In the Plane of Fear: Has an AE poison proc. Spawns from the corpse of the indifferent Enraged Imp.

In Fear Itself: Note: For all map points of nameds in Fear Itself (for "thuledream.txt" map files), see this quest entry. PHs are "an enraged scareling" on and around the big hill in the eastern part of the zone (known to spawn near Quest NPC Hildran Heartguard). It hits for a max ~11,000 and spawns adds called "Essence of Rage".

Mob info

Looks like the biggest problem with this mob is the AOE mez with 500 range... since this range exceeds healing range I would assume this is as big of a problem as previously stated.

I just want to know if this mob is stunnable, and does stun interrupt the casting of the AOE?
Killing the Imp

A lvl 70 Shaman, a lvl 70 Beastlord and a lvl 66 Warrior beat his butt on the Quellious server on Saturday, 26 March. Key is to concentrate on him, not the essences he spawns. Aggro is wiped once you are stunned. Run them all in circles, around shammy, so he can cast Q and keep all alive. Train each other to hand off MOBs once you get stunned. Having the adds passed down until out of the range of the AE Stun was the key. Throw DoT's on him until he passes out. Takes a while, but was done in the end. Don't bother with any casters but a cleric, since they die to quickly. Cleric can rez in between stuns, loot corpse real quick, then back to the race track. Cleric dies soon after of course... =(

I was on a POF raid a while back (a few days after the Berzerker epic was finished) and this guy and his adds almost wiped our raid. With a riad force of 30 level 50-60's, we were stunned (no pun intended) by how hard this fight was. Someone had spawned this dude and died. We were running past the imp place, and this guy came with 3 scarlings. Easy huh? WRONG! This guy mezzed us like crazy. The enchanters couldn't mez the adds. Then, the scarelings started shadowstepping (small port to another random place in zone) They brought more scarelings. So now we are facing an army of scarelings and this guy. The scarelings kept porting and pulling more mobs. Finally, with 8 peep left (war/sham/war/monk/mage/SK/rog/and thank brell a necro with the rez component). The fight took about and hour. He took us by complete suprise. Everyone rezzed, escense dropped, and of corse, the only bst in guild was lvl 45 and couldn't come to the raid. :( Oh well. Then they (I say they because guild forgot to rez me) went and killed Dread easilly. Then I got rezzed. Lost the roll on the ball of the everling golem. Ugh. We will meet again POF!!!

Duoed him today 70th Pally 10500 Selfbuffed 782 aas and druid 66th 40aas. Strategy pally mounts horse and beats on Imp druid keeps ds and regen on him. Agro control is key druid heals when unstuned and only when the adds are not due to spawn (80,50,20,10), and pally heals when the add imps spawn. Pally dismounts when the adds spawn kills all of them and goes back to killing Ire. It will be a long slow fight.
Has anyone spawned him lately?

Greetings all. I have been trying to get this imp to spawn for weeks now for a guilies epic drop. I have killed all the scarlings and cleared the zone 4-5 times now with no enraged imp or ireblind imp poping at all. Has anyone spawned him lately and if so was it at the WW camp or was it from the single wandering scareling that is way up the west wall near the fire ring. I am trying again this week for the second time and just looking for some info on his spawn rate and which scareling he is usually spawned from. I started this endevor at the end of november and now it is feburary and still no ireblind. Thanks for any help I can get.

He's not doable with 3, I'll tell you that. 70 Beastlord, 65 Bard, and 65 Druid wiped. He's not the hard part, it's all his adds. We succored out, and the Bard came back and kited him. It took him 45+ minutes, but he said it was easy enough, though very annoying, what with the AE mez and all.
Not so bad...

This guy isn't nearly as bad as some of the earlier posts make him out to be. Admittedly, the raid force that dropped him was 20 with an average level of 66 (We're on the way to Cazic Thule). The AE mez is a pain, but the tank always gets awakened and can keep fighting. As for the adds the pop every 30%, just get someone to OT them and all is good in the world--they con Lblue to me at 61, so they're not that tough. Anyway, luck to all that try it.

Went to fear for epic mobs (Not the Zerker Epic mob). We zoned in and went to west wall. Bunch of scarelings followed so we started killing them. I finished killing my mob and turned around and the Enraged IMP was at 60%. I said in Raid say that that was the PH for Ireblind. The word was then issued to NOT kill the Enraged IMP. The IMP died and here comes Ireblind IMP. We had about 4 groups from 55 to 65 in levels. Was a long fight and we did have a few deaths but after he was dead, we just killed the 15+ little red helpers he spawned during the fight. That Mezz he cast was the MOST annoying thing about the fight. All in all was fun..

