i tried to do this solo, i failed does not seem doable without a few friends. killed death ward guy, went to kill life ward and even ended both cats were dead as well in the jail cages. I would think you need at least 4 people who know what to do to win this or have a chance. boxing does not count since its moving around etc. lots of script cheaters that box who knows thats not me though.
Khati Sha is spawned by completing the script with the arcanist's in the jail area, making the warder of life and death targetable. Killing them breaks the seal to the trap door in the floor to basement. you have a 50/50 chance of rescuing the correct vahshir . upon completing that task the third and final seal will break leading you to Khati Sha. HERES THE CATCH ... Khati sha is only killable ONCE A WEEK . 7 days from last kill. So you can attempt the script every 12 hours but you will not get past the last seal to khati sha unless that 7 day timer is met. So people that are saying the script is bugged is not true. It works every single time no problem. So you either need to know when he was last killed and attempt 7 days from that death or , keep doing the script till you get lucky. I doubt Khati sha is one of these mobs being farmed on a regular basis so the chances are you will get him on your first try. If not just have some patience and attempt him twice a day till you get him. Yes twice a day the script resets every 12 hours. hope this helps.
This quest is definitely fixed, I have been running it for last 3 weeks and have gotten Khati twice. Second try i picked wrong tiger and got arcanist. Seems that Khati is on a 7 day timer because i have run through this like every other day since my twinks can use the arcanist and warders loots too. Maybe this is a fluke but my 2 successes were upon saving the cat that is NOT on the red circle.
The cat you choose to save actually has no impact on the continuing of the script, only loot. If you save the correct cat and don't get the Arcanist, then the door opens and you proceed to Khati, assuming enough time has passed since he was last killed. If you get the Arcanist, you get the added benefit of loot from the Arcanist, THEN the door unlocks. Either way, it only unlocks when Khati is up, and it is a totally random 50/50 chance of choosing between the cats every time.
The way I have been doing this event is first I kill the Warder of Death in the cauldron room, then I kill the Warder of Life down by the jail cells and then this is where I seem to get stuck...no additional spawns happen in the basement room and all of the locked doors are open. I can then open all doors and go all the way to Khata's room but of course he is never there.
Am I doing something wrong or since the doors in front of the lava bridge also becomes unlocked does that mean that someone else has recently killed Khata?
The only thing I can think of is that I have to kill the Warders in a different order...Life first then Death...but does that really matter?
I have killed both Warders about 4 times now and have gotten the same result of getting stuck. Is this quest broken?
I'm a 85 necro 3300ish AAs, I had been trying this event with my 85 BST friend nearly every day for about 3 weeks as of late summer 2009, and have been experiencing the same problems you have described.
Either no one shows up downstairs (neither the two spiritual arcanists nor Khati, but all the trash is there) under the trap floor, or the trap floor will not open. We have tried killing the Life/Death wards in different orders at least 10 different times each way and neither order seemed to have any effect, it still bugs out or something.
I have sent /bugs and /feedbacks, I finally decided to try a petition. The GM more or less said, "This issue has been forwarded to suchnsuch department and keep an eye out for game updates on this issue." Gee thanks....
I will keep trying and post again if I find anything out.
While engaged with Warder of Life, he says he is the First Ward. Likewise, the Warder of Death proclaims that he is the Second Ward. I have assumed that 1st-2nd is simply the order in which they should die.

All attempts thus far have ended in FAIL one of two ways:

