This bugger is really ticking me off! I have spent several 6 to 8 hour camps in last week with not even a single pop, and last night I spent 18 HOURS STRAIGHT!!!! This is a bunch of crap! I even petitioned, response was they had not heard of a problem! Send in the petitions boys and gals, let them know this is BS!
In my 18 hour camp I did make 4500 plat in coin/vendor gems, and 4 BD dropped that are in bazaar now. The last 5 hours I did not even clear the ship, just kept the 2 near Capt. spawn point cleared every 20 mins.
It is wayyy to random of a spawn. Even the friggin AC is only 12 hours.

Best I got was a freakin' sapphire. If any verant employee's are reading this, understand this - camping for ten hours and getting squat = a not fun game.

I don't beleive it. I just spent another 10 hours camping this guy. I think he must be afraid of me or something. Verant needs to do something about this spawn time, and soon.

Well....spent two days hunting this fellow and have a few tidbits of info to share with you all who care for real-time facts and no opinions (which are frequently misleading). Heres an example of my experience...
We (54 necro, 54 Wizzy, 55 Druid and Myself- a 50 Chanter) one day decide that Dulak's Harbor wuld be a nice place for a little R&R. The facts are as follows...as HUMAN enchanter I was getting nearly one blue bit (1/5 blue) per kill off the ship's crew and engineers...all conned blue to us all. When the Captain popped, he conned Blue to all of us and as posted by the gent before me, really didnt pose much more of a threat. Grantdm he hits in the mid hundreds fairly quickly but has a comapritively low magic resistance (IE.: no need for tashani). First time he dropped the staff, and the following two times he dropped the leggings and trunk.
What I found interesting was that if I equipped my enchanter pet (the most usless pet IMO) with a pair of shiv's, buffed it with Shadow, Swift and Beserker, he could *almost* take the Captain and could easily take the crew. Add a few nukes and a few DoT's from your druid and he fell faster than a sailor for a dock-side harlot...hmm, how appropriate.
BTW, I noticed (and timed) a 6 hour spawn for Mon-Capitan (Spelling is bad, hehe) and keeping the decks cleared (swabbed?) didn't seem to help speed the process up at all.
Just a little first-hand experience for ya'll and note...I wouldnt suggest anyone under 50 to attempt this guy and his crew...it'd just not be to smart.especially my esteemen bretheren of the "enchanted kind"

Spawn time must be random, changed or linked to other activities. About 6 in zone and 3 boats camped. Killed all onboard. He (the captain)popped twice within an hour last night and dropped the truncheon, and second time arround the charm - plus 1 BD and 3 diamonds in 3 hours on Stormwave, this little necro thought she was in heaven.

Well a bit of an update since the recent string of emergency patches that have been plagueing us all lately. Since the recent patch, the great elusive captain has decided, we think, to change his habits. Now his spawns have become much more rare (only once in an 8-plus hour camp).
My brave company and myself have tried many tricks to get this lubber to show up for duty but to no avail. He doesnt *seem* to be connected to any of the dock-npc's, clearing of the decks, etc. Heck, I have even tried soloing (successfully I might add) just his place holder and a few of the immediate crew near his place holder position...all for naught.
Either the spawn has been messed up (with) by our wonderfull programmers (everyone ever remember camping an AC for 3 days straight untill they *fixed* it? hehe) of they have this gent on a purely random timer. Also, no more drops on the staff or charm but lots of pretty pink pants.

I camped him last night. It took three hours to get him to spawn the first time, then he spawned twice in a row (!). Dropped the charm both times, no legs.
By the way, it appears that there is a slight randomization to the timer of the spawns on the boat. I had set up a rotation, and a couple of times was surprised when one of the crew spawned early, so watch out for that.

I once camped the captain from 12:00 AM EST to 6:30 AM EST without seeing him. This was before the patch. His spawn time is VERY random and can be as short as 42 minutes as I have gotten the following spawn order twice in a row:(PH|CAP|PH|CAP|PH)
I started soloing this guy at 52. Clear the dock and fear kite the crew. Easy and very profitable. I bought many gear upgrade with the cash I made here, including a Zlandicar's Heart.

Here is what I've found from 20+ hours of camping the captain. The spawn time of the ship is every 21 minutes, this includes the two mobs on the dock. The captain/captain's PH is the MOB directly across from the gangplank that you use to get onto the ship. The captain is an Iksar with no notable resistances and not noticably more difficult than the crew. I have gotten all three of his known drops. One thing I noticed was that out of the 6 times that I've killed him, twice he re-poped 2 pops later. His loot is lore, so if you plan on camping him long term, have a trustworthy friend take the Staff or Legs when they drop. Otherwise you might end up letting loot rot or giving it away. The ship was good exp up until 54, now it's very slow. Gives me about 2 blue AA for every sweep of the ship, leveling exp is about 1/4 of that. Hope this helps...
I have camped Stormwave for about 20 hours and still havent seen him what goin on I'm killin every mob on boat, Do I have to kill just the PH and where exactly is the PH is it the one on the left or right near the catapults
OK kill this Iksar Capt today and he conned green to me at 63. Dropped the Charm and the Box. What is box for anyone know?

If you kill his place holder consantly you'll get him to spawn every 3 to 4 hours. I have sat on the Stormwave for about 2 weeks now and have slaughtered him about 30-40 times. I have given up 4 Shimmering Emerald Crystals, looted 1 Barnacle Covered Truncheon, gave away another and have watched at least 30 pair of those Oxidized leggings decay with the corpse.

How hard is his ship? I was on windscorn for iksar meats and it was pretty hard, this one as hard?

This ship is very easy compared to Windscorn. All spawns are blue to light blue to a level 55. They double hit for just under 100hp and there are no casters on this boat.

Does this guy still drop the crystal? After 30 hours I have got 6 pairs of legs.

Been camping him as well the past few days. Around 20 hours total, 3 sightings and kills + 3 legs = a not happy mage.

Yes, the crystal still drops.....just seems to be the rare drop.

This guys spawns on stormwave. First boat to the right of zone in from Gunthak. His place holder is the stormwave crew member directly across from the ships gangplank. Seems to be a rare spawn. I have only seen him 3 times in many days of camping that boat. In those 3 times he dropped 2 crystals and 1 set of leggings. He is very easy to kill with a 55 druid.
