I had all day Sunday to camp this guy for the Charm. I started at 10am and left the camp at 10pm. I knew exactly where he spawned but killed everything anyway. In the end, I was there for 28 cycles and the list of items dropped as I waited for this guy included...

Total Kills 252 (8/boat and 1 engineer X 28)
Platinum Pieces 758 (about 3 per kill)
Star Rubies 8
Sapphires 1
Diamonds 3
Blue Diamonds 3
Platinum Medallions 10
Gold Medallions 10
Silver Medallions 3
Stormwave Insignias 13
Deepwater Emblems 8
Missing Tombs 8

By the 252nd MOB and 28 cycle completed, knowing the Charm was rare, I figured there was only a cycle or two I could do before hitting a wall.

At the beginning of the 29th cycle, staring at his spawn point, expecting another Ogre pop (and my heart to sink AGAIN, he Popped!

I kill him easily enough and he drops only a missing tomb, and the charm. The charm is a rare drop off a rare MOB, so the time spent paid off!

So, if you come here for the charm, you could be in for a long haul, unless you get lucky.

Now off to get the Rust Encrusted Tunic off the Dandolek Boat, Captain Rockbelly...Ugh!

Ack! The subject should read.

Have been camping the stormwave for 2 weeks. Well over 150 hours. Captain popped only 17 times. Almost definately a random spawn. No order of killing seemed to make any difference.

He won't spawn for 12 straight hours, then will spawn 3 times in a row with no variation in killing order or method. Also will definately spawn even when only PH killed.

17 kills...and STILL no charm drop. My suggestion is to camp the nearby boat scrubbers aswell. Vurag spawns more often and has dropped the haste tooth 3 times while waiting for the charm drop.

Finally got the charm 15 hours of camping him on the 21st kill. So at least I can confirm that he does still drop the charm. HATE this camp, worst i have ever done.

Started camping him at level 54, got to 55 and 98% when switched to AAs.

Ended with 8 1/2 AAs before this finally dropped.

I camped Stormwave only once for about 4 hours, the captain popped twice, had the charm both times...was pretty lucky I guess. The captain pops on the bottom deck right accross from the gangplank you go up to get on the boat, he is the leftside mob spawn.

Don't give up, it's just a question of timing, I camped the Dando for over 15 hours, got the captain twice and he dropped the lame Barnacle Axe both times, the next time I went the boat was open, got on and the captain was already there, this time he dropped the leggings, hopefully next time it will be the BP...:)

By the way I did both ships two boxing a Pally and Druid, both lvl 56, very easy to do.

Be safe

I was camping Stormwave only for exp, as I had already seen Captain twice and had gotten my crystal, and a pair of pink leggings. I wasn't keeping the boat clear, soemtimes the lower deck would be clear but not always. He popped twice for me within 2 hours, I was there for about 6 horus total. First time another crystal, which I gave away, and second time another pair of leggings.
the mystery of the spawn

Just something to think about:

I see peeps including myself. Camp any of these boats for hours upon hours and never get a Capt. to spawn. ok - now :

I see these boats go with out anyone camping them for a few cycles. Three or more and as soon as someone comes along....after some down time for the boat...behold a Capt. Spawns.....This includes myself.

On the Stormwave: 1st time going to camp the boat. It had been uncamped for sometime and within 2 cycles had a Capt Spawn. ok. Now since then I've spent 12+ hours camping the boat and never get the Capt. to spawn.

On the Lady Di: 1st time camping the boat and behold same thing happened. Except the Capt. Spawn Twice in a row. Dropped the mace 1st and then the ring. Since then I've spent 8+ hours and no Capt.. has spawned.

Don't really think there is anything to this however maybe there is, just maybe ??? Besides it is a little hard to just sit there on the boat and do nothing when there are all those pretty MOB's begging for you to kill them and have their gems if any.

Just a thought about the mystery of the spawn.

I have noticed the same thing. I've been hunting in Dulak with 3 different chars. Everu time I let the boat sit for awhile, either because I'm in guild chat trying to plan a raid, or just chatting, and let the boat spawn and just sit for a bit, I get a captain. Something to think about, definitely

Was camping drunken pirates last night and someone was camping this boat. Well, they left a spawn too early and guess who pop's up on tracking? Dropped the charm and some quest item. Word to the wise... If you're camping a named spawn, wait for PH to repop before you leave. So that you don't see posts like this of someone just walking up and seeing the named and get the results of your hours of killing PH waiting on him.

I am not sure what everyone else's experience has been, but today I had the Captain spawn on me twice in 2 hours... still no charm (of course - and if I see one more set of those leggings I will scream! heh) He spawned at 8:30am EST, then again at 9:45am EST - so maybe he's been randomized on his spawning instead of a timer. I am not sure, just lucky I guess - oh he did do something really cruel this last time, he dropped a peridot which of course looks like the charm, only is stackable - I wanted to cry! lol

Anyway, good luck and I hope it helps :)

Well, this was definitely one of the nastiest camps that I have ever been on to say the least. I did want add/supplement some of the comments that people have left. One of the biggest things that I look for when I look up a mob is where they spawn and what their spawn timer is.

The Captain or his PH spawns at: -1140, n6. Right on top of the catapult. I submitted a picture, so hopefully that will post in a day or so.

His spawn timer is different and shorter than the rest of the spawns on the boat. If you are like me, you typically spread the kills out a little bit. Well, I'm **** and like to give my mana pool some breathing room for whoopsies.

At any rate, his spawn timer seems to be 18 minutes, and 35 seconds. If you have things evenly spaced, by 2min he will cycle across all of your other spawns, since his is less than theirs. The rest of the spawns seem to be more towards 20 minutes.

Just like everyone else, I too saw so many pairs of legs I could have thrown up. Luckily, I brought my alt along (dual-boxin), and took him from 48 to 52 while camping this little boat. And, I can't really complain a whole lot, there was nice cash involved. I also parked my Alt on the dock to the West of Stormwave where there are 3 mobs (2 boat scrubbers [Ogre or Troll] and 1 boat engineer [Gnome]). I then placed myself grouped with my Alt and on the West side of the boat where it begins to angle up towards the bow, but out of aggro range of the mast mob and the west bow mob, and would assist cast/kill the things on the deck. The two boat scrubbers will sometimes spawn Vurag [Ogre], who will rarely drop the Worn Golden Tooth (Neck, AC5, STR2, STA2, Haste [21%]).

Good thing about this camp is it was easy to to even without KEI. I just had to keep having my cousin (Thanks Timmry!) come take away all of the pp and gp from my characters.

Anyway, have fun. It's definitely a nice little cash spot, and here I thought trying to get that charm would drive me crazy...almost did.

Best of Luck!

Finally dropped it after 5 days on and off killing the lower deck solo.

9 Spawns over the 5 days

7 sets of legs (I took ALL my alts there and sat them on the ship , so they are all holding them now)

1 Staff , which my 36 enchanter is using.

And 1 charm for my very happy mage.

Day 1. 4 hours 1 pop - legs
Day 2. 3 Hours 3 pops - legs - legs - legs
Day 3. 8 Hours 1 pop - legs
Day 4. 4 Hours 3 pops - Legs - staff - legs
Day 5. 30 minutes 1 Pop - charm

Diamonds and blue diamonds all the way through , generally no less then 2 BD's and 3-8 Diamonds per camp depending on the time spent there.
