Make sure you have lev on when fighting this guy. I had him shoot some of my group members up high enough that they died when coming back to earth (not to mention being pushed way far away. Best to fight him in a corner or even pull him in to the hallway (but the door locks after you enter so make sure your puller gets back before the door closes).

I was leveling up a couple of alts in the Hole this morning and had my ranger babysitting them when I saw the Guardian on track. Figured I'd give it a shot and so I popped all the best buffs and damage shields I could, then ran in. 76 ranger, 63 necro, 63 enchanter, tank merc, dps melee merc and healer merc.

Necro used Life Burn, it didn't do much. Ranger began by firing, until he was summoned at which point I switched to melee. Big mistake on the Guardian's part because his HP started dropping like crazy - apparently I can out-DPS my bow, something I didn't know. Once he hit the knockback, ranger returned to range attacks and let the merc beat on him. Downed pretty quickly and then the constructs went. Constructs were complete cake, Guardian was except the summon/knockback but mercs were back on him before I even realized I'd been knocked.

Dropped the Ancient Tome of Research, Ghostly Mantle of the Dead and Purified Steel Earring.

Duo'ed on 3/19/2015 with a 68 Monk w/tank merc and 68 Rogue w/cleric merc. He was EASY and the aoe knockback did little but make us laugh out loud. Kill him first, takes like three minutes. The animated constructs were the things with a ton of HP.but each died within a minute after their boss went down.
Molo
# Jul 26 2014 at 10:04 AM Rating: Decent
Molo'ed by 69 monk 8). Took about 10 min or so. Killed his 2 guards and then FD'ed then killed him. It was a close fight while the guards were up. My merc went down and I finished off the second one before I had to FD. Was fun but wish I could find a group instead!

Soloed

75 SK, 14.5k hp, 3.2k ac (unbuffed). Wasn't too difficult... killed his gargoyles, feigned, medded, and then squished him. He has pretty weak hp, and his damage output is pretty low, though I couldn't get slow to land on him. Ended the fight at about 50 mana.

Also of note, at 30% he changes into a stone golem, and begins using Earthen Shrapnel (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=4188&source=Live) which is a smallish DD and knockback.

Holy Cow that must have taken all day for a small raid or a month for 2 groups to wait on Bard DA Refresh - recast timer. Oh ues I am aware it is a group cast ... I am also aware that just the initial loading of the song takes an UnGodly amount of time.

It is much easier to DA jump a Cleric off into the Hole and Suicide jump a CotH Mag in. Or just have everyone jump in and rezz buff at the bottom.

2 lvl 70 monks and a 70 bot cleric.

Was not a cake walk but the loot was worthy of a revisit in a few days.

Easy to split construct and gargoyles
# Sep 19 2004 at 10:38 PM Rating: Decent
Another way to split the gargoyles from the construct is to have a monk pull the construct and start running out of the room and back into the Hole, FD, then get cothed back by a mage. The gargoyles can be split off and killed while the construct is chasing the monk. Depending on the level of the remaining characters, you can easily kill the gargoyles with an MT, cleric and some DPS (including a mage for the coth). Both gargoyles can be split with root if you need to fight them one at a time.
Cliff dive'n

A note on jumping into the whole.... It's not easy but it is possible to hit the water and take no fall damage at all. The trick is to jump from the other side of the pit. Jumping up onto the rocks between the tunnels that lead to Tox and the newb area will give you a path around to the far side of the hole. As long as you have sow and are quick to start running in mid-air, as soon as you zone, you can make the last couple feet needed to hit the water. I suggest practicing once or twice with a sub-10 toon till you have it down. Then just amaze your clerics by saving them some mana.
RE: Cliff dive'n
# Aug 21 2005 at 4:48 AM Rating: Decent
If this ever worked, it no longer seems to do so. Regardless of where over the pit you end up zoning, and what direction you were facing, you always enter the Hole at the same location, facing east. It doesn't seem possible to reach the water by jumping in from the top.

Also, the 'sit' method does not seem to work either. Using /q just before impact did work.
My XP with him

Ok here is what we did. All the ones who could Cast Divine Barrier did and jumped off the ledge from Paineel. Next everyone else jumped in and after we rezzed, buffed and set the raid up we were set. I had our MT get in the corner so we didnt have to worry about his AE Gravity Flux. I had all the casters line up on the wall around the corner from where the MT set up at. I had a 65 pally and myself (65 SK) off tank the Gargs. I told everyone to kill the Guardian of the Seal 1st and heal the MT not me and the Pally. I had 5 clerics 1 druid 1 shammy 1 chanter and the rest was dps. all together we had 17 peeps. The Pally stunned the Garg ge was on and I life tapped and Leech cursed my Garg until we had the GotS dead. If was a very easy fight, only had 1 death and only took about 30 minutes from start to finish. The garg on the right dropped the Ore for the Str. of the elements Quest. The Garg on the left Drop a page (50 i think) for the Seal quest, and the big guy dropped a Ghostly Mantle of the Dead and a Simple Pure Gold Ring. Now we did NOT pull Echo and he did NOT assist any of the mobs. We killed him after the GotS/gargs were dead and he dropped the SK sword and a Red Dragon scale. All in all a pretty good raid. =) I hope this helps out, altho I dont know how long he takes to spawn. Will be checking on him and will let you guys know when I find out =)

**EDIT**
The Guardian of the Seal in on a 3 day spawn timer. My Guild has killed him twice now he dropped the shoulders both times and dropped the ring, the earring, and the book once each. Hope this info helps.

