oddity
# Aug 26 2004 at 12:24 AM Rating: Decent
strange. i have never once heard of him til today, when i ran past him by the butcherblock zone line. was wondering what was so odd about the orc i just passed up...

he must be a very rare, or reclusive, spawn. but why?

I was on a alt the other day, sitting in G Fay minding my own business and this guy attacked me. I have the screenshot to prove it =D
stupid orc
# Jan 05 2003 at 2:16 PM Rating: Decent
I believe this might be controlled by a gm... reason being is that I was up hear the soulbinder and I heard *orc hatchetman says 'what a fine city!!'* I took a screenshot... how did it get that high in the city w/o being killed...

also when I tracked him I had lev so I just jumped down to the ground cause I thought he was there.. but nope... went in circles couldnt find him... so I started running back to the soulbinder and just before I got there track said I lost my target and he never showed up on track again. 44 ranger track shouldn't ***** up that much...

anyway just a thought...

Have you ever heard about the necromancer level 16 spell "Voice Graft"? That explaines the strange remark from the hatchet man.

And as a level 44 ranger you should know that when you lose track of something it's because it's dead.

And track can sometimes be very confusing, especially if you are in a hurry.

RE: stupid orc
# Sep 19 2003 at 10:24 AM Rating: Default
voice graft does not explain how an orc made it 100 feet above the ground in Kelethin on one of the many platforms.

Also I had track down to the point where if I took one more step it would track behind me and if I took one step back it would say infront. Either totally invisible or fell down below the ground. There was no items (tree or rock or such) for it to be stuck in.

Perhaps it wasn't a GM but it was something weird. and it happened when there were an abundance of GMs on that week/month.

And As a 44 ranger at the time I knew when I lost track that it had died or simply been dismissed (if a gm) and THAT IS WHY I SAID IT (DUH)

Anyway I just posted that msg for what it was; an odd occurrence.

Actually, it's quite common to see something that high up in the village. It just depends on when the guards want to aggro onto them.
changed?

Hm I never saw one of these, too (havent been in Gfay for that long) but got some hatchets dropping from orc pawns
Never seen 1 ever
# Apr 19 2002 at 4:42 PM Rating: Default
My lvl 9 Chanter hunts down orcs, all kinds cept pawns. Unfortunatly, he has not found not even 1 of these and Neither did my lvl 25 Mage. I know they are real but I swear: Ive once shouted "All of Gfay is now camped: BY ME!!!" And "Loc of an orc hatchet man will pay tell me direction its going!" Not one response. Maybe they dont exist on all servers....
RE: Never seen 1 ever
# Oct 29 2002 at 12:34 PM Rating: Decent
They do exist. My lvl 9 ench. was ambushed by one of these along with another higher lvl orc(don't remember what kind other than it was carring a torch).

I was taking the short route from Kelethin to the BB zone a few days ago (you ingnore the paths and just go straight from PoD lift) when I happened to spy one of these mobs. Poor ******* got nuked in a second.
Cut-Down Trees
# Jan 08 2002 at 1:25 AM Rating: Default
Anyone notice the sudden amount of cut down trees that seems to be abound, and even occasionally changes, here in G'Fay? Well, guess who takes them down! There's logic behind Verents madness I'm sure.. and after reading the articals above, I have come across thier illogical logic!
1.) Orc Hatchetmen are an interesting breed from Levels 2-3 with the occasional 4th to get a Magi by surprise. They don't have the same graphic as a normal Orc (based on thier weapon, ofcourse.)
2.) Orc Hatchetmen spawn anywhere within the area of a "cut" "downed" or "modified" tree. Anywhere that there are a lot of these logs on the ground, they show up. Hence a lot of them near BB and L'Fay.
3.) Orc Hatchetmen just-so-happen to find themselves near the Stone Ruins outside of the PoD Lift, where there are two massive stumps some 1,000-2,500 /loc units away. Amazingly, they wander everywhere but near the Stone Ruins.
wtf

orc hatchet man. What are they. ive been hunting in gfay with all sorts of characters for 3 months. I never saw 1 and i always see everything in gfay. Plus if they are real where do you find them. I saw everything else in gfay exept orc hatchet men. I have been tryen to find 1 for like a month. The results i didnt find 1. So to me they dont exist until i really see 1. SHEESH

