GRRR, most of you people make me sick, note i said most not all. I have been to about 15 Vox raids now, some guild, some open to all ( usually a level requirment for these tho, not gonna let a silly lvl 30ish get a roll if all they cant really contribute to the dragon slaying) and have more often than not left with no loot what so ever. Its not always about whats in it for me this time, but will I be included next time for another chance to win some loot. If your pissed that you got no loot the first 2 or 3 times, SO WHAT, get over it, your time will come. Your experience in the raid makes it go all the more smoother. And those who can do the raids will be sure to include you in the future. Oh and if you really really want an item, ask your guild if you can schedule the raid for you specifically just to try and obtain that item. If it drops, GREAT, if not, let the other items go to everyone else who was willing to help you try to obtain your item. They deserve a reward for just being there. Most guildies would be happy to help, unless your stuck in a whats-in-it-for-me guild, If thats the case, get a new guild.

dropping Vox
# Dec 16 2002 at 6:47 PM Rating: Default
Just a quick note to say MoY and AoW took out Vox this past weekend, only 4 deaths total and 2 of these belts dropped, an eyepatch and a spear. WEll danged if the first roll on belt didn't go to a caster, and then second roll on eyepatch was won by me, a warrior. We simply agreed to exchange the items and were both quite happy. There were several casters I would have bestowed this treasure upon if my warrior hadn't really needed this item, so if you go into a raid with agreed upon rules what does it matter if supposedly the "wrong" class wins an item. They are marked as all/all right?

I was stunned to win and have either item as it is my first raid item roll win...whatever, it was cool. Big rush dropping Vox - funny, that's why I went to begin with and got a bonus as well.

We (2 grps) dropped Severlous today on Tholuxe Paells. He dropped 2 RBB's, a Bard instrument, Green Scale (Gratz Fiddic), and 4 spells. Came to this site for some info on the % of haste and see 31, 32, and 40%. No definitive numbers on the haste but a lot of peoples opinion ;>.

I’ve noticed a lot of confusion about haste percentages too. I have found that the charts at the link below were very helpful in figuring it all out. It has stats for Songs, Spells, Weapons and other equipment and some information on how it affects combat. I hope this is as helpful to you folks as it has been to me.

I read every single pos under this item and see that every single post is everyone arguing about who or who shouldnt get this item. Where' the talk f how you managed to get this item? That's the reason people visit this site. Where is the info on the aste perentage of this belt? Where' the melee stories of how they saw Vox's claws slashing through the air towards them? Where's the reason we visit this page? All this arguing makes me sick.

...anyone helping take down a MoB should have a chance to win the item less it's no drop or class specific quest related. If my druid won a roll for this belt.. wouldn't make sense for me to equip it as I can barely smack a MoB I've feared --> BUT I could sell it allowing myself to but an item that would greatly help my druid AND the buyer would probably one of those melles who never won a roll on this item n' decided the ONLY way they'd get it relativly soon was to buy it from a caster who had no other use for it other than to sell it. That way the melle gets their belt n' I get to go shopping! Everyone gets what they want in a round about way.

*secret* It's a GAME, everyone enjoys playing differently, don't flame on anyone because they won an item they have no use equiping, it's still a thrill to win items everyone wants. If a person's good enough to let melle's roll on a melle item they just won, fab, if not life (for some) goes on.

Life's not fair unless you're the one who always wins aye ;)

Ok.. extra thought.. say the Tobrins Eyepatch droped n' there was a free rolling on it.. a melle wins it YAY for him/her.. they sell it/trade it for what they really want.

It's kinda amusing how people interpret whether it is a melee or caster only item or if it be a free for all. Unfortunately, these items take a raid force. Either by a guild or a public raid. Either way, the loot will have been decided by the head of the guild or the raid leader on which way it is going to go. It is usually stated ahead of time. That way, if you dont like what you see then don't attend.

I have attended many naggy and vox raids. Sometimes the drops have been good and other times quite poor. The chances of it dropping an rbb is one in eight. ( Not sure, but I believe that the dragon can drop up to 8 items from it loot list. ) The loot list for dragons usually have the potential for all classes but like any mob drop it is totally random. Example= 2 weeks ago on E'ci, Vox dropped 3 scales for bard epics. Made bards quite happy that attended but very little else for the other classes. It is just the luck of the drop. It will eventually drop for whatever item you want. Then there is the random roll for it but in the end, if you want it bad enough you either attend the raids or gather enough coin to purchase it.

