Quick Question on Haste..
# Sep 10 2004 at 6:21 PM Rating: Decent
Now as I understood it ... there are 3 types of haste:
1) Item ( Constant haste usually listed as "Haste" on the item, yes I know it has other listings )
2) Song ( including Jonathan's whistling Warsong (sp?))
3) Spell ( Like Swift like the wind )

and as I understood the Post for the Robe of Whistling fists, you could have another. Like Say FBSS + Jonathan's Whistling warsong will work.
so it would be feasible : FBSS + Jonathan's Whistling warsong + Swift like the Wind ( spell )= would work.

Am I correct on this or am I missing something?
eyepatch of plunder & epic?
# Jul 25 2002 at 12:59 AM Rating: Default
I know that the eyepatch of plunder is a "spell haste" but since the pic is more of a song than a spell do they stack? i have seen many monks with this item and just wonderin cause it looks to me like a waste of time if the hastes didn't stack (unless your just lazy and don't wannt keep procin ur epic).
RE: eyepatch of plunder & epic?
# Jul 09 2003 at 10:51 AM Rating: Decent
Monks do the Eyepatch of Plunder quest because it's a great face piece... Epic haste is superior to this (and does supersede it) but does not over-write it.

# Jul 26 2002 at 5:49 AM Rating: Default
If it gives a buff icon it is a SPELL. Eyepatch of plunder and epic's haste do not stack. Yes both of the buffs can be up at the same time but ONLY the higher haste is hasting you. The reason why you see alot of monks with both is because 10ac/dex/str 50hp 5svall face piece is very nice. Regardless of the right click haste.

Many bard songs show an icon it doesnt mean its a spell. It looks like its a fading icon but it does show.

These do not stack.

Ask there and find out for yourself if you are still a non believer. If you don't and keep on posting, well, not worth listening to.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 16 2002 at 3:00 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yes, our epic and the eye patch do stack. Eyepatch = spell, Epic = song.

Holy sh*t i gotta get this. But first I gotta get my epic. OMG 40% epic haste + 41% Sash Haste = %81 haste. Jesus. This is only 4% less than the total cap (85%) OMG no more need for chanter haste. And lets not forget the ac. Damn this is a very very nice upgrade from my fbss. I cant day... /drool

I' kind of shocked now that I looked at this item again... I used to dream of owning this someday, and now it is just... humdrum. I am not sure I'd now use this even over a Runebranded Girdle due to the loss of HP. (And yes, I do have a 41% haste item).

The Plane of Sky is long overdue for a revamp...

Above level 50 your haste cap will be over 85 %. At 60 it is 100 % Enchanters are still needed.

Unless there's a special rule concerning the monk epic that i'm unaware of, those two items will not stack. It's amazing the number of people that are unaware of the haste rules, there was a recent release from VI about it, and if someone could find a link and post it here i think it'd help a lotta people out.

The haste on the monk epic is different from most if not all of the other epics. It is a triggered spell (song) and as such will stack with ITEM haste. It will not of course stack with other cast haste unless it is one of the stackable Bard songs.

HOLY SH*T! so if monk epic is a SPELL, this is an ITEM, and RotWF is a SONG (if you want to bother redoing it) you could max out your haste cap no problem (70% i think...)

No.... only special songs stack that way, the majority of the songs (including the monk epic/robe) count as normal spell/song hastes. The rule is 1) Item haste 2) Spell/song 3)special stacking song (vah shir/ervaj song)

Haste Stacking
# Sep 30 2001 at 11:43 PM Rating: Excellent
Well you guys almost have it right :)

The absoloute Max haste stack is on a 57+ monk who can have 4. Anyone can have 3 if you have a bard lvl 50+

1. Item haste
2. Spell haste / Song Haste (includes Robe of wistling fists and monk epic)
3. Stackable Song Haste - 2 songs stack with spells, one at lvl 50 Melody of Ervaj adds 5% and one at lvl 60 Composition of Ervaj adds 10%.
4. Monk Discipline 100 Fists ( lvl 57 )

It's probably best to view it as 2 types, Item and spell/song - only monks care about 100 Fists, and most bards are not going to waste a spell slot for a 10% haste boost at lvl 60 - odds are 2/3 of the folks that need haste will be maxed between dragon haste item, and max enchanter haste.

