I had the misfortune of running into this during my guild's VT raid last night. Right after coming back from a crash, I looked around and was promptly teleported on top of a pile of corpses with a lot of gray robes around....
I was on my guildie's 66 pally at the time with around 7.3k hp unbuffed and lasted around 5 seconds.

Akhevan Warders are untargettable and spawn at various points in Vex Thal. They will banish anyone who goes near them to an unfriendly area within the zone.
They can be despawned by killing the named NPCs in the order they were intended (ie. you can't skip your raid all the way to Aten Ha Ra, you have to kill the mini bosses to despawn these warders).

Do not try and kill these mobs by kiting - does not work.
