This is not the pally 2.0 mob, this is the regular Ldon raid.

The 2.0 mob is from a different mission..

Confirmed tonight that you must have at least part of your raid force (we had 10 folks) in Felwithe when the paladin triggers this expedition. We had most of the raid force waiting in LFay ready to zone in. Also the maximum is now 54 in raid.

Does anyone know how often he casts the curse? Continuously or every 30 or 60 seconds, or ????

Also do all the adds come from the hallways? Do any pop in his room and are they timed or do they pop at certain hp%?

Thanks for any help!

Have fun!

Some random musings on the paladin 2.0 version of the Valdoon encounter:

Fought our way through the zone with 24, about half bots, mains were in qvic level gear, bots were in elemental or below (I think)

Didn't have a pulling class so got typically 3-7 mobs per pull, fewer once we started using a chanter. Killed the 3 Guardians of the Kel'Novar in the zone. This knocked Valdoon's hp down to 85%. We moved towards the westernmost room in the zone, where Kel Novar was located. (There's a fake Valdoon Kel'Novar in the northern-most room. Ignore him) When you get there, you'll need to clear the mobs in the room with him, and to be safe we pet pulled the closest few from the hallway behind him. He's relatively easy to hear. I think we had 3 clerics and a druid doing a CH chain on him. At about 3 minute intervals 3-4 adds charge in from the hallway you came in through. They hit for about 1k each, but have pathetically low hp. (I (paladin) killed one in about 15 seconds). If they manage to get to Valdoon, he kills them and absorbs their hp to heal himself. This is bad.

The most annoying part, and the one that'll kill you if you have undergeared people, is the AE lifetap (listed above). It needs an immediate RGC or higher level radiant cure, so you will need a curer in each group dedicated solely to that.

One extremely annoying thing that isn't mentioned here is his other AE, Seneschal's Petrification. It's an AE mez, unresistable. Fun stuff.

Overall, I'm pretty sure it was the lack of curing that killed us. With an efficient cure team this fight could be done with the 4 groups we had. Too many were botted and focusing on other stuff unfortunately.

Good luck to other paladins trying this event.

Edit: Tried this event again today, had one dedicated curer in every group and amazingly enough, a Psalm of Veeshan bard in every group. We focused on the adds when they popped, and they went down in 10 seconds or less, then went back to Valdoon. He died in 3-4 minutes. AE mezz was the most annoying part of the whole thing. (Also, -100 chromatic is inaccurate for whatever reason. With 600 to all resists I got hit by all but 2 AE's)

Edit 2: It appears the location of the 'true' Valdoon changes, the first two times we did this he was in the west room. The third time, he was in the north room. If you're doing this, clear to the Valdoon who's at 85% after you kill the Guardians.

We had 33 people in raid.... avg lvl 67... and still could not get the raid person to give us a raid. Is there level restrictions? Something else you need to say? Everyon in group had at least two wins at that camp, also.

level 75?
# Jan 13 2004 at 2:09 AM Rating: Decent
how can they tell its level is 75 when noone is close enough in level to be able to tell. for all they know if it is red to a level 65 it could be only level 68. where do they get level 75 from. just wondering.

When Allakhazam's labels any given monster as a certain level (in this case 75) it is not actually the real level of the monster (to our knowledge). It is just an approximation of the difficulty. So if it's a red mob, but not all that hard, maybe they will lable it as 70. If it's red and a bit harder, it's 75. If it's red and very hard, it's 80....etc etc etc.

It's a way for Allakhazam to tell people an approximate difficulty and what they may be able to expect when encountering it.

hmm, i gave it what little thought i could, but about your wondering how they can tell if it is a 75 is: ( only a guess may/maynot bet right now ) maybe Allakhazam Asked SonyEQ Dept for monster lvls... that could be where they get the updates.. so.....

There is a program called ShowEQ that runs off of Linux only. It allows you to see information that would otherwise be hidden, like what mobs are in the zone, what loot they are currently carrying, what level they are and so forth. It is frowned upon by SOE, though I'm not sure whether it is considered a bannable offense to use it or if they have any way of detecting its use. You run the program on a comp with linux operating system that is networked to your PC that is running EverQuest.

So that's one possible explanation for how they are certain about it being level 75.

as a note, showeq can't see the loot mobs have (hasn't been able to for quite some time), and it is indeed a very bannable offense if they manage to catch you using it.

you know, ive never fought this guy, but im guessing that if hes the boss of a time-level raid, you get this funny feeling inside that hes a little more than 3-5 lvls above you

Yes, you are right, Valdoon is the boss in one of the extremely high risk raids for Time enabled guilds. Pwnd by Forsaken Realm on Mithaniel Marr on Jan 27, 2004. All loot (six augs) except for one was Type 8 (for Plane of Time gear). The one that was not Type 8 was a Type 3 41% haste augmentation.
