At the start of the fight he looks like the Xalgoz model. After you get him down some he shape shifts. As your killing him, he will shape shift into 3 or 4 model's one being the Main Tank for your raid. Fun and easy fight, not so bad loot and good faction to boot.
he is acutally level 70, but for this level, i know necro's who have tanked harder. his dots are extremely rough, if they land, buff everyone in the raid with disease and magic, and get a bard to play his tunes, after 3 tries and 3 trueshots he goes down and dropped 1 ring and insignia, was a bish but was decent loot. def be prepared and have someone who has RGC, if not you will most definatly wipe, no buts about it.
My guess is he has around 175k hp. Next battle I'll /log raid damage so we can see what he does. He seems to put out around 360dps, which is very weak considering other mobs his level - it truly is a RGC/RC battle (think Grummus with less melee/hp).
We created one group with the 1 cleric and 1 druid we had to heal, put the bard in and the two War's in there with one Shammy to RGC/RC the group. MT tried the evasive trick which seemed to work, and let the raid go at it. Pallies got manatapped and couldn't heal their groups after the first 25 secs or so, and not having any other groups with RGC/RC, most of the raid parished except fort he main group. We didn't lose anyone in the RGC group - the entire rest of the raid died - 33 people. We were awarded the Royal Shai'din insignia and the Soulsip Sceptre for our efforts.
Didn't think we could pull it off with only 1 cleric and 1 druid, with an NToV-equipped Guild, but we tried anyhow, and won. Good job, Knights.
Took him down with 7 toons yesterday (12/28/03). War & Cleric (2 Boxed), Rogue, Shaman & Bard (3 Boxed), SK & Druid (2 Boxed). All are level 65, though the Cleric and Druid have have less than 25aa each. We have no Vex Thal or Elemental gear. We wiped 3 times before we formulated a strat that worked and took him down on our fourth run.
We fought him up top right in front of his spawn. We found that we would get pather adds from the hall outside if we had people at the bottom hiding from the AEs. The key to the fight is 3 fold: Low numbers, high resists, RGC. The bard was only playing Purifying Chorus for the entire fight and all toons had 400+ MR and DR, some had 500 MR. Even then the dots would still land. The Shaman was RGC'ing anyone that the Manadrain Dot landed on (priority on the cleric) and then firing off Radiant Cure when he could to clear the Spell Slow Dot. Tank was Evasive (was able to disc twice during the fight) to avoid the unresistable 1600dd proc.
The Cleric was the primary healer until the last 10% when she and the Druid were actually medding and alternating heals because neither had any mana. The last 20 seconds or so went with no mana on anyone. It was extremely close but we pulled it off. Loot was Brittlebone Sandals and Bone-Forged Trinket.
Korucust We did ~ 200k damage to Korukust, that I logged. He did ~ 30k damage to us, not counting AE dot. 24.5k of that on 65war (+100aa)in 86 hits (ave 284/hit). The war has max defensive aa's.
So, if you figure in that some spell damage isn't typically logged (like dots) and we had a few druids/necros there, it's probably safe to say he has around 225,000 hitpoints or so.
Took him down with 29 people with decent gear, most lvl 60+. only eleven people lived, MT dies when Korocust was at 1% lol. With casters hiding below the stairs to only get the one AE.. He was hitting for in the 600-700's and the Ae's go off A LOT. ad 3 clerics on CH rotation (4 sec) and druids/shamans patch healing (tank was often below 25% health) but we did it! dropped bone-forged trinket and dark blade of the shai` din.
Easily slowable after Malos or Tash (once got him after Malos with no Tash, the next time just let the chanter tash him and slowed right away). Does not mitigate.
Casters can easily avoid the manadrain dot by standing by the fire downstairs, 2 casts of Remove Curse will rid yourself and any others of the other dot (50% cast time reduction dot). Have a priest in the main healers group either casting RGC or remove curse you should be able to keep your tank up.
one thing i learned when fighting this guy is that he shape changes throughout the fight. This can cause some problems if your tank is back in a corner. i have seen koro get bugged as he shape changes and start summoning people to the zone in. eventually he will warp back to where you are fighting him but not without taking a few people out at the zone in.
I put on a mini-raid for this guy last night. It was all but smooth getting down but we managed to get to chardock B. Once we got there it was easy to get to korukust's sanctuary. However, we wiped two times trying him all due to that AoE. I thought being below the staircase meant we were out of his Line of sight, but it still got us. Is his AoE just a simple matter of distance?
Also, is his AoE easy to resist if you have bards playing resist song? We seemed to just get knocked around his AoE.
I am curious to what other people have had in numbers and strategy on downing this ******* :).
How is everyone getting around that AOE he has? He's wiped us three times with a raid size force. We do not have bards, is there any way to win without that one class in the raid?
bards are not needed but nice to have along most AEs will go through anyways. As I said in my post we used all clerics and casters below the starircase as this prevented his worst AE from reaching them
He conned red to me at 65 so I agree with above poster about his lvl. We had 30ppl in raid and wiped on first try as he went into some illusion of our MT who at the time was shrinked into the corner so when ppl lost sight of him some panicked. Second time we knew what was comming so we tried a new tactic this time killing him above the staircase in his room and havving all healers below it. This way they only got 1 of his 2 dots on them and it made all the difference. He went down and dropped 2 of his Soulsip scepters. Hope this is of some help.