That is my 2cp

Well said =)
As I've yet to obtain the level to be involved in any raid where uber items drop it's easy to think along the lines of.. everyone helped bring it down, everyone should roll. I'm sure when it comes time I'm able to go-a-raiding my line of thinking might swing entirely the other way.
Of course after reading through all the arguings over raid rolls n' so on I think I'll skip out on the whole ordeal & just save up for what I want =)
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 04 2002 at 2:27 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) people like you that reallllly tick me off. if a drood only ubbber peice of equipment dropped, and you were the only drood in the group, you would throw a fit if me a 51 monk rolled on it and won. thats crock and you know it. class specefics go to that class, end of story. if not then you have no conception of the phrase common courtesy.

I think that casters should have the same opportunity to roll on melee items b/c the dragons don't really drop something extremely useful to them, however they are there helping nonetheless, and if they take it only to sell it, then that's good for them, b/c casters need better gear just like the rest of them. The pp really goes a long way. Just my 2cp (as usual).
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 15 2002 at 12:31 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) no no no, if you want to argue that they dont need to be there, then fine, no one will ever go on raids but large bands of monks sks and rangers cause they can heal themselves and they dont need anyone else, that jsut dosent make sense...

Since i have been on the most raids I was honored with the Runed Bolster Belt!!! I was sooooo happy and being a bard the more haste the better :) Well lemme just tell you this item is fantastic and it helps me hit FREAKIN fast with my haste song and all never sell one of these if you win it...it is truly a great item :)

CHEERS! There is a man..woman? doesn't matter, that is truly wise. If all the greedy pr*cks in game would get over whatever it is that compels them to act like some do, we would all have more fun. Don't take it out on us cause your mommy didn't love you. I see both sides of the fight, certain items are better for certain classes, that's just the way it is. Wouldn't have much use for that eyepatch on my pally, just like that rbb would do little good on my shaman. You want to get rich?, me too, work together to do it.

I'm a paladin and I just got this belt last night and let me tell ya...I ain't sellin! this belt rocks. As far as looting it on dragon raids, yes it should be NBG the only people that don't think it should be are greedy casters who want it all. I've never seen a dragon raid that wasn't need before greed and If I did I certainly wouldn't help. I saw someone post further up about why don't mellee's try killing these mobs without the casters...well here's one for ya, why don't you try it without mellees

I agree with Heldor ...It is nt no drop therefore everyone gets a crack at it .
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 09 2002 at 6:32 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is really a melee item. I HATE seeing this go to a cleric or other pure caster class, the following classes should roll if only ONE drops. Bard, ShadowKnight, Paladin, Warrior, Ranger, Monk and Rogue. IF one of the classes listed here has something EQUAL OR BETTER ( Stats not included, only haste ) they do not get to roll. IF 2 happen to drop, any casters that carry a WEAPON ( not a epic ) get to roll WITH the pure melee classes that have no haste item/worse haste item on the SECOND one, this way people that will actually use the belt will get it. not some wizard you hasn't meleed for 45 levels.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 29 2002 at 2:49 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have to agree with the peeps talking about melees selling this item, since it has, does, and will happen. Also, you have to consider this: let's say this drops, but the eyepatch doesn't. What are you going to do? Melees roll and the casters get shafted? Obviously, the same goes for the eyepatch. Now, if both the eyepatch and RBB drop, then I'd say melees roll RBB, casters roll eyepatch. But barring that, everyone should get a roll.

Guy a caster should be allowed to roll, he helped keel it. And besides it NOT no drop so everyone has an equal chance to get it. If you dont like it, go solo one of the dragons for the belt
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 23 2002 at 6:24 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hmmm, if thats your opinion, so be it. but when you go on a Vox raid and the loot is FFA'd you're not going to be too happy when a Tobrin's Mystical Eyepatch goes to some melee, now are you? the eyepatch isn't no drop. its got perma see invis, why shouldn't i get it? (note sarcasm preceding this note) /sarcasm off BECAUSE 15 int 15 wis is useless to me. a caster with an RBB, whats he going to do with it? miss more? as it gets more towards the high end game mr Heldor the shaman, you aren't going to be meleeing(unless of course you think you can whack something with insane AC(Ssra temple stuff) and doubles for 400(Wiz epic mob)) eve if you have to melee. some of the AE next-to-unrestistable dots are nasty on those critters. you want not so fair loot centric type gaming, go play another game.