# Dec 08 2001 at 6:35 AM Rating: Default
Im lvl 8 and my friends have really good lvl 60 buffs. I kill hundreds of orcs a day and I've seen all except this one. I've even seen a named orc but for some gay *** reason not this one.
Jumped
# Dec 01 2001 at 1:37 PM Rating: Decent
I was doing a CR from Gfay to BB with my twink ranger at lvl 6 when near the BB zone I was jumped by an Orc Hatchetman. I had never even heard of this spawn so I went through the trouble of taking a screenshot etc. So conferring with the reports of people seeing him near the spires that area between the spires and bb zone is probably a spawning point for them.
they might exist only to wood elfs
# Sep 30 2001 at 8:22 PM Rating: Default
i have been in Gfay from lvl 1-12 and i am currently lvl 18 high elf and have seen none.
go for the pawns
# Sep 15 2001 at 3:29 PM Rating: Default
hmmm... pawns drop Orc Hachets.. go for these, much more common, although i am currently unable to get hachet drops anymore, but did rustle up 3 hachets between lvl 1-4 *shrug*, along with pixie dust (11 dusts) not too bad, i got xp, faction, some coin, and 4 tarnished weapons for the hachets, and then xp, faction, coin, and patch boots for the dust... not bad for me (not twinked)

TWO in an hour
# May 31 2001 at 8:05 PM Rating: Default
I was hunting at the orc camps near CB the other day and saw TWO (yes two) hatchmen within an hour...they may be rare, but you can find them if you're determined (or maybe i was just lucky that day? who knows..)
Orc Hatchetmen
# May 18 2001 at 10:29 PM Rating: Decent
I found one on my first time in Kelethin. I got ported to the wizard spires and got jumped by TWO of them, lucky me. My level 10 paladin tore them apart for 3 hatchets. I gave them to a friend who has a ranger, so i guess they are not myths and you people are looking in the wrong places.

i remember something about a ranger or another quest for hachets. does this have to do with them cause i've only seen one in 3 well grown charecters, all who grew up in Gfay whent they hit 5
You've just gotta know where to look
# Mar 16 2001 at 8:01 PM Rating: Default
These guys aren't a waste of time, they aren't rare and they aren't myths. Now, I'm not going to pretend to know how new they are - I've had my woodelf ranger since December and I only saw one of these guys for the first time in Febuary, but I can tell you that the only place they've ever shown up when I track is just off of the path from the enterance to the Butchblock mountains.

I'm always able to track down and kill atleast two or three of them on my way home and I even kill one once that had two hatchets (yes - hatchets, not an axe and hatchet)!

Just for fun...
# Jan 20 2001 at 2:45 PM Rating: Decent
I've raised a couple druids, a couple rangers and a couple gnomes and high elves on Faydwer with a lot of time in good old Gfay. I first saw one of these with my level 20 halfling druid about a week ago. It showed up on track and knowing the rarity of the mob I just had to hunt it down :) Was quite fun, kind of like tracking down the little brownie scouts *grins*
Who what? where?
# Dec 04 2000 at 8:18 PM Rating: Default
I have quite a few questions... How many do you need? who do you give them to? and where are they? also, I know people have said this but they can be found on pawns and cents and such around orc hill. Also, what do you get in return for the quest? thanks all!

Um . . . click on the Orc Hatchets link up above under the "Quests" subtopic . . . it tells you everything you need to know about them.
Waste of Time
# Nov 16 2000 at 12:46 PM Rating: Default
If you are VERY lucky you can see these pittiful orcs over at the cut down trees by orc hill in my 2 months of playing I've seen 1 and only 1 and that was when iI was lvl 1 so I've never killed one of these orcs. Don't waste ypur time looking for them!
RE: Waste of Time
# Nov 23 2000 at 7:43 PM Rating: Default
Ahh.. so very true. I have had my wood elf ranger since January. I have only seen one on my tracking one time. Never actually saw the little guy. I agree..don't go out of your way to try and hunt these guys down.
Dont worry bout his hatchets
# Sep 07 2000 at 11:21 AM Rating: Default
When you first get the orc hatchet quest as a ranger you dont need to worry about finding this guy. It is much easier to hunt the orc pawns near the druid ruins. You sure to get 2 or 3 before you know it and its great newbie exp!

