# Jan 04 2007 at 1:33 PM Rating: Decent
i have been camping this guy for about 3 days or so...still have yet to see a spell...other ppl have killed it, and they too have yet to see a spell.. has it been nerfed? only things that have dropped are the gloves, the no-trade mushroom, the earring, and there has been a couple times that it hasnt dropped anything....can anyone give me some insight on this? its starting to get a little monotonous....lol

It drops off the named shroom in Echo Caverns not in East Commonlands. It's purchased through LDoN pts in East Commonlands. I'm sure you all figured this out by now though.

This info should basically read:

Found in: East Commonlands, Echo Caverns

The reason it doesnt say "Found in: East commonlands" is because this is not the same spell. The one purchased with ldon points in commons is NO DROP

Camped the mob for 4 days strait, dropped the spell 4 times. Spawn time was at one time 2 hours 46 mintues and another 2 hours 53 minutes so I think it might vary a bit. I set my alarm for 2 hours 40 minutes and showed up each time. I missed it 4 times when I logged in cause someone was camping it but I asked if the spell dropped. I got 3 of the 4 but need 2 more to finish my alts. out of 31 kills(including other peoples) the spell droped 4 times so maybe it drops at at rate of 12.5%? Strangely it dropped ont he 8th, 10th and 26th kill...gave up after the 31st cause I got bored.

#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 30 2003 at 5:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Killed him today. Friend, 55 war and me a 47 cleric. Calmed all the ones arround him. Warrior threw some arrows at it. Finally went in for Mellee. Had one DD cast on me for about 150, Poison at that. Has all resists up to 70 on both of us but poison. The knockback did about 500 dam one time to Warrior. Hit it with stunn a few times. It went down in about a min or so. Was hitting for 30 40 tops. Not hard at all. I dont see how any other two person grp could die from this guy unless they have not a clue. Just get your stats up and calm the adds. Then send a mellee in to do the dirty work. Didn't drop the spell, just gloves and shroom. Good luck to all that try.
Common?
# Oct 30 2003 at 7:55 AM Rating: Default
Ok, well after cooking this shroom for dinner 4 times, still no spell drop.
I wonder what the definition of COMMON is here.
1 in 4?, 1 - 10?
Common to me would be about 50% of the time.
They should have this spell drop off of more than one mob. 3 hour spawn time, plus the contention over this camp make this spell very time consuming for the unfortunate.

As of the date of this posting, Remove Curse is selling for 3500-7000p on Povar. Not many ppl are vending it, usually never more than 2 traders at any one time are offering it for sale.

EG... though I did get lucky and get hold of it for 1500p this afternoon.

Anyone else notice that it will not "Remove" the Curse spell that the sun Revenants(sp?) in Scarlet Desert proc on you. You would think Remove curse would actually Remove the curse spell, but after 6 casts AFTER the fight was over, no effect at all.

Well, there are two effects...

____________________________
1.) Curse of the Revenant

and

2.) Sun Revenant's Curse
____________________________

1.) Curse of the Revenant is indeed a 7 tick (1min 6secs) HP drain curse that is checked rather harshly against your disease resist (-1000)!!! when it first tries to land.
As a curse, it is cureable... once you remove upto six (6) curse counters.

2.) Sun Revenant's Curse is not a curse, just looks alot like one. It is a DoT that also lasts for 7ticks... but does slightly less damage than the 'curse' version. It checks modestly against a -100 vs Disease.
As a DoT it is only "cureable" with some form of Cancel Magic.

Hope this helps

Well, I doubt it but there is always a chance that this curse your talking about is very potent and uses over 24 curse counters. It's unlikely but there is always a chance. Either that or it is really a disease or poison spell.

we decided to try this one out for our dear cleric.
ยจ
so i gather my lvl 45 sk, the cleric (44), a lvl 51 warrior and our favourite shammy (52). we run straight into the room, train ourselves and kill of the boglings first, letting the saphy nuke all he wants (resisted most of it), then turn to finnish him rather quick. i advice you guys not to do it this way, cause we kinda had around 30% hp each left. but after 5 mins in zone we returned with the spell that dropped on the first time we killed him. (way better than paying 1kpp for the spell)

I will probably get flamed for this but...I have yet to see the Bogs protect The Great Saprophyte or vise-versa unless faction has dropped enough. I have personally pulled the Bogs one by one standing almost on top of the shrum.

I found this out after running into someone (level 54 Druid) sitting alone on the pad itself. He explained to me they wont aggro to him yet and that as a 33 Cleric I could continue pulling the room (cause I didnt see him and was KSing on accident).

I understand this thread was for the spell, but I had to comment about fighting the Shrum...which is a real beotch if you dont have your stuff together.

I just soloed this guy at lvl 52. I am a pally folks. Cons light blue to me. I ensured my buffs were all up, including resist disease, magic resist, etc. The battle lasted a minute and i still had 3 bubbles left when thru. I did hit him with force and holy might but he resist stuns, so i hit him with dd spell. He was a ***** cat. YAWN bring on the mob.

