Just to clarify some misleading information (and since I've been soloing here a bit since it became a hotzone):
Neither variant of this mob (white or black) sees through invisibility. They are UNDEAD. That means that they are affected by IVU, not normal invisibility. Where the confusion comes in is that the black Valiant Spirits are not KOS. Thus, if you're wandering around with invis on, you'll see the black ones are indifferent and the white ones are scowling. This has zero to do with one seeing through invis, though. They both see you (as all undead mobs will if you're not using IVU). Just one is KOS and the other isn't.
IVU works on the white ones just fine. Cause they're undead and that's the correct invisibility to use against them. Sorry, but this is a pet peeve of mine.
Stuns work on both types. The black ones are immune to roots and mezzes (basically, no CC works on them, but you can pacify them). The white ones summon, but are affected by most CC effects (they can be mezzed and rooted). I can't speak about slows, but I'll assume that both partially resist slow based on other posts here.
Here's some info about the camps you'll find them in. There are three "basement" camps in HoH. NE, SE, and NW. There's also one directly South (actually along the way to SE), that has only one room (the first room). All three basements follow the same pattern. An upper room, with wings kinda going right and left (lots of corners to hang out in) with 6 of these types of mob, and a stairway down. A second room, with one entryway and one exit (either to the left or right). There will always be two of this type of mob around the entry/exit, with 2 more on the wall opposite the exit (when going in). The back wall when entering is always blank. Then there's a third room with live mobs, and a fourth room with the trigger mobs for whichever event your doing (one per basement).
Since I'm a paladin, I pretty much stick to the top two rooms. It's worth noting that in the first room, all 6 mobs are "linked" in three groups of two. The two mobs standing close together at the very front will agro if you pull either of them. The two pairs of mobs standing farther apart (one pair to each side) will agro on eachother. One thing to note is that the direction they're facing is important. Since those pairs face eachother, they'll agro. If they weren't, they would not automatically agro if you pulled their partner. This is important to note when dealing with the second room.
I tend to camp in the second room. Why? Because it's easier to break and easier to manage solo. The "blank wall" side mobs are always facing outward into the room instead of towards eachother. That, combined with the distance between them means you can single pull them (just don't pull one at an angle in front of the other). The two at the entryway (where you come in when heading down from room1), are *always* facing eachother. Thus, they'll always agro if you pull either one of them. It's interesting to note that in two of the three basements, the two mobs standing in front of the door leading to room3 are facing eachother. But in the NE basement, they're not. This makes the NE basement the best spot to solo if you're a class that can't split or CC them since you only have to deal with fighting two at a time once.
That can matter since I tend to like to take breaks when I solo. If I know that only one pair of mobs can't be allowed to respawn fully, it makes it much much easier for me to do so without fear that I'll have a tough and time consuming fight on my hand. When I'm rushing, I'll tend to pull any extra mobs from room1. They're always doubles, but since the first room seems to spawn whites more often then the second room, I can often use root to at least keep one off me for awhile to make it a bit easier. You can tag either the near or far mob to either the left or right side (when coming back to room1 from room2), and you'll safely get just those two. While it looks like the mob on that side facing outward is close enough to agro, since he's facing away from these mobs, he wont agro.
As long as you can handle two at a time, this is a pretty safe and easy camp. And it'll scale upwards as your capabilities increase (AAs and gear specifically). If you do it right, you can break the pair(s) in whichever room you're camping and then just single fight them until you get bored to death (which tends to happen to me after about an hour or so).
Well, I like these guys alot. Just invis yourself and run to northeast basement (nothing saw through invis, except white valiants). Second room where these spawn is my favorite camp. ><
Can pull ones along wall single, as well as ones around the door that lead deeper in the basement. Ones around the door that you enter from cannot be pulled single, so be vary. Now just to make sure, both (white and black) are only partially slowable. Didnt see much difference in fights at all. White ones see through invis and are kos, while black ones arent. Also white ones give a faction hit with Battalion of Honor, while black ones dont.