As an example - let's say you have a Cloak of Uberhaste which for grins has a haste of 40%. And some nice enchanter comes along and casts Haste on you. - your done, unless your grouped with a bard playing one of the Ervaj songs but in this case it probably wont matter because you've probably maxed.

RE: Haste Stacking
# Aug 07 2002 at 12:01 PM Rating: Decent
I'm fairly certain most spell haste stacks with monk epic. Whenever i have Visions of Grandeur/Speed of Shissar, or even some lesser enc hastes cast on me, i sure notice a big difference.
RE: Haste Stacking
# Sep 02 2002 at 12:08 PM Rating: Decent
You are wrong. monk Epic haste only stacks with 2songs and NO spells. only the bard erjav line can stack with monk epic song, and the reason you notice a big differnce is because VoG and SoS is aorund 20-25% faster than our epic. you will still be able to right click your epic, but you will only get the ac/attack portion of it, the haste will not take hold over a chanter spell, nor will it stack k thanks, now hush about this)
Here's the lowdown...

Okay, here we go...

There are only 3 kinds of haste that are stacked:

1) Item Haste: an item you are wearing that has haste as a permanent effect. You can wear multiple items that have Haste, but only the best haste is counted. This is so you can wear this belt and a cloak of flames and get all the wonderful stats, but you only get the 41% haste from this belt.

2) Effect Haste: a spell effect or song effect, you know, the kind you see an icon representing the effect? Most haste spells cancel each other out as that is the way of spells (the stronger version ovrewrites), and the song effects overwrite each other aswell (as far as i've seen, have yet to see some stack). You CAN have a song and a spell effect BOTH on you at the same time, but just like items, only the best haste is taken into account. This is so you can still have the bard songs neat little bonuses (like ac, str, atk, etc.)

3) Monk Discipline: the Monk receives a discipline that allows them to have a haste bonus that stacks with both other forms of haste. This is considered a 20% haste, tho i do not know if it has been CONFIRMED, so dont quote me on that one. When they introduced disciplines they added a new system for melees, with its own counter and all that jazz.. which means it is outside the realms of stacking issues... This haste DOES stack with anything.

Now as for haste caps:

Pre 50: Your haste cap is around 80% (i am not completely positive on this one, so if someone knows for certain, please post the real cap)

Post 50: Your haste cap increases to 100%.

There are a lot of misconceptions about haste.
The way a person figures out how much haste an item or spell has, is by logging a series of attacks. They count the amount of attacks over a period of time without haste, and then with haste. Then they divide the amount with haste by the amount without. That gives a number like 1.? and the ? is the % haste of the item.
without - 20 attacks in 1 minute
with - 24 attacks in 1 minute

24 divided by 20 = 1.2 = 20% Hasted

So.. what is the new delay on the weapon/s?
Well... to figure that out, take the Haste %, add 100, divide 100 by that new number, and multiply the delay of the weapon with that final number.
Confused? Don't worry, here it is in formula:
Lets say a weapon that is 10/20 (for simplicity) and 50% haste.

100 + 50 = 150
100/150 = 0.666~
20 * 0.666~ = 13.333~ so 13 delay

A side note on delays, pre 50 the lowest a weapons delay can be is 10, no matter the haste. Post 50 it can go lower. This is something i'm not completely positive about, and if anyone can confirm please post. But i'm pretty sure monks can get their hands to 9/8 weapons at lvl 60 with full haste and CF.

Most of what is in this post has been proven over and over by testing. The only things i'm not POSITIVE about is the haste of the Monk Discipline and the lowest delay pre/post 50.

If a monk has this belt (~40%) and Celestial Fists (~40%), he has his pre 50 haste cap of 80%.
At lvl 57, with the discipline, he can have 100% haste for 15 seconds, thats without any outside help.

