, and go in and do what you do best (which is NOT throwing axes, even with +80 bane dmg).
This has to be one of the weirdest fights. it never attacked, unless you go up to it. Just stand back and dot it until it dies, and nuke it. It never summons, nor agros. it just stands there and takes damage. :P