I kill the elites along the lava bridge and in the pool room out of spite.
As it does not appear I am doing anything wrong, I keep chalking the fails up to a seriously bugged script. Sigh. Try, try, again.
Same thing here. Completed the script with the two caged Vah Shir's then head to the locked door which opens. Descend down the steps, kill the mobs in the way and get to Khati Sha the Twisted's room. The four minions are up, though not targetable. Khati never pops. Have hung around for hours.
After trying several times to run this event (first time not enough people, second time got Fabled Ward of Death unexpectedly and ran out of time), we finally got a normal event with enough people. We ran right through the Ward of Death, waited for the Ward of Life to be targetable then smushed that. Then, however, the floor never opened or became clickable - any suggestions? Did we take too long to get to the floor? Is it bugged? It seemed like we did everything right.
the script is just insanely buggy, do everything right, and there's still a high % you're going to fail just due to a bug. Reason nobody really farmed em before, next year try again, and again, maybe once you'll get to see him !
OK, so having killed Khati Sha numerous times since my last report on him, I'm finding a strange set of circumstances. Basically, after killing the Warder of Life/Warder of Death and spawning the twin Spiritual Arcanists portion, I'm getting one of four resolutions to that part of the event:
A) You choose the wrong cat to free, and the event is over. No loot mob, and no Khati Sha. B) You choose the wrong cat to free, and you get a spiritual arcanist as a booby prize mob, with loot (the loot's not so bad though!). C) You choose the correct cat, both arcanists and their guards despawn, and Khati Sha spawns. D) You choose what seems to be the wrong cat, 'a spiritual arcanist' spawns and attacks, but when you kill him, Khati Sha then spawns!
An interesting set of circumstances, to be sure. I will investigate this further, and hopefully others will chime in with their research. If there's a pattern or discernable way to get both the arcanist and Khati to spawn each time, alts everywhere demand we find it!! =)
I've killed him for the first time 2 days ago. We chose the wrong cat i think, the cat fell over, we killed the grimling (had loots) and khati still spawned.
Also the loot not listed is a Twisted Chain Faceguard, it's not in lucy yet though, it's Ac 25, Str 10, Dex 10, Sta 12, Wis 10, Hps 100, Mana 75, End 75, SF 7, SD 5, SM 7, SP 5 War, Clr, Pal, Rng, Shd, Brd, Rog, Shm, Ber, Effect of Truesight (went to my baby brd)
Tried this event twice now and had two different results.
First time we went down and there were the eight grimlings guarding nothing (The two cats didn't spawn). We killed one set and another set of four spawned on the back wall (KoS I believe). We killed the other four as well as the four that spawned and Khati Sha spawned.
Second time we went down and the cats were up and being guarded. We chose the left set (Closest to where you come in) and they were the wrong ones. The Arcanist spawned but we couldn't attack it. It walked over to the door and vanished along with all the other stuff there. Khati Sha didn't spawn.
I am unsure if there is a way to tell which one is the correct one to "save" but will keep trying.
It's my belief that 1 more item from Khati is missing, as his loot table at this point appears to be 11 random drops and 1 drop that he always has (the Mnemonic). I believe there is still yet 1 more item to be found!
Always, Always, this has been the bane of Khati Shah. Some player, hoarding the books as they fall in their adventures and groups, looking up info, Finally! getting some sympathetic friends to come along, who are on, who have time, who are good. To get shut down on the 50-50. That player, face now dropping, realizing that to get this assemblage together again might take another year ( I kid you not ) and stares at the books so carefully stored in the bank every time a new expansion comes out and just....just does not want to get rid of these, to make room, and also, looking at the AA's, just does not want to spend the AA's on innate run, since there are others that are better used, in the now.
We took down Khati Shah on Firiona Vie yesterday, 2 monks, 2 pallys, cleric, BST ( VAH Bst ) and a mage ( me ). mage monk and pally upstairs on death, everyone else downstairs, mage to OT the sacrifices up top.
We are all 70+ but bear in mind at 70, the big grimlings in that section of the castle are LB, and still a challenge, so good for exp if you are thinking of it. When we went, they were all grey, some green.
Warder of life and death. Death can be killed first, and quickly, once the event is started. Have a mage ot pet class OT the sacrifice, no DS on pet, taunt on, as it appears, and DPS like mad the warder of death. Pet will prevent sacrifice from getting to cauldron and you will have enough time.
Warder of life. Ater deathis dead, run down and join first group, constantly opening doors, to see what is wspawning where, get the jammers first! there will be successive waves of skeletons, all the skeletons will need to be slain. Target the skellys only after you are sure all spell jammers are dead, move back to jammers if more spawn, then back on skellies. Once all the skellies are dead, Life becomes targetable, and can be fought singly.

50-50, yes you want to hail them and get a response, but they are both named the same, so dialogue does not give clues as to the ancient logic riddle. ( ancient riddle being- 2 guards,one tells truth other lies, how do you decide which? answer, ask each if the other lies, then ask if the other tells the truth- liar will be exposed in his yes or no response to each question )
2 guards, 4 grimlings. Kill them in this way, slay south guard on each vah, then east, then west. pause. med a little. start on north grimiling on each guard, get them BOTh to 50, pause, take them both to 20, pause, Carefully, then take them both down to 10, 5, 2, 1 pause if you can, then slay them BOTH at the SAME TIME. No DoT's.
note: yes we did see that red circle. Frst time we slew red circle first ( vah is hunched under that marking ) and failed.However on this attempt? one under the red circle was slain a fraction of a second AFTER the one closest to the doors ( not the stairwell ) we did not get two "you gain experience!" messages as they both went down, we got one, one only.
Grimling will spawn, and break the seal.
Bear in mind some grimling guards can aggro through the locked door, so be aware of that durring the 50-50.
Monk fell in lava pit past seal :( oh- twirl the gems in theprevious room, it's ok, once the seal is brken you can open and close it at will. the bridge will rise once the gems are twirled. click the bridge? and the bridge will fall, click it again once in? and the bridge will rise. one evil member had fun dunking the monk, after we figured this out and breathed when we got him back. Well, the dunker was an iskar.....
fight khati shah the twisted, get nice boots! maybe a spell, and the book!- and bank space! and scrupiously spent AA's! and freedom! and no more lagging behind your group mates/friends as you run through those georgous and HUGE zones in TSS.

