Thought I'd impart a short story on killing Gaukr under less-than-ideal circumstances.
With an... odd party (65 Rogue, 65 Rogue, 65 Beastlord, 65 Monk, 65 Enchanter, 65 Cleric), we took down Gaukr yesterday. No big deal, and he didn't drop anything but the ring (please), however we had an interesting time killing him.
Our SK Tank went LD and decided not to come back, so our monk and BST were taking turns tanking while we waiting for him. No luck. It was 3am, and there were NO tanks LFG, so we picked up a chanter to fill his spot.
Gaukr is just sitting there waiting, so the Chanter CoD's a Militis and sends him in, figuring to suicide the Militis on Gaukr while we got him slowed, then the rather averagely geared monk would tank Gaukr... the Militis stays charmed for all of 3 seconds into the fight, summons the chanter and he dies.
Everyone gets back to camp after a short run to zone, cleric rezzes the chanter and reclear the mobs. Gaukr, again, is staring us down. We gave up on the CoD, and decided to DC and buff a Lesser to tank the mob while we slowed him.
Fight starts with DC mob on Gaukr, resists slow 13 times, both from BST and ENC, even with Tash) and the Monk tanked Gaukr to death with the cleric tossing 1800pt heals on him AND going OOM at 25% of Gaukr's life. At this point, Gaukr starts HEALING himself with his crappy spells. After his 25% life, he never hit the monk again and we sliced thru him with our massively DPS heavy party. As if that wasn't enough, RIGHT on the pull, one of his guards popped and we had to mez him also.
Sad part was, all that work, and he dropped the lame ring that nobody needed. :(