This guys was such a drag!

We were a single group killing to clear towards paladin epic and this mob appears at our camp on the zone wall.

We werent expecting it and hadnt looked it up or anything so came as a bit of a suprise.

1st thing was aoe mezz, 'your body is encased by stone message' this every 30 seconds or so, then I think 4 times it pops 4 green con 'Essence of Rage'.

Was a long hard fight for one group 2 palies, shaman, cleric, druid and monk.

Cleric and druid both died once due to heal aggro. It was kinda hard for the 3 melees to keep aggro on 5 mobs when we constantly being mezzed.

That said we did generally keep aggro and concentrated on the esences when they popped and we killed it in around 30 mins.

Ireblind hit for around 330 max and adds for around 100 max. So was doable for 1 single good geared group.

Ireblind
# Jul 15 2004 at 2:46 AM Rating: Decent
Wow they should have never put this mob here. It almost ruins the zone! Well after the patch today, the zone was completely empty. I decided to lead a fear raid to get my Child's Tear. I was informed that the zone should start repopping later that night.

So i gathered a raid force of about 2 groups (all 60+) and sat at the west wall. The spawns started one by one and we picked them off with ease. But after killing one of the scarceling thingers the Enraged imp spawned. Bard tried to zone it but it came right back. So we killed it and Mr. Ireblind spawned.

Our tank was doing a pretty good job with the healers healing in between mezzes. The hard part of this encounter was the adds. Every maybe 25% (not positive on this) about 5 adds spawn called Essence of Rage. Tank couldn't keep up and went down, healers and dps were picked off. The only people that remained were a druid a bard and me (a shammy). THe druid was doing a pretty good job kiting it and all the friggin adds and we got it down to 50%. THe druid went down so me and the bard were kiting it. We had TONS of adds it was unbelieveable. The essence of rage dudes plus normal mobs in the zone. All we did was run around, get mezzed, run some more, etc. I was OOM and couldn't med or anything so i dotted it when i could. We somehow manaaged to kill it but we still had to deal with the 50 some adds. I somehow got massively dispelled and finally lost all my buffs, but my insta sow boots saved me (plus selos helped too) We kept kiting but i finally got rooted and died.

All that left of the 2 groups was the bard. He pretty much kited the zone while the rest of us did our CR. Not sure who, but someone looted the essence or whatever for the Bezerker epic, but no one really wanted it anyway because we were after necro, shaman, bard epic stuff.

After the CR no one wanted to continue so everyone ported out and that was it. It really disappoints me that this mob was deliberatly put here and is so tough. Maybe if it was in a set location so other raids that aren't after it wouldn't have to deal with it, would make it alot better.

I would say the best way to deal with this is: whenever the Enraged imp spawns, get a bard to kite it away from the rest of the raid while everyone else continues the raid. When raid is over bard zones out and everyone is happy. Although you might have to pay the bard quite a bit of platinum to do this for so long =p.

Took Ire down with 23 and an avg raid of 63. Mostly non ep flagged players. Only had 6 deaths. He's crazy, but not really that hard. The 3 clerics did MGB celeste regen which is what saved us.

Magnius lvl 65 bard E'ci server solo'd Ireblind Imp Sat May 15 around 7am est. Just posting this to let people know he can be solo'd. I kited Ireblind Imp with bard dots. During mez/stuns he stopped attacking and dropped agro. after mez broke went back to kiting over and over. The adds were no real problem at all, just avoid them. Took me about an hour and a half doing about 1% damage by each mez. So far I'm the first I actually know of to solo the Ireblind Imp, could be wrong and would like to see others do it.

I soloed him about a month after GoD release on Quellious. Took me approximately 3 hours as a 65 necro. Much like you used with your DoTs, lich cancels out the mez. Got iffy at some points when sow wore off, but all-in-all, very doable.
This mob sucks
# Apr 30 2004 at 10:23 PM Rating: Decent
Just took this guy down tonight. 5 groups of 55-65, and we were wiped 5 times.

Finally had a bard run in before raid and gain aggro, then took the Ireblind Imp north, away from the zone in. When it was a safe distance away, the rest of the raid zoned in, while the bard kited his train away from us. We took out all local mobs at the west wall, then the bard allowed himself to be killed.

When the Ireblind came back to us, we were able to finally kill it, and the imps it spawned. Unfortunately, it killed me when it was at 0% health.

To top it all off, this wasn't even our intended raid target. It just happened to be up at the zone in when we first went in, and had to take it out before we could start our actual raid. Total time to take out the Imp was appx 2 hours.

