I've been traveling across GFay for a good 2-3 weeks now, often going to both CB and BB, and I've seen a Hatchetman ONCE, far off in the distance at a time when I was totally lost and gating out. I did manage to con it and it was green to my then 7 Wizard, so the levels sound about right. Haven't seen a single one since then.

I've seen a couple hatchetmen, but keep in mind that an orc hatchet is an orc hatchet is an orc hatchet. The ranger's guild doesn't care where you get them :)
Many pawns and cent's near the CB entrance carry hatchets, and you can turn them in just as easy (and get a little exp for killing cent's)

I have raised 5 characters in Gfay, and not once have I seen this htchetman, maybe he was taken off ina patch, or hunted into extinction by ruthless newbies

I saw on a few weeks ago when I took a wrong turn on the path to BB. I've been in Gfay for months and thats the only time I've seen one so I assume its a super rare spawn.

Ran into my first one at the BB entrance on Monday. I was expecting a fight, but he just curled up and died SOOOO nicely.

more specifically, if you turn in two orc hatchets to a person in the ranger guild in kelethin you can receive anything from 0-5 tarnished weapons

These guys are uncommon, and you will rarely see them around the crushbone entrance. I come across them in far parts of GFay, sometimes as far down as the BB entrance. The nice thing for newbies is that they always seem to have the hatchets.