Every dragon raid I've seen, on my server at least, goes by a NBG basis so only melee(including melee hybrids) would roll on this item, while on the other side only casters would roll for the eyepatch.

RE: Melee Item
# Jul 20 2002 at 10:19 PM Rating: Decent
heh, last time i saw one of these, it went to a melee. Within a week he had sold it. If a melee can roll on it and then sell it, why should a caster?
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 20 2002 at 2:31 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm gonna put this arguement to rest right now. I'm a caster...a shaman. And no mob hits me without getting hit back...hard. I'm lvl forty and I use a frostgiant femur in my tough battles. With that I hit for 64-100 damage...because of my str buffs and the Yaulp 2 effect. So don't go telling me that because I'm a caster, I shouldn't role for this item. I've taken out level 45 melee's by combining my magic with my hitting power, and haste always helps.
RE: Melee Item

You're job is to heal and buff. Leave the damage to the melee/hybrids regardless if you can do 64 damage which isnt all that good in the first place.

Otherwise, let everyone roll on this, half of the melee that say they NEED it to use will just sell it any buy other stuff anyway (yes I know many that did that, they just sold this, bought RBG for its spot, and got other stuff)

Those who take the most damage are the ones putting the most at risk. Im not saying a caster tossing major nukes or Heals from the back lines isnt important, on the contrary in fact. But to aquire an item that will not be used in the fashion it is intended is just plain stupid. ( ie a cleric getting an uber mellee item, since most know a cleric almost never fights over the lvl of 20, unless their group dies which is the sign of a bad cleric anyway, or a train GRRR). And if a melle wins it on a roll with the sole intention of selling it is just as stupid. I am positive that there is someone at the raid who will be greatly improving their gear with it. Oh, and IMHO, if you have your epic, let the uber gear go, we are already jealous of you enough. P

The Final Word
# May 13 2002 at 4:52 PM Rating: Default
Okay, I play both a 52 Shadow Knight as my main and a 52 Necromancer as my alternate. Yes, their the same levels. So HERE is MY saying from a tank/caster perspective.

Having raided with both toons on Vox multiple times, it's always heart-wrenching to see the RBB go to a Caster who cant use it. I think to myself "If I had 55K I might be able to get it off them..." This is such a Tank item and what are we about? Aggro. Yes, even SKs. How can we get aggro? Smacking faster. Now how often do you precious Enchanters need aggro? I thought not.

Now the CASTER side. I always hate seeing Tobrin's Mystical Eyepatch go to a Paladin or other Melee who has no use for it. That +15 Int + 15 Wis item is by DEFAULT made for us casters <Remember, necro is my alt>. You KNOW their not really going to use it, either. They'll take it and twink some alt who has no practical use for it after we've expended our mana helping in slaying the beast.

See? No matter which side you come from somebodies going to whine and cry. Do I hate seeing the RBB go to a Caster? CERTAINLY. Do I hate seeing the Eyepatch go to a Tank? YOU KNOW IT. Theirs loot specifically for Casters (Eyepatch) and specifically for Tanks (RBB). So, the next time a Tank wins the eyepatch just remember how eager YOU were to roll on the RBB. And I will sit back and continue to laugh as I auction <WTS Tobrin's Eyepatch - PST!>

Belt for Tanks, Eyepatch for Casters. And I hate it when a 35 Shaman strolls in and is allowed to roll on the Eyepatch as well. Nothing a train of Goblins cant handle...

definetely agree. I aint no high lvl. my main is a 43 ranger. altho i have got some really great gear hehe. sum 50 rangers have worse. but anyway. i joined a new guild (gave up being leader of my old one for it) and hopefully when i get to 48 we will all be able to do sum dragons. as we have a lot of 50 averages in guild. I would LUV this Runed bolster belt. Not to sell. but to use. and on this site i am sick of ppl sayingthey are lvl 60 when they might not even play game at all. or just lie about there lvl. i cant wait to do my first dragon raid. Altho i'll most probably die hehe. but this RBB would be nice.