I think you are mistaken. The answers for both of your posed questions would be the same for each. Both would say that the other is the liar, and both would say that the other doesn't tell the truth.
The best question to ask would be some form of "Would the other say that you are the liar?" The Liar would say no and the Truth teller would say yes. You would only need to ask one question to one mob.

We tried to do it last night. 2 Necro's, 2 Berzerkers, Ranger, Cleric. We handled most of it pretty well, but for some reason the Ward of Death never spawned. We did the Ward of Life pretty easy. And we cleared a LOT of mobs. Probably a couple hundred. Bring a lot DPS. And a good tank. You have to kill the mobs pretty fast and the adds you get if you don't kill the jammers fast enough have a ton of HP's. So that just slows you down.
It's pretty interesting that there is so much detailed information here, but nothing that tells you how you determine which mob to free. Also wondering if it's a toss of the coin or maybe a riddle that has to be solved.
Did this soo called "event" on SolRo this week with a low-count number of players it would take to do FR, 1/4 prolly EP-KT geared, rest are bought or Velious/Luclin geared i would think. Anyways, this is a fun fight but is a pain to get to him. Loot isn't bad at all and with the numbers we had (which was an overkil supreme far as i can tell) u could get poorly equipped people with common drop WoS etc. and ldon bought gear to kill him still EASILY. Not saying this guy is easy but he surely isn't hard as hell either. In any case, if u haven't done this i suggest u expierience it cause its somthing worth your time ( and that goes for any player no matter what zones ur guild raids ) , i dont doubt that with top GoD gear and tier 2 armor u could down KSTT ( ya thats right im not gonna type that dam name out ! ) with 16-28 peeps. But dont take this from me since i havent proven it yet.
Been on Bertoxx for near two years now ... haven't heard of anyone attempting him, let alone defeating him. Personally, as a Vah Shir .. I also would like a chance to put this tortured soul to rest ...
Oh Well, Another screwed up raid mob. He drops great items for peeps who are in guilds that havent flagged for Emp or higher. To bad they made him for EP guilds to kill, as they all will ignore it for faster better gear. Thanks again Verant and Sony for another reatarded mob set up!
OK everyone, here goes. All the rumors and innuendo, the crap about the 6 DTing adds spawning and whatnot, it's all bogus. Here is the final word on Khati Sha --
Once the Warder of Life and Warder of Death are taken down in succession, click on the trapdoor in front of the grimling warlord spawn point. It leads to a room, with 2 'a spiritual arcanist'. The arcanists are vah shir, and they're surrounded by 4 grimlings each, one at each point of the compass. If you kill the grimlings surrounding a vah shir, something happens -- either your event is ended (you chose the wrong vah shir to free), or a script triggers and you are allowed to open a door going deeper, to Khati Sha (there will be a zonewide emote from Khati Sha upon spawn). There is a bridge over lava, it's easy to discover how to raise that. Across the bridge are approx 5 Elite Grimling Deathguards, noslow/nomez 400 hitters, can be split easily.
Khati Sha stands upon his throne, surrounded by 4 untargettable defiled minions. Once Khati Sha is engaged and suffers more than 1% of damage, they go tangible and attack. In this case, we OT'd them, I was an OT. Max damage about 500, mine would not be stunned, but other OT's said they could stun theirs. Your milage may vary. Khati Sha himself hits in the 1300's, quads, ramps (a lot). There are 4 AE's going off during the fight -- Tortured Memory I, Tortured Memory II, Cursed Visions I, Cursed Visions II. (all exist on Lucy). One of the OT's reported that his Defiled Minion procced Blood Claw on him. I personally didn't notice. We OT'd all Minions until Khati Sha was down, then mopped them up, nice and neat.
Wanna give a huge thanks to Duke Atlis Bigarms, Shadowknight of the Quellious server, who put in the time and research on this, motivating people to Acrylia to learn about the event from the Warders up, and congratulate him on his new Fused Mnemonic of Khati Sha. Also big grats and thanks to the United Raiders of Norrath, who performed like champs against Khati Sha, even though we got nothing but negative reaction from everyone we asked for intel/info from. I just wanna say he's not a doomsday mob, he's not unbeatable, and the event isn't impossible. I hope more people will take heart and do this event now that we've shown the way.

Thanks for the guide. Sounds like a fun encounter! Choosing the right vah shir sounds kind of tricky. I hope you can restart it once the Warder of Life and Warder of Death respawn, which is how long?
Khati Sha is immune to slow but definitely cripple him. I had no trouble landing DoTs on him once debuffed. Some minions are slowable, others are not. I was too busy healing Stonehewer to see if there was a way to tell them apart. Minions do proc blood claw but with Tribunal, it's easily resisted. Other AEs are fire and magic with pushback (which can send you into lava or icy pool although that's rare)