Aww, he just gets a bad wrap. I ran in there today to gather up some of me and my friend's corpses from a bad wipe the other night and met him again.

So after I get everything nice and organized on the hilltop for the rezzers later I start to camp out before my nice little train catches me. Didn't really think it'd happen but it was worth a try. And who do you think flys up to the hilltop with his little entourage? You guessed it, Mr. Ireblind Imp himself. Instead of playing whackagnome with my head, he mezzes me and everything just starts to wander off, leaving the last 15 seconds of my camp timer to tick down in peace.

That imp saved my life! You just gotta get to know him first.

This encounter is messed up again. We had a wipe on the Imp last night. At one point we counted over 27 Essence of Rage buddies. Defintely out of whack. We did NOT re-engage the Imp and, thusly, did NOT reduce his HP to make him spawn more friends, we never got him below 25 the first time, which, by all accounts, means we should have been facing 8 EoRage. /petitioned for some help after another guild went in and tried to clear for us - no response. There goes my weekend, thanks SOE. The game is supposed to be a challenge not a buggy-hassle.

Potion to break mez
# Apr 26 2004 at 11:41 AM Rating: Default
For all the people having problems getting the potions to break mez: The dot will only break mez if it does more damage then your item/spell regeneration (Natural/AA regen doesn't matter). Tested this last night in Fear, with all my normal regen gear on, no mez break. Once I took it off, it would break as expected.

I used a potion of stinging wort, seen here:

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=15467

The mez would freeze me, but within a tick I was back fighting again. Have your shammy make 5 or 6 5 dose potions if he has enough materials and pass them to the essential players, like the MA and SA, Healer for tanks and some CC folks.

I think it saved the raid as a Dracolich popped about the same time. We had to pull the imp way away from the draco. A lot of death, but no wipe.

Wow, for the first time in a while,..im kinda impressed with Sony's band aid to the imp problem. My guild owned Fear last night, (like most groups/guilds Should be able to do) and we did not have to worry about the Ireblind.

In case anyone is not aware , when killing scarlings, and Enraged Imp may spawn , in similar fashion as the ireblind. Only this is his PH. Once the Enraged imp is spawned, he is Not KoS, but will aid and assist his lil scarling friends and other mobs in the zone. If this happens, and he sees you fighting, and agros you, simply mez / root ....do what ever ya gotta do in the way of CC and avoid killing him. Kill all mobs around him , and simply mem blur. You are no longer on his *to kill* list , and you may now go about your raid as normal :P

It was very nice to be able to enter this zone , without worry of a 25 person wipe.Im sure the ireblind is cake when ya got the tactic down, but when caught offgaurd, he is a bear to deal with.

I think it was a great move on part of SoE:) Puts him more in line with most other classes epic mobs. Its not like lvl 45's have to worry about ixiblat Fir runnin around BW. Anyways, three cheers to Sony. We were able to pick up an epic piece for our chanter , and now plan on goin back for more :)

not a PoTime MoB
# Apr 03 2004 at 10:38 AM Rating: Decent
Just met the Imp last night.
first meeting was with a group of 10 ppl, avg lvl 63-65. He wiped us after we got him down to 24%. This was with NO previous info on our part. Yes we wiped, but we are not Planar Geared ppl, and we did get him close.

For Corpse Retrieval, we dragged/summoned to the NW corner, regrouped with more ppl, and moved back down to his camp spot.

WITH advance notice, a 65 Ranger aggroed and "kited" the Imp (best as he could with proc mezzes hitting). Healers focused on the Ranger, the ENTIRE party (and pets) switched to the annoying Essences whenever they popped, just to keep the fight a little more sane.

All in all, it was a long fight, but the second time..pretty easy.

Was I suprised to find such a MoB at the "west camp hill"? cho betcha!
Am I gonna complain about computer game content writers in a fantasy-setting game, who allow a "new" MoB to show up one day in a zone known as "The Plane of FEAR" (a GOD'S home, after all), with out sending out a mass email warning everyone? ("caution: coffee may be hot") Um, no. If I wanted utter game safety, I would stay in Crushbone at 65.

all I'm saying is...plenty of good stratagies posted here, and plenty of ppl vouching that the Ireblind Imp CAN be done with non-planar groups....so if you wander on your favorite beach and step on a piece of broken glass, curse the person who dropped it..not God for tarnishing your beutiful and "safe" beach. =)

Fear is old, old, old content: it should be doable by a raid of low to mid 50s looking for epic drops... not easy, but not so hard that it takes you hours just to get your corpses back after you wipe and give up. Hopefully the post above about the placeholder is true, and Fear is now doable by such a group again... we cleared most of it at the weekend but were lucky that the Imp didn't spawn at all.