Oh, and Celestial Fists right click EFFECT haste is a 9 second song effect. Due to a recent patch, the effect stacks with things properly now, (you still only get best effect haste), and the haste will only stack with the item and discipline haste.

Sorry for the long post, but it seemed a lot of people needed some clarification on this issue.
Please post if anything i said is wrong, and please explain the testing behind it.

Hope this clears things up a little :)

There are only 2 forms of haste. One being item haste, (CoF, FBSS, RBG, etc.) And spell/song haste. (Enchanter/bard/Shaman)

Celestial fists is the monk epic and it is stackable with both of the above 2 forms.

the monk epic is considered spell haste, the bonuses from the epic will stack with most other forms of spell haste, but the hastes will not add together
# May 27 2001 at 5:44 PM Rating: Default
Alright most of you are slow, first of all this is item haste it does not stack with CoF, FBSS or any item that says Effect: Haste. Second of all The monk epic haste is a spell haste it will stack with this belt, third bard haste will also stack with it, i.e. robe of the whistling fists. And it also stacks with discipline hast. You can only get one of each type of hast if u wear a CoF and an FBSS you only get the cloaks haste since it is higher. Newbies learn this before u post stupid things and neck person who says cloak of flames and FBSS stacks can come sto Rallos zek and get their **** kicked
#Anonymous, Posted: May 21 2001 at 7:54 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) he doesnt know that monk epic is a spell obviously, ie. doesnt know anything about monks.
# Apr 17 2001 at 6:31 AM Rating: Decent
i dont think bard haste and enc haste stack even tho it looks like it does, you getting the other song bonous... and way you can still have 3 targets buffing haste... item haste (RBB, FBSS, THIS etc), spell haste (max is 77 dont quote me) then theres the disc that gives you an extra 20ish haste.. ok
RE: haste..
# Apr 30 2001 at 3:06 AM Rating: Default
Group bard songs dont stack... but self only bard songs do.
So you can have ench spell and bard song from robe and this all at the same time...
Oh and btw.. the Celestial Fists haste is 40% aswell..
just with them and this sash you will max out haste, wont need ench haste at all :)

Let's try the math again, shall we?

effective delay = weapon delay / (1 + haste)
Solving for haste we get
haste = (weapon delay / effective delay) - 1
Let the weapon delay be 16 (delay on fists with CF's), and let the effective delay be 9 (delay after haste from CoF/CF's). Keep in mind that Everquest seems to round delays to the nearest integer, so it may be calculating a delay of 9.something and rounding it to 9.
haste = (16 / 9) - 1 = 7/9 which is about 78%.
Assume haste on CoF is 35%, which seems to be the accepted value.
78% - 35% = 43%
So the haste on the CF's would have to be ~43% to bring the haste to exactly 9.

Or going in the opposite direction:
Assume haste on CF's is 41% and haste on CoF is 35%.
combined haste = 41% + 35% = 76%.
Let weapon delay be 16 again.
effective delay = 16 / (1 + 0.76) = ~9.09, which Everquest would round to 9.

This badboy is stackable with CoF and CF haste. I think you get about 60-70% haste w/ these items :)
RE: Stackable
# Mar 31 2001 at 2:48 AM Rating: Default
Yes, it is true. Said so right on the patch a few weeks ago. Only one haste item and one haste spell cookin at the same time.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 26 2001 at 10:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) For the last F'ing time. Straight from the mouth of Verant. Haste items don't stack with haste items. Haste spells don't stack with haste spells. The most haset you can EVER have is one permanent item (ie. FBSS, COF, this belt) and one spell effect (ie. Exe Axe proc, SLTW, AQ, right click from eyepatch of plunder).

Bard counterexamples:
Level 50 Velious song Melody of Ervaj:
Level 60 Velious song Composition of Ervaj:

Basically they took an unused spell effect category (according to the output of one spell parser, "Drain Mana") and made it into another haste category.

The haste on this item is listed as 41% on every site I've seen, for those of you who are curious. AFAIK it is the highest haste item in the game, but only by a few %, not worth the effort for the haste alone. The stat bonuses and low weight on the other hand make it every Monk's dream belt item.
