These spawn in Hailstorm's tower, they have a 1500 dd frontal AE, very dangerous... the tank must position the mob to where his back faces everyone else.

There is no such thing as frontal/directional AE. There is point blank and there is targeted. The Skygge AE is targeted. Learning how AE works will go a long way to helping you avoid it. Standing behind the mob DOES NOT guarantee that you will not get hit, particularly if the mob is cornered and the targeted AE has a pretty good size area of effect.

Yup, It is a directional AE spell. If you are behind them you do not get hit by the spells affects.

Stone Gale is targeted, if your melees stay at max range then they can easily avoid it. It goes off a friggin lot too so patch your tank hard because if he dies the skygee turns and can quickly wipe your raid.

Old posts but an unreported issue ... pets. I was goofin around in the tower since everything on the bottom was camped. Fought this guy with 71 mage, 70 sham, 70 war. Tank was in front, pets both on the back. Giant AE'd, all 3 got hit. Looks like you have to be at close to max range from front to keep it from hitting the backside.

Warrior died with only sham heals. Mage and sham managed to finish it off. The AE was too much for chain Yoppa's Mending plus Q to overcome. My group usually has a cleric so the sham is AA'd for buffs atm (only 1 level in the healing AAs on sham).

It is indeed targeted, not front arc, however it is only 20' wide and this the effect is essentially a front arc AoE. Anyway, the effect is:

Stone Gale

This is the same effect that Hailstorm uses, and any raid that has trouble handling the Skygees has very little hope of taking the boss....