Ok, first thing I am all for NBG. Secondly, I will give all you people who think casters should win this a scenario:

You go to a Vox raid, RBB drops, they say only tanks roll, u fight ur way into the roll and win it. Tanks are outraged, ur guild is outraged and automatically you /join auction WTS RBB -- 55k 32% haste OBO.

Your guild heres it, don't make any notions about it but they here it. 3 weeks later you are ready to get into the big boys of your epic.
/guild Hey guys could you help me with <epic mob name here> plz?
*************************************************
Of course they won't, they'll say "go buy MQs with all that money you sold" or something. And I can betcha NONE of those tanks will help you out. So now what, your stuck with no one to help u with epic mobs? No one invites u on raids. Join a new guild? I don't think so, no ones going to let someone in a guild who is disrespectful, greedy and arrogant.

Buy your new spells, eh?
Work on trade skills, eh?

Oh well, do it like the people who have come before you, make your own money doing what your class does best. If you're an enchanter, make some jewelery, druid, make some hand made backpacks or reinforced acrylia, cleric, make some armor.

People, this game is EVERQUEST. It never ends, but come on, why take away a tank's greatest dream for haste. Only items better then this are Cloak of Flames, Cloak of Crystalline Waters and ToV items.

EVERQUEST=TEAMWORK
TEAMWORK=GIVING YOUR TIME FOR OTHERS

Sometimes you may not want to go to CoM for a druid epic raid because you don't want anything that drops there, but I can betcha if you don't come no one is going to jump up to help you.

Little things gain respect, learn it now.

Little things can help when a brother of the leader of the best guild on your server asks you for a weapon so he can duel wield and you give him a Sturdy Grimling Mining Pick and next week you are invited to a WW raid.

Just please, when this item drops and you are sitting there, remember that just like you the tanks need good things too. We can't enchant jewelery, we cant have 255 INT and master 8 tradeskills in a day with 4kpp. And, we cannot solo things at higher levels.

Making someones day is a better reward then making your own.

Droppable/sellable item
Guild raid = NBG
Pickup raid = Open lotto
Exp Group = Open lotto

Why do I want to come to a pickup raid if it does not benifit me. You'll keep aggro and do massive damage with it but how is that going to benifit me if we don't raid together? If you form a pickup raid and somehow manage to pull it off it should goto a person that helped. I don't want to be your friend if you are going to exclude me from something that I earned.

You act like /auction is destroying the item when its not. Most likely the item will goto someone that can afford it and can most likely use it. Why should it goto a level 46 bard when it can goto a level 60 warrior that wants it for high level raiding. In turn I will benifit and buy myself some decent equipment and MY guild will benifit from having me.

You should stay at 52 and keep trying to get that belt, that will definately benifit your guild.
Your guild is going nowhere because you are sittin around fighting over an item you don't really need. Get to 60 and buy the belt, hell your guild will prolly help you with funding. You want a haste item before 60? Try your luck in lguk or velks where they are much more common but don't expect to be defaulted a haste item becuase you are a warrior.

On the other hand, if my GUILD raids for this and it does not goto the HIGHEST level WARRIOR I would /guildremove.

I want to be in a guild that raids sleepers tome, not crushbone.

Just a thought here, Fistanidu, but don't you suppose that when you join a raid you would be accepting whatever looting rules have been set up by the raid leader? That's just a thought for ya, bud.

If your going to /guildremove because your guild only let tanks roll on this item. Why wait? I am sure your guild will be much better off because of your expeditios actions, instead of waiting to see what a greedy ****** you are later.

This is one of the most intelligent posts I have seen in quite a while... especially from an ogre. LOL. However, there aren't many guilds capable of taking out most of the mobs that drop this that would have rolling instead of some kind of merit system. Lady Vox is the only one where it is likely to be taken down in a non-guild raid, so I guess this only applies there.

~looking left, then right, then busting up laughing~

I've read every posting on this belt, and I will admit that you have managed to accomplish 3 things.

1.) You have beyond entertained me with your antics and squabbling.

2.) You have definately made yourselves look like nothing more than a bunch of children arguing over who has more ice cream in their bowl. Be glad you have ANY ice cream, children.

3.) You have all missed one serious point that underlies everything.

