Hit one of these and talk to them, and they'll become your pet. You won't have any control over them, but they'll attack anything that attacks you.

healing the bitten victim

I did my first 4 LDON's the other day- We must've seen at least 20 of these. Some hubby's ranjah would hit- They would just die- Only one that was hit became our pet- The rest did nothing that we noticed- Except for the couple scavengers that poped up every now and then- The one that was our pet I was able to heal during a battle. :)

Despite what people say, there is only a few things that happens when hitting a victim:

1 - Become your pet
2 - Nothing
3 - 2 or 3 spiders (lower level then the average mob)
4 - gives mana to all that are near
5 - gives health to all that are near

The more common things seem to be pet, nothing, or spiders.

Despite what people say these DO NOT curse you, poison you, nuke you, etc. The worst you can get from them is scowling mobs.
How many Pets?

Are these limited by the "only one pet" rule? I thought my bard got two of them up at once but was unsure.
Are they?

I was reading the posts, and learned that they can disapear and give you HP and/or mana. Do they still do that? B/C ive hit like, i dunno, hundreds and never once had that happen (or the 1k dmg thingy)

The end has yet to come

I'm not sure that this will help, but Before the patch I would use my disarm to wake Bitten victims without reproach... I'm wondering if this will work now that the patch shows them all at 100%... Perhaps the Pets will still wake and the none pets will not be disturbed... Give it a try... I know I will..

With the new patch, now ALL the bitten victims will show 100% so you can't tell which is a trap and which will fight :(

From what I saw was this:
1. They all start out laying down and looking like a corpse but dont aggro you if you dont do anything.
2. If you attack them but miss they will respond something like "leave me alone" but will not stand up.
3. If you hit one that is at 100% it will stand up and start a conversation. You say "follow me" and they will follow the same way a chanter pet does; so make sure your tank makes him his pet. They will assist you during a fight if you get attacked but you dont have full control over them to guard/attack/backoff etc. After a few fights they will say that they are done and welcome oblivion or something to that effect then poof. They dont take away any exp during the fight. I dont know if you can heal them or not.
4. If it's at 2% health and you hit it, it will:
a. Poof with a message that says "thanks for releasing my spirit" or something to that effect.
b. Poof with a message saying something like: "I give you my health as I leave this world," then any ppl in range get a grp heal for something like 500hp.
c. Poof with a message saying something like: "I give you my energy as I leave this world," then any ppl in range get a grp mana boost for like 1000 mana or so.
d. Poof in an explosion dealing 1000 damage or so.
e. Poof without a message spawning 2-3 little spiders that DO COUNT towards your slaughter goal if you have the slaughter 50 or so mobs quest, but DONT DROP the quest items if you have the "collect 20-some items quest." FYI the little spiders are appropriate lvl for the dungeon and proc poison.

They VERY RARELY do the 1k damage trap if at all. It is usually a Mana/HP boost, "enchanter pet", or the little scavengers. As far as I know, they can still be a trap at 100% health.

I love these guys when dungeon crawling with my bard. Our groups are usually small (normally just 4 of us - the other 3 with pets already), so if I see a bitten victim at 100% I always hit it to get another bit of damage into the mix.

Basically, I have hit dozens of these guys and never seen one at 100% health turn out to be a trap.

Sadly, my experience with attempting to Sense Traps with boxes and crates has not been quite so good. I apologise again for killing 2 of my groupmates with that one. Note to self - warn group to have all available cures up before going near them. Ahem. :)

Sorry, but you're incorrect when you state that they count towards your slaughter total when they spawn the creatures. They do not. We had a bitten victim that spawned 3 Scavengers last night on a Slaughter mission, killed all 3, and none of them countered towards the Slaughter mission total.

Apart from that though, excellent information :)

Not all the ones that are a 2% are traps i have been around a few of them that where at 2% that if you kill them the regen you mana by about 20%,
then the next time we hit one it was a trap and killed our lvl 55 wizzy, so i think that it is random wether they are traps or not.
Dont kill them
# Sep 16 2003 at 7:39 PM Rating: Decent
Dont attack the low hp ones, a person in our group killed it and about 5 scavengers spawned. Pretty mean little things. The scavengers were Db to a 49
They can be pets
# Sep 15 2003 at 7:33 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, from what i've seen, don't attack the ones at low health, just the ones at 100% can become your pets. Attack them once and they'll say something about how they don't want to be left there, that they want to come with you. Say, "follow" and they will follow you around attacking whomever attacks you. They don't do much damage but it's better than nothing. Especially with the time limits, anything helps.
faction

Are these on any faction at all? Just wondering because I've seen some at 2% and it would be some easy XP for us if they didn't have faction.

Not all become pets. Some are traps, we had one spawn two spiders on death, some give the party mana on death and some heal the party on death.
