Wisps require magic weapons to be hit. Wisps are non-aggressive, however they are extremely sociable.

The three variants of lightstones that they carry are excellent lightsources for humans and the other blind races.

Befallen are magic resistant. I was 16 wizy and couldn't get a spell off, we had a enchanter and he cast tashan but I dunno if it worked or not and we still couldn't cast on it. Thank goodness we had tanks and pets.

More than one type
# Jun 16 2000 at 3:27 AM Rating: Decent
There's more than one type of wisp. I know for sure of two, but there's probably more. In the East Commonlands, they're willowisps, and blue to my level 13 rogue. In West Commonlands, there are also willowisps, but mixed in heavily are critters named will o wisps (with spaces) that seem to be a bit tougher than normal. I've never tried casting on one, so I wouldn't know if that's the one that resists everything. But that's my suspicion.
Befallen Wisps

I was in Befallen yestersay ,thinking to get a few GLS from the wisps where the competiton for them would not be as great. Well the dam things resisted EVERY spell i cas on them , and i can kill wisps with one blast. I went through over 1000 mana to no effect . There is something very amiss whith the wisps here ?????
going onto boat
# Jun 15 2000 at 12:29 PM Rating: Decent
If you get on the boat anymore they will follow u and if you don't have gate get off the boat or you'll have to find your corpse in the middle of the ocean
Lightstone

The LS and GLS don't give infravision, they act as a torch or lantern. BUT BETTER!!
Ligthstone/Greater

Whats the diff? Does Lightstone a lightsource and Greater Lightstone give ultravision?
Burned out lightstones
# May 29 2000 at 7:09 PM Rating: Decent
I collected BO lightstones one night on Eruds Crossing for my mage research. Did a few practice runes and logged with 3 backpacks full of stones. Imagine my amazement the next day when they were all gone. Too bad it doesn't say NO RENT on them, heh heh.
Burned out lightstones for research
# May 20 2000 at 11:21 AM Rating: Decent
These can be used for practicing spell research (Journeyman Rune Beza, trivial at 95). Of course by the time that you're researcing at this level, you're well past the point where killing wisps gives you experience. Because they're no drop, they can't be bought or traded. Because they're no rent, they can't be stored past logout while you collect rawhide for research. They're still irritating. I can't see a reason for them being no drop other than irritation! One tactic for others to avoid some competition for these kills would be to leave the burned out lightstones on the corpses.
Can be harder than u think

I have fought wisps in just about every zone u can fight them in and these wisps in befallen have a heck of a lot better resistance to spells than any other wisps. My heat blood spells are hardly ever resisted by mobs, i can cast it on red mobs and it sticks most of the time. But, i was in a group on lvl 3 in befallen and we attacked a wisp, it resisted every spell i cast on it and every root spell my group members cast on it. It went and found the rest of the mob on lvl 3 and brought them back to us. Just be carefull with these and dont just think its another wips like the ones in the other zones.

Greater Lightstones are also used by tailors to make Wu's Fighting Gauntlets for monks.

I have noticed that if I don't use any spells in the attack, and only use mana to heal myself, I have gotten a lightstone?greater Lightstone 9 out of 10 times...anyone else notice that too? Maybe just coincidence...

/con EVERYTHING! After you are down to half HT is not time to find out the MOB you are fighting is RED! Oh, and at higher levels, pay attention to the text. I am told that the color is the Xp you get, and the text tells you how tough it is.
burned out lightstone
# Apr 01 2000 at 6:58 AM Rating: Decent
I'm not aware of a monk quest that calls for a burned-out lightstone. The Orange Sash of Order requires a GREATER Lightstone. I saw one of these the first time I ventured out of the newbie zone of West Freeport( I was level 3)...made the mistake of throwing a shuriken at it...'a wisp hits you for 25 points of damage', 'a wisp hits you for 26 points of damage, 'you have been slain by a wisp'
Guards
# Mar 31 2000 at 4:19 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah, I don't think so. Someone prolly seen your butt D doing the mad dash to the zone and killed it for ya. I run past the guards with wisps hot on my trail in EC. All they do is laugh prolly hoping that that thing kills me dead! haha =)
Um... guards dont attack Wisps
# Mar 23 2000 at 11:01 PM Rating: Decent
D nice- guards never attack wisps(at least in Karanas, Commonlands, Eruds X and Qeynos H in my personal exp.), even if you are being hit by them, so I would like to know which guard killed it and where?

Wisps
# Mar 08 2000 at 10:41 PM Rating: Decent
Don't ever kill one of these if you don't have mana to finish it off once I rooted one and casted ignite skin on it(blue to a lv 12)and continued to cast ignite skin then the root ran off and it came after me I ran like a madman trying not to get killed thanx to the guards I didn't die.
Wisp Loot correction
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
Actuallu, the burned out light stones are used for a Monk quest, so they're not TOTALLY useless. Also, Greater Lightstones can be turned into the Dark Elf encampment in South Ro to get the Concordane of Research for you Dark Races. Selling GLS pries vary between 6 and 8pp to players.
Befallen Wisps
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
Please note that the wisps in Befallen seem much more resistant to magic than the other wisps. And when they run, they pull lots of stuff in befallen on to you so be careful.
Erud Escape
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
If you have SoW or Selo's Accelerando, and need to run from whisps in erud's crossing, just run around the island in circle until the ship comes. If you get on the ship the whisps will leave you, and you can immediately get off the ship and they won't come back after you :)
Some info
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
These require the use of magical weapons. The drop Lighttones or Greater Lightstones, which are best given to a gypsy in North Karana. The Burned Out Lightstones are useless, and should be destroyed