You see, boys and girls, this is a game. Nothing more, nothing less. Yes, we all pay our ten bucks to log on and go kill the evil denizens of the EQ universe. Big deal. That same ten bucks would get you maybe 3 drinks at a bar, excluding the specialty nights, with lowered prices on certain drinks. And yet, this same ten bucks let's you play a game for a month at a time. Best ten bucks I've ever spent, with very few exceptions.

I firmly believe in need before greed. I have never once rolled on something I couldn't equip on he character I'm playing at that time, simply because it short changes everyone else that could have used it, and might have if I hadn't rolled. I'll pass up the Chetari staff gladly if I can have a shot at something I could actually use. I kinda like killing what has the things I want, which makes me a bit of a strange bird I suppose.

If you don't need it, and can't use it, then you are taking it for greed. This belt has the the 3 most sought after stat modifiers in the game for any melee class, plus it has haste. I won't deny you the chance to roll on it, but at the same time, I will also remind you that I declined a roll on something that I could have simply turned around and sold, instead of giving you a much more fair and equitable chance of earning something you need.

Need before greed is a personal decision, and not something that someone can force on anyone else. Everyone can /rand 200, or whatever else is done at a dragon raid, by simply typing in the command. This game, and I cannot emphasize the word game strongly enough online, is about teamwork. The druid's damage shield is just as useful as the cleric's complete heal, the necromancer's lifetap, or the warrior's melee capabilities. Without a careful blend of all skills in this game, no one, and I repeat no one, will earn the right to own one of these belts.

Any fool can earn platinum, including a warrior, which I play and solo hunt with fairly effectively since the first level. Earning something is a world's difference, at least in my mind.

Looting, in general
# Apr 05 2002 at 3:54 PM Rating: Default
Seems to me there is a big difference in looting between "camping the dervs" in NRO and raiding Lady Vox. Camping the dervs can be done by any pick-up group from level 9 on up and is a good theatre for learning class grouping skills. The loot is, however, nothing special and it doesn't take long for everyone to become encumbered. When I play my chanter I rarely loot - she has only 65 STR buffed and would be running to the merchant to sell every five minutes if she looted anything but the auto-split cash. For the derv camps, orc highway, HHK, I let the tanks fill up - when they are full, I sometimes loot.

By the same token, in HHP, grouping with trolls and ogres, everyone in any group I was in there gave the trolls and ogres the orc scalps (or whatever they were) because they needed the faction. I never had a melee type refuse me a "page" when it dropped.

However, in Hollowshade Moor there is a staff that drops from a Grimling Chieftan that is for Druids and Shaman only. It is also worth 2K plat in EC. What do you do about that? It is a fairly rare drop on a fairly rare spawn. The group I am with up there ( as my shaman ) would see to it the the shaman and the druid get the staffs (LORE item) and then stick around until everyone that wanted one had one to sell for stuff they really needed. That is a LONG camp.

Having never been on a Vox raid, I have no idea how many times you can do her in a row, but it seems to me that if it is a Guild raid, then the Guild should determine how the loot is distributed for the benefit of the Guild as a whole. Melee types need the haste - the haste cuts down on damage so there is less healing needed which means the healer may have mana to do some buffs and dots he/she wouldn't normally have the mana to do and/or reduce aggro on themselves which means the melee types don't have to leave the prime target to protect the casters and so on.
By the same token, you need to feed the caster types so they can get their spells and their components and their wis/int/cha items. AND you need to feed whoever in your guild is into tradeskills so they can make some of the excellent crafted items that are becoming available now.
If you are above 50 and guildless and still fighting in pick-up groups, then my feeling is GBN is the rule. Either rotate looting or roll on everything. Members of pick-up groups have no one to support but themselves.

She spawns every 7 days... She is not part of a camp... She is a raid mob. She takes at least 3 or 4 groups to take down. So no you can't rotate loot. Unless you kill her one week and come back in 7 days...

"less healing needed which means the healer may have mana to do some buffs and dots he/she wouldn't normally have the mana to do and/or reduce aggro on themselves which means the melee types don't have to leave the prime target to protect the casters and so on."

First off, healers in Dragon raids are Clerics (I am one) and we don't have any dots. And second, when fighting a Dragon, if you have more than one mob at a time, you're doing something wrong.

Not trying to be mean, just gain a few more levels (about 20) before posting ideas on how to distribute loot on dragon raids...