Today I fell in the hole and I was tryin to get to a corner to cast Gate (I had camo on) and I didn't no if he would attack ... of course stupid me I go to the pile of rocks and as i go to click the gate button a hidden garg attacked me and I was dead in seconds cause I ran twords him in reflex...hit me for like 975 hitpoints and I was already damaged badly from the fall.
RE: he wacked me good
# Aug 22 2004 at 11:23 AM Rating: Default
you fell in the hole, you can cast invis and gate. Got to be a druid usin camo and clicking the gate button(not a gate potion)
you have to be full of crap if you say you "fell in the hole" that is a 20k fall. Druids don't have that many hps and float is stripped when you enter the zone.

So how exactly can a non-DA class "drop" in the hole?
RE: he wacked me good
# Aug 24 2004 at 4:46 PM Rating: Default
Well, I have a level 7 bard alt that I bound in paineel right next to the pit... my idea was that I would just use the bard to suicide dive into the hole to check if the guardian of the seal is up at any given time. Also, I saw someone post about not taking 20k fall damage if you hit the "sit" command in midair, right before you hit the ground.

Sure enough, the bard hasn't yet taken a 20k fall... fall damage has ranged between 350ish to 550ish, but no 20k falls (this is on a bard with maybe 10 stones of encumberance tops... maybe on a fully loaded char you'll still take 20k, no guarentees...). So I had a shammy friend toss me a HoS, and my level 7 bard survived the fall.

landed essentially on top of echo of nortlav, close to the guardian and his two guards (all con indiff.)

Which brings me to my questions, which are: since nothing seems to aggro, can you toss the whole raid group down the pit, have clerics rez the dead, buff up, and then kill him? Is this a faction that some may be KoS too, or is it indiff to all? Does this guy have some trigger event that like you give something to some NPC and it spawns a KoS version of the guardian, or is it just a level 70 raid mob who, for whatever reason, is indiff to all?

Any answers greatly appreciated =)

hard to believe as I have tested this also and every drop was a 20k drop. too bad you dont have a movie of it i can watch to satisfy myself with

Actually,

Normally you would take 20k dmg from the fall into the hole. BUT there is a way you can JUMP into the hole and NOT take more then 800 or so dmg =) My guild uses it to farm Nortlav and GOTS for his scales and FT2 gloves.

Haven't tested it in a year or so... but we used to enter the hole with little to no damage all the time:

One at a time, jump into the hole. Make sure you are looking straight down as you do it. After zoning in watch as the ground is rushing up toward you. Just before you hit the ground /quit out of the game. When you log back in you will arrive at whatever point you quit out falling the rest of the way to the bottom.

With practice you can make it taking 0 damage. This is easy enough to practice... just go to a different server... create a level one toon starting in Paineel and jump to your hearts content.

The way we do it is ....

All the DA capable people DA and drop in fropm Paileel ... some others are able to avoid death by sitting after they zone into the HOLE while falling ...

We are able to kill the GoS with 13 people ... MA on seal and 2 other offtanking killing the gargs as quick as possible .. hopefully by the time the gargs are dead the clerics arent OOM ...

I hadn't read the previous posts. But you know if you get an SK or necro you can VERY easily pet pull(FD then sick pet on mob, spam back or use pet hold till mob has been pulled far enough away to be tagged) the guards to the water edge. Really simple to do, I generally use level 49 necro pet for pet pulling, which is sk 65 pet i believe.
Tracking
# Jun 28 2004 at 9:34 AM Rating: Decent
FYI for anybody on recon, Neither GotS or his Garg sidekicks show up on track. Before taking him out with my guild last night, I checked track and he didn't show up and I was staring right at him. Also confirmed this with another Ranger in the group.

about 25 from my guild raided the Hole last night. I won the Ghostly Mantle, and it also dropped the Ancient Tome, Purified Steel Earring, and Fusible Earthen Ore (I think from the Gaurdian... might have been one of his statue buddies next to him). The ore is the hardest piece for this quest:

Guardian of the Seal
# May 01 2004 at 12:42 AM Rating: Decent
Did him today with a force of about18 average level was 63 or so. After several failed attempts to split gargs with necro pet pulling and FD we just decided to send the MT with 2 clerics after the guardian and split the rest of the force between the 2 gargs. Gargoyles went down in less than a min and the entire force shifted to the guardian and he dropped 60 seconds later. There were no deaths. Each secondary tank pretargetted a garg as the MT targetted the guardian and they attacked simultaneously. No nonsense about trying to pull into the water and splitting them. Fast/Clean/No Drama kills. Falls easily for a lvl 70 raid mob but then loot isn't lvl 70 raid mob equal either.
Earring
# Apr 05 2004 at 5:36 PM Rating: Decent
We take him down alot quads high in the 900s like 100-105k hps pretty low we take him down easy the earring always drops . And pull the guards and send 3 people on each or some people can solo them
GotS
# Mar 11 2004 at 11:47 PM Rating: Decent
We took him tonight on Luclin, with a Raid force of about 20 and an avg of lvl 60, just get a necro to single pull Guardians to water behind Echo of Nortlay, you can EB up if ya want, but fight didn't last long enough for anyone to drown. Once you kill the guardians, move your force to wall on right side but DO NOT move around the corner, have all your clerics/healers target MT, and stand on right wall, have MT pull him to far right corner and get the rest of your Melee to attack him from behind and push him to corner while Healers stay out of AoE range and Chain CH on MT, once he hits 30% (doesn't GF anymore)Has a simular Knockback effect, thats why you have to keep him facing MT towards the corner, and once that's done , he's a cake walk.
He dropped the Earring and the Gloves along with the Tome as well, was a really fun raid . hope that helps =)

56 Warrior- Fumorf
55 Paladin - Vrountzos