Found one IN Kelethin!
# Aug 30 2000 at 10:13 AM Rating: Good
You probably won't believe this because I didn't believe it myself! I had gone into the Scouts of Tunare, came out, and there was an orc hatchetman on the platform who attacked me! He was green to me so it wasn't a problem, but man I was surprised.

This is my third character in Kelethin, so these guys must be pretty darn rare. The only way I can see he would have gotten on the platform was to have spawned there... very strange!

It is realatively easy to train Orcs into the city. As a wee one on Orc Hill, I was soloing two Centurians when a bunch Spawned and agroed to me. As I saw it was hopeless, I ran to the lift thinking guards would take care of them. The lift waas down and I just slammed the button and started up. The Orcs basically "jumped" onto the lift still intact and chased me around. I ran around and ended up at the bank with still about six Orcs on me. Finally, the guard at the bank took them all in like a second. Simply, someone could have been killed in an instance such as this and the Orcs simply remained in he location by the corpse.

Doesn't surprise me - funniest thing that ever happened to me was heading for one of the lifts while someone was screaming train towards the lift I was heading to - no biggy - the gaurds would take care of it.

So I hit the lift button and when it gets to the top, much to my surprise there's someone's body on the platform and three or four centurians and an oracle. The top floor gaurds took care of them inside of about 5 seconds, but it definately was a wonderful surprise - I think I'll run around one night and see how many critters I can train into onto a lift for fun. >;)

I have a VERY good explanation. There is only ONE of these, and they spawn at a RANDOM spot in Gfay. It is probuly a rare spwan too.

This isn't as rare as you would think, numerous times I've encountered monsters who manage to somehow make it into cities. The only explanation my friends and I can think of is that these creatures are smuggled in somehow, maybe by inv. spells or through gaurd distraction.

I saw it happen once in Felwithe. There was a train of 3-4 pawns, a widow hatchling, a trickster, and a black wolf. Some dumb wizzie had numbing cold on the trickster and caught the widow and wolf. The orcs just jumped in. I was a 2 wiz myself and HID. Anyway. The two guards at the gate got the widow and all but one of the pawns, but the others trained right on in to the zone wall. Funny in retrospect, but I still have no clue how that guy lived long enough to make it all the way back.

# Jul 12 2001 at 10:55 PM Rating: Default
you people dont know how to train them into the city? its easy! pull a load of then near the side of city, not near the lifts... root them all, goto like, then bank, then after root wears, they "jump" from the group up there as mobs ignore the 3rd dimention or the "z axis" when in a game. Thats why when your on a roof, and tehyre on the floor, they still hit you, though you cant hit them.
Ran Across One
# Aug 09 2000 at 10:41 AM Rating: Decent
While on retainer tracking Faeries for a Paladin friend, I came across an Orc Hatchetman in Gfay last night. They exist. They all carry Orc hatchets. I was actively running down a faerie maiden and couldn't stop to engage. It was crossing the southern path near the BB zone. Orc Hatchets also randomly drop off Pawns, Cents, and Legos.
The do not exist :)
# Aug 05 2000 at 12:48 AM Rating: Decent
I have NEVER seen them. I am a high elf and have spent lots of time in GFAY. Have they taken them out of the game?
RE: The do not exist :)
# Aug 01 2002 at 9:53 PM Rating: Decent
The appear to be very rare but they do still exist, I ran into one a couple of days ago (July 29th or 30th, 2002) just north of the BB zone
That is the only one I have ever seen, too, I actually thought it was one of the new mobs that came with the huge patch done a few days earlier until I read these posts just now.

RE: The do not exist :)
# Dec 04 2000 at 5:22 AM Rating: Default
I would have to agree. I spent nine levels in GFay and never saw one in GFay. They may be in CB, though.
RE: The do not exist :)
# Sep 21 2000 at 10:22 AM Rating: Decent
When I was a young ranger, I saw them every now and then. Then, I never saw or smelled one for many levels. They seemed to have been taken out. However, recently I have began to find them again. Also, these are basically just Orc Pawns with a greater chance of having an orc hatchet. Any other orc in Greater Faydark with a hatchet may have an orc hatchet, or a rusty axe of some sort.
