killed two giants and both of them drop that belt in Firiona Vie
Non-plate

10ac? no stats?
ALL/ALL

Makes it perfect for any and all who cant wear plate. Too heavy for monks- granted, but just fine for those Rangers and Rogues who have the STR and still need ac when they mix it up in combat. Like the man said earlier, cheap ac for EVERYONE.
Yes nice for newbies.

Hmmmmmm, i wonder what the big deal about these are, 10AC, yahoo, ummm why do people like these?
they weigh 6lbs. and they have no stats. why not get a spider fur belt? 10AC 40HP some AGI and STR.
AND IT WEIGHTS NOTHING!!!!!
just a thought =)

Hmm, Maybe because these are around 30pp, and a spider fur belt is something like 400? This is cheap AC.

That and anyone can wear it. 10 AC in the belt slot at a cheap price is very nice!
We got two last night

I've been at the giant fort for a while now (about two or three levels) and yesterday we had our first straw spun belt drop. Then just a little while later, another drops.

My friends Character Tinko on the Zeberek sever just got one given to him by someone out of the blue! He is a lvl 12 Gnome Enchanter and this is a very amazing peice for him to have.

P.S. If you ever need help on the Z server just ask Tinko or my Character Karamyth, k.
Straw Spun Belt vs Fine Plate Girdle
# Sep 08 2001 at 12:49 PM Rating: Decent
Compare this belt against FP Girdle made by smithing... this belt is one more AC than the FP Girdle, and sell a lot cheaper (on Druzzil Ro FP armor is like 8 - 10 pp/AC). yep it is 2 stone heavier, but considering the AC it provides and the compatibilities (ALL/ALL, and thus easier to sell, in my sense), it is hard to find a point for buying a FP Girdle... Maybe VI should add one more AC for FP girdle so it still has its value on market... =P

Just my 2cp

I am a level 9 warrior and found one in the tunnels in East Commonlands. Whooo Hoooo
Weight

It's straw... spun straw no less. Yet... it weighs 6 stones. Far... unlike any straw I've seen, I must say.

It takes a lot of straw to provide 10AC worth of armor. Picture it like a tire made of straw that goes around your waist. ;)

Ok do explain how a dwarf or gnome can wear this belt? It was worn by a giant...the belt is bigger than the gnome...::shurgs:: go figure.

I've spent the last week in Frontier Mountains fighting mainly Mountain Giant Hillocks and Tumps but also some Craigs and Braes. An analyzation of my logfile reveals that I have killed no less than 113 of those giants, and I have yet to see a Straw Spun Belt. Mind you, 113 is only the amount where I got the killing blow, lots more have had their lives ended by groupmates, so do not expect to just waltz into the fort and pull the belt out of there :)

Nice? Yes....

My Gnome Rogue has had one since lvl 1, and has been very nice, but because of Gnomes lower strength, it's a bit of a headache with WT6. Oh well, I'll just have to save up for a TBB heh!
nice newbie belt

This is a nice item for newbies, it can be bought for around 50pp, and has 10ac! thats more than some planar items!

This is not just a nice newbie belt. It is nice for ANY level of tank who can't afford thousands of pp for a belt. I am still wearing one at 51 (got it at lvl 14 hehehe), the only thing I'd trade it for is an FBSS. 10 AC is invaluable.

which would be better straw spun belt 10 ac or thick banded belt 8 ac 15 str...

Thick banded belt drops in lower guk offa 30-33 mob(been reading up on this stuff) and would the 15 str offset the loss of 2 ac?

I agree. It amazes me that this goes for such a low amount...10AC is awesome for tanks. I know that it doesn't have any stats on it but it's a great piece of equipment - too often people overlook the value of AC for tanks. My druid & shaman both wore it until I was able to get +Wis belts for them...passed one on to my SK and gave the other to a friend's warrior.
