I am camping the Ghoul Scribe in Lguk for my epic on my 50 enchanter. Between PH spawns I got bored and decided to go after the gnome for the guktan illusion spell. Well the gnome's PH undead froglok was there. So 2 no-show scribe camp spawns later, I go and sit in the gnome's hole.
Managed to hit him fast enough after spawning that he did not summon a pet. Bugger resisted stun so many times I gave up. With lvl 30 heal pots plus KEI and Virtue he was going to kill me. Except at the last second I managed to 2 of my 20-some tries at using Dazzle to go stick. After he was at 50percent health I got slow to stick. In fact, after he reached 50percent health my DDs started taking more often than not. Killed him with 40percent of my health left.
So if you're a chanter and no one wants to help you out with the gnome, it is possible to solo it. Just keep casting and don't let up. Of course heal pots, Virtue, and KEI help too.
...Now back to that blasted Scribe spawn, hasn't popped in 10 straight hours of camping him.
P.S- Haste, DS yourself and your pet. Use fire elemental too for an extra kick to the DS. Resist Magic is nice as well.

Well, after camping this little bugger I can confirm that his spawn time is exactly 1 hour. Killed him with my 52 chanter using the 49 pet and casting Rune III 'cause I am too poor to buy stacks of peridots. :) First I mezzed his pet, which pulled him. But his pet kept coming unmezzed during the fight and was becoming a nuisance so I mezzed the gnome and killed off the pet before continuing. The level 49 pet was indeed able to wear him down, but it took several minutes and I had to chain cast Rune III towards the end to keep my pet alive. Also needed to drain his mana to prevent him from dotting my pet (lost one pet to his dot and had to mez him and recast pet). I used scryer's trespass to drain his mana. He tried to fear me a couple times but I resisted it every time with 160 MR. If you are soloing him with your chanter I also highly recommend getting virtue or other hitpoint buffs, he may not hit hard but he hits pretty fast and he can dot you as well.

I just fell through the hole and immediately got attacked by him. I'm a lvl 54 mage, I started by having pet on gnome and i nuked his pet and killed that, then just went to town nuking the gnome. So it is possible for a 54 mage without any healers to kill him.

Me and a couple of friends were down in LGuk trying to get an SMR for my Enchanter's epic (none for sale in the bazaar, wazzawahuh?) and I managed to pull this guy and 5 other frogs (the frogs were on purpose this guy on accident). When he first came in the room he was actually fighting with the FROGS... then I hit the whole room with Color Skew (6 mobs stunned, woo) and then he proceeded to try to eat me instead. I managed to mezz him on the third attempt after I tashed him but I think I got lucky, because VERY LITTLE ELSE would stick (my stun hit him twice out of maybe 8 times, four slow attempts resisted), and the mage was totally unable to nuke him. We just let the earth pet tank him and slowly wear him down after we killed the other frogs.

I hailed the shimmer not realizing what it was for, I'm just lucky that I actually need the thing! Woo! I didn't even know about this quest, and I've already started.
We were there for four hours, AM spawned once with the legs, gonna have to make another attempt on the SMR...
Edit: Looked at my log, and I had to attempt mezz four times before it stuck, stun NEVER stuck, slow NEVER stuck, he was proccing some sort of lifetap and casting SK spells (if he HTed anything I must have been out of range, because I see no HT message), and has a good amount of HP (51 earth pet took about 3-4 minutes to kill him with the 25 point DS), but he hits like a wet paper sack (45 max for a mob that cons dark blue to 49).

short version:This guy resists almost everything.
I, 51 Ranger, and my friend 55 Chanter were out hunting L-Guk last night. We were able to kill just about everything that we came across no worries. This gnome, however, resisted absolutely everything that we casted on him. I don't know if it was bad luck or by design, but neither the chanter nor I could get ANY spell to stick at all. So, if you want to kill him, bring tanks and healers, dont expect that spells will do the job.
Again dont know if it was bad luck, but absolutely everything that we threw at him was resisted. 4-5 root attempts, resisted, mez, memblur, nukes, dots..... all resisted! Also I believe he is an SK, if that hasnt been said before.

he was alltime up when i was whit my druid in lguk, one time he disappeard ( got killd i bet ) and later hm think 1 hour or so he comes back.

he is lvl 45 .... and is on a hour spawn with a undead frogie PH ... the PH has less then 1200 hp .. loc is 1074, -750, -250 .... he is at the bottom of a pit trap at the crossroad between the Lord and the hand ...
i am level 64 so if he is 55 then he should be DB to me.

The Lower Guk version of this guy is not level 55, he conned light blue to mena d was immune to stuns , also has pet. Hit max for 80 points. And after he died a spectral shimmer spawned was indifferant and was untargetable. He is located on way to ghoul lord room, going north, from the jail room area where you fall in floor trap.He attacks immediately so be ready for him.