AFAIK, this spell only drops from The Great Saprophyte, and Im not sure if you can buy it from him, but most people by the time they get to him will be KOS from killing aggroing boglings along the way. My guess is that he doesnt sell the spell. As he is a nearly 3 hr spawn and only drops the spell once every 5-10 kills, that means only ONE copy of remove curse enters circulation at any given day. That and the fact that Remove Greater Curse is a very rare drop off MUCH harder mobs makes this spell 2-5kpp. I lucked out a few days ago and got a copy for 1000pp ( had to take a 350pp loss selling a +7 WIS ring to a merchant tho ), but most times I see 2-5kpp on this. If you have the pp just buy the spell, much easier than camping this guy. If you are of a level to kill him and the 4 guards in the room w/o a chance of death, they will be green to you. Also note that all of the bogling weapons are lore, so no stockpilling them to sell to a vendor later. Now I can go to some Luclin zones that I couldnt before as I have this spell, which no other spell in the game can cover for.

I'd just like to take a moment to complain about insane prices on silly lower level items.

/flame on
First of all, i'd like to say that i think this post is total BS. This spell doesn't really have many practical uses that i'm aware of, (granted it has some later) but at the level of which this spell is meant for (lvl 39) 1-5k for a spell is bogus, IMHO I think its just cruel to take a spell as common and easilly obtainible as this one and sell it for such an outragous price. I've been playing this game for a while, so money isn't much of an issue, but ya have to remember that there are still new players added to this game every day, and not every lvl 39 toon is just gonna have 3k just to blow on a spell. This is absurd, get your heads out of the sky and realize this is just a spell, a lvl 39 one (except for pallies) give players a break and sell it for the normal price of spells of that level, 700p is too much imo, but more reasonable than 3-5k.

With the spawn time and drop rate of this spell, even if someone camped this guy for 2-3 days straight, he/she would only walk away with 2 maybe 3 copies of this spell. The value of items isn't based soley on the level creature that drops it. I wouldn't pay more than 1k myself for this spell, but that's because i'm cheap. 2k+ isn't unreasonable for this one, especially considering what it does later in the game. Besides, you think this one's overpriced...check out the upgrade, it currently runs for about 70K on my server.

If the spell is so common and easily obtainable wouldn't it make sense to put together a group and get it yourself?

The question of the price of the spell is now moot.

46 Gnome Necro.

Cleared the area out.

It didnt take long for it to pop, and I was full mana at the time.

I wasn't sure if I could solo, but figured what the heck.

Sent the pet in, and kept on hitting it with Torbid Acid blast. Although the spell didnt hit hard every time, it was enough to take him out. The pet never was knocked back, and nor was I.

I was never summoned.

Ended up with about a buble of mana, full health. The pet was about half health.

Although I have some good stats 195 int, and 144 dex, and think that it helped.

I was running through from FG on the way to Nexus and saw him on track - /shrug I said to myself - why not kill him. Dropped the spell Remove Curse.
Undercon if he is 35 - I am a 60 Ranger and took him out NP, but the Cultists added and made it interesting. Kinda fun to be summoned by a Gimp Mob - he must be a glutton for punishment.

I went and solo'd this guy a little while ago... Some information: Yes, he has a long pop time, but be patient. Kill the little cultist dudes in the room, or whatever pops outside to pass time. I sat down to med and regen while hugging a wall in the room The Great Saprophyte spawns in. It was an exhilerating solo for a 55 Paladin. This guy blasts you a LOT, and you get knocked back a lot, but he runs out of mana after a little bit. I had to LoH, but LoH was up again by the next time he popped. Unfortunately, he didn't drop the spell, so I gave up :(.

Drops from The Great Saprophyte in Echo Caverns. Spawn time is about 2hours 45minutes. This spell is his rare drop. He chain casts a combination of an unresistable poison dd, a knockback with roughly 135dd, and summons. He is usually best camped by 2 50+ casters, who can drop him as fast as possible. He has also been known to eat 50+ melees who try to solo him.

Verant really needs to increase the drop rate of this spell. I've killed the big shroom at least 13 times since I was level 52 and all he drops are gloves (common) and earing (uncommon). This spell would have been great while hunting revenants in SD, when they actually gave exp.

The Great Saprophite has definately been gimped. He used to summon, and had many more hp's. I recall him being immune to stuns, and for his spells to land every time. This last time he was killed, I was able to stun at will, and his spells were being resisted about 60% of the time. He did not summon, nor was he able to outdamage the four annoying greenie Bogling guards that agroed.

This melee soloed at 55. It is a numbers game. You do more damage/have more hp than it has hp/does damage to you.
I hate this camp. Long respawn makes it just a passing kill for a spell I would like to add to my book.
The sun revenants and reavers in Scarlet Desert are a reason to get this spell if you fight them.