Stunnable, max hit is around mid 500, doesnt run at low hp, pretty fast hitting if you ask me. Black ones dont summon, white ones do. I'd say spawn timer is around 20minutes. Killed like 9 of em before my ranja friend came there and got me killed (bah ><). Got 2 ethereal parchments and one spectral during that. Got about 1 and a half blue AA per kill. Saw only one white, all the rest were blacks. Whiteys are apparently very rare. =<
Oh and just as addition, I went to arena with the ranja later and got some retribution. =p
Oddly enough, one of em didnt see through invis today. Same white one was rootable.
Once again post your class and level aa.If I took my level 1 bazzar mule there it would probably get hit for 500000 damage.WTF A warrior with full defensive aa might only see 60 for a hit.If you a a bazaar geared toon you probably get hit for 500/I have a 70 necro that only gets hit for 200 topps so -no it don't hit for 500
Lots of mixed info here. I have hunted these ALOT since my RL friend is a necro so can slow these. The summary by SDxAir is correct. THe only thing to add is the white ones can drop WINDBLADE and a belt-- Girdle of Mith Marr I think it was. Pretty rare drops though.
For adds you need to either off -tank or have someone kite him around wihtout snare-- tough to do!
The black's mitigate slow, whites do not. Only whites summon, only white's are aggro, only white's drop the good loot.
Good luck! Don't forget necro's can slow these bastages.
Cannot be snared/rooted. Cannot be mezzed. They may be able to be stunned(with an appropriate level stun) but am unsure. Slowable(mitigates my 70% slow a little). Haven't tried to charm them, don't want a charmed pet immune to all that stuff with run 3. They don't summon. Undead(some see invise some don't) NOT KOS unlike most of the zone, unless you're in wolf form(to me at least)
PH's are White versions with the same name
I've seem them drop Ethereal/Spectral parchments(rare) and soldier's notebook maybe one or two other vendor items, but not sure.
WHITE ones:
Can be snared/rooted. Can be mezzed. They may be able to be stunned(with an appropriate level stun) but am unsure. Slowable. Haven't tried to charm them, I don't like summoning mobs. They summon! Undead(some see invise some don't) KOS unlike their black PHs
PH's are Black versions with the same name
Haven't realy killed enough(rare spawn) to tell, but they have similar drops to some of the human mobs and I think they drop parchments.
One side note, a lot of people on these boards mistake the Valiant Spirits with the Valorous Spirits(these only spawn in 1 room in 1 of the basements and are all white), be sure you know which one you're talking about.
The black ones mitigate slow. Spent many hours down there this evening. They could not be rooted, snared, or mezzed. They were susceptible to stuns that hit level 62 mobs (Force of Akilae here). They could be lulled with Pacification.
My Enchanter alt always got the "Your spell was moslty successful" message when a slow was not resisted when fighting the black suits of armor.

Posted:Mar 14 2004 at 12:42 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) White not mitigate, black keel us fast coz we pulled two, and can't mez is true hehe. But the white ones are not in basement, they are in top FL...
The Valorous Spirits are located in the camp known as LF and LFB. (Left Front Basement and Left Front) LF is the room that you must pass through to enter LFB. Valorous Spirits do not summon, but do not drop the Windblade.
heres the deal....theyre both undead black and silver.....and the ones in front right basment if they are black they are immune to snare and dont summon, if they are silver they are not immune to snare but they summon.....the ones in left front are easy hit softer and are undead also but they are always silver and dont summon and are snareable...thats the deal with this mob. So stop arguing because youre both right, youre just confused because the mobs have the same name.
These come in two flavors. They both look like empty suits of armor. If the armor's black, they're less likely to see invis and reportedly don't summon. If it's silver, it is much more likely to see invis and will summon.
Hmm, I am soloing the silver colored ones and they are not summoning. I can root them a druid or wizzy is able to snare these. They are charmable to a 65 chanty and a 65 bard can mez them.
The silver one at the bottom of the stairs, front-right (NE basement)... is NOT charmable. 69 Enchanter, using Compel. Got the orange NPC Cannot Be Charmed message.
The Heck they don't summon, just tried one in Front right, pacified teh black ones around, then pulled the white/silver one....dotted him, rooted him, and then got summoned....needless to say I'm waiting on GY spawn so I can re-ding 65 lol