Enraged Imp
# Mar 31 2004 at 5:07 PM Rating: Decent
Last week I went in to solo a little and was warned by a guildie that if you kill all the imps a named will spawn.. Ok, so I kill all the trash that I aggro, and when I finally kill an imp it spawns into a larger Enraged Imp. Try to snare it and no luck. I gate out and say ***** that. I went in today to check track at lunch for Shissar and begin my kite/kill cycle as usual. I kill one imp and it doesnt spawn into anything. But the second one I killed spawned into an Enraged Imp. I ran across zone and gated.

One thing I found interesting was the first time I killed the imp and spawned the named, it was by itself and did not aggro me. But when I aggroed another mob and kited it near it added in. Do not know if mem wipe works on this mob or if they despawn after a while, I guess I should go look. I was not part of any aoe mez or any other spell, looked like a pure melee mob.

NEW INFO --
That same night I went in with another guild druid to have some fun. Killed a bunch of zonein mobs till we got a scareling to pop the enraged. We decided to see what this enraged was about. It cant be snared but didnt summon, so we killed it with little effort. After the enraged died, the Ireblood Imp popped. I warned fellow guildie about him and what I read in these posts. We decided to engage him to see how tough he is. He is kos, unlike the Enraged version. He cannot be snared but doesnt summon. He does aoe stun/mez (huge range) and has high regen during that time. We originally tried to nuke but no damage during the mez we were basically standing still on his life. So we used dots to keep him damaged during stuns. Doesnt hit that hard either. When we got him to 80 life he spawned 6(I think) greenie adds that cannot be snared either. Those hit for 100s max I think. By the time we separated the adds from him and killed them, the Ire was back to 90 life. We re-engaged him and at 80 life he dropped 6 more adds off :/ At that point we decided to leave.

So, I feel 1 or 2 more can easily handle this encounter (wizzie with sos to get hps down hard). At no point were either of us (ele/time geared druids) at a risk of dying. I do not know if you can resist the aoe stun/mez, but I was a good bit away when he hit druid 2 with aoe and I did not get in the range. I think the adds only have 5k hps max.

Good luck on killing, I might take another try with a few more just to do it.

Irritating Imp
# Mar 22 2004 at 10:25 AM Rating: Decent
Have to add my 2cp to this one. As everyone else has posted this mob is very out of place. For younger and smaller guilds Fear is hard enough as it was. I like a challenge as much as the next guy but this Imp needs a little tweaking.

Keep him in fear, move him away from zone in. Break in can be frustrating anyway and nothing makes it worse than having your break in group spawn this guy unintentionally. Don't want to move him from zone in? Make him wander then. Even more frustrating when your break in group spawns him THEN he camps all the corpses with his Essences. We were largely unsuccessful in training him away from the corpses, as he seemed to AE then reset to his home position.

Many hours and many corpses later we were able to get most to a safe spot and summon the rest. This guy takes the "fun" out of "challenge". He needs to be moved, have a turn in mob or wander after all aggro is lost.

K, gotta ask. We got this guy on accident 2 weeks after he was put in..we wiped hard. All the posts I have read said maybe 10 friends over the course of killing him. We got him to 16% life, during the CR (rogue with SoS) counted 32 friends. Can anyone verify this guys friend count? or is every fight different?

K, we killed this guy last night with 5 deaths. Raid of 4 grps, lvl 52 to 65, nobody time or elly capable. We mezzed all scarlings during break in then after clearing picked them off one by one. Wouldn't you know it, the last one we killed and he pops. Someone below said dots on yourself don't work, but they did for us. I challenged MT to duel and dotted him, he was active almost the whole fight. Once fight was over he camped to clear duel. Also you don't need a dot that exceeds regen. My dot did one point damage and it worked for him. We cleared to the SW corner before killing scarlings. Once he popped we moved to SW corner to fight him in case we wiped. Another tactic would be for MT and some of the melee to get aggro from one Essance of Rage, they don't hit for much and they break the stun/mez, then just concentrate on beating the Imp down. Someone said that the stun clears aggro, but that is wrong. I got stunned but still had a Rage beating on me and it broke the stun every time. We had one person picking off the rages as they popped. It was a long fight, but doable. Just have patience. As has been said the stun range is huge. I was one that died. I zoned back in and was at west wall camp while they were fighting him in SW corner and I was getting stunned.
