Ran this today on Live thinking it still took 3+ hours for the ring to finish. Apparently it has been updated as I was able to finish the whole event in 18 minutes and complete my Conqueror. Patch notes mentioned a change to the spawn speed back in 2017, but it runs 12 times faster than my old notes list. Anyone weary of the length of the event need not worry.
Fishlord Craiyk regards you indifferently -- You could probably win this fight.
You say, 'Hail, Fishlord Craiyk'
Fishlord Craiyk says 'Be like the water ______. The water spirits have fortold of your coming. I am a fishlord, summoner of the dwellers of the deep.'
You say, 'What dwellers'
Fishlord Craiyk says 'These are great creatures that dwell in the nether reaches of this reef. For 100 platinum I will summon them forth.'
[Give 100 Plat]
Fishlord Craiyk says 'Very well, I will summon forth the creatures of the deep. They do not like being disturbed so you must protect me from harm. I am very vulnerable when summoning the dwellers of the deep. If death claims me the summoning will be finished. During the course of the summoning many powerful dwellers will appear. You must watch for them.'
Fishlord Craiyk says 'Listen oh spirits of water! I summon forth the dwellers of the deep.' He then begins to hum softly closing his eyes and seemingly settling into a deep focus. Suddenly he shouts a mystical chant saying, 'XAX XAX tomae tomae XAX podiggle podiggle XAX AZKHAZKKKY!''
[Various anglerfish then begin to spawn. At varying intervals after disposing of waves, a stronger mob that can drop loot will spawn with the following announcement from the Fishlord]
Fishlord Craiyk says 'A dweller of some power comes, prepare yourself.'
[3 hours later, when the ring event reached its final mob...]
Fishlord Craiyk says 'I sense a creature of immense power has been summoned forth. My job here is finished. You all have done very well for mortals.'
[Fishlord Craiyk then despawns for an unknown duration]
As posted below, several hours to complete this ring for less than great gear, if you can even get any gear out of it.
Its timed, so you cannot do it faster. Seemed like 4 spawn points from which various anglerfish come out and try to kill fishlord.
Every once in a while (hour or so), fishlord will say something wicked this way comes or some such. Thats when to expect a red con, lvls 68-70, nothing special.
Near 4 hours in this ring and the best loot = a couple Glyphed Rune Word off of those red cons (droppers included: a dark anglerfish, a prismatic anglerfish)
Didn't think to record all the nameds in case they spawn in order everytime..skipping some we have had, in order: -a stringy anglerfish -.... -a dark anglerfish -a prismatic anglerfish -... -a prime anglerfish
We had 5 groups waiting for Ofossaa to pop killing time on this ring, definite overkill. 2 groups should be able to keep up easily, maybe 1 but semi fast spawns.
Updating as we do more tonight.... 120 ish anglers down with nothing but 2 glypheds to show. i quit. ;p
Not all that spectacular for the time involved. We were down to about 18 or so people by the end of it, and I'd guess this event could possibly be done with 2 solid groups with time to spare.
after several hours at this ring we got 1 necklace that had affliction efficienct 4. 1 or 2 groups might be OK for this but we had a full raid and it was serious overkill and very boring. Mobs spawn in waves of only 1 or 2 mobs per wave.all in all a waste of 100pp.
Erm, if you can stop your chanters to DC him and actually hail him instead, he will tell you something. Not the best talker but plop him 100pp and be prepared for some fun.
Well, fun if you consider another boring ring event fun.