Just got back from a Vox raid. This dropped, and a Cleric won it. No one ******* too much because they said from the beginning it would be open-rolling. "Need before greed"? sometimes. But in many cases "Equal risks, equal rewards" is fair too. And a Cleric in a dragon raid is a very risky job.

ok here is one thing that i do not understand: everyone says this is for melee classes, all but bard that is. what type of class is a bard then? why are bards so inconsiquential that they are not welcome to roll on this? do you believe a bard can not use this? you think this is not an upgrade for almost any bard? what have you against bards????
RE: melee only
# Jun 23 2002 at 10:32 AM Rating: Default
Our guild killed her tonight and 3 RBBs dropped. All melee classes were able to roll on the belt. IMO ANY melee class on the raid should be able to roll on this. I'm tired of hearing that casters were allowed to roll because the only thing they would do with it is sell it or twink it out. If a caster even thinks about rolling on this then he's a greedy *** and probably has no friends. Either that or he's a little kid that just doesn't think or care.

By the way, Bard and two warriors won the belts. Casters were NOT allowed to roll, other stuff dropped for them.
RE: melee only
# May 14 2002 at 12:30 PM Rating: Default
It isn't because bards don't benefit from haste items. It's because of what it drops off.

Vox has the scale, which is the rarest part of the bard epic, and bard instruments. So it's worth it for a bard to come even if they aren't in on the RBB roll.

In any case, loot rules should be clearly stated beforehand.

Main argument people bring up in regards to items like this is the haste effect. Bards have their own haste song whereas melee classes need items to give them haste so it's kind of pointless to give this to a Bard for any reason other then stat value.
RE: melee only
# Mar 26 2002 at 10:46 AM Rating: Default
My experiences, the scale is the first thing to be rolled on. Whatever Bard walks away with it, does not get to roll on any other item that drops (why should he, he should be happy as hell to have gotten the scale). Next thing rolled on is the Book, then the RBB. All melee's roll on RBB, including Bards that lost the roll on the scale. Not really sure why they would not be included.

I play a Bard on Drinal...And nobody ever said, Let the bard have it... Hey, I can sell that for up 30k. That's the shout's and ooc's going around in 7 Vox raids I've been on, and I still do not have it... greedy greedy greedy. It looks like the only way I'll get scales is to get rich on the market...

sighed,
Disappointed bard....

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 24 2002 at 9:55 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is a very funny point that you bring up. All throughout my vox/naggy raiding days, I fought for bard's rights to roll on haste items. Not that I was really interested in a CoF or a RBB, but I felt that a bard should at least be considered. Well, it now seems that beastlords are having this problem on our server. On a very recent Vox raid, one RBB dropped, all melee classes rolled, and the one beastlord there won it. I have never seen people make such a big deal. I am glad that bards are not the only class now to have this problem =0P

My Two Cents
# Feb 23 2002 at 12:42 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, I know this topic, the whole who should loot thing, has been killed, and will never be resolved, but...
I play both a warrior and a druid, and several other classes, both melee and casters. I may not be lvl 60, or have played EQ since Beta, but I can say I can see both sides of this argument. I personally prefer need before greed. My first experience with anything valueable enough to bother rolling on was a Gnoll Hide Tome in Paw. I'm told it is something like +10 Int, +5 Wis, blah, blah. I was also told it can sell for up to 3k. Although I knew, and still know it is INCREDIBLY hard for a warrior to make any kind of money (no soloing, I'm not a loot hog, and no higher lvl char to twink me), and I knew I could really use the money to help buy me some better weaps and armor (I still wear a lot of banded and have crappy weaps, all I can afford), I let the casters roll for it, because it only seemed fair. If it was an obviously awsome tank item, I would expect the casters not to roll. Well, we ended up getting two that day, and when one of the lucky casters proudly admited he would sell it for the cash, yeah, it really irritated me, because my thought was "Hey, I could use the cash a lot more than that guy who can make money selling his buffs/gates/whatever". But, heck, what are you going to do?
Honestly, playing a warrior can be the most depressing class. You are at the mercy of others, you depend on them for everything. And, if you're too poor to twink the crap out of yourself, you can't take the hits like a tank is supposed to, and you can't do the damage (thus getting agro) like you're supposed to, and then you find it hard to get groups, because people say that you're a weak tank. Then one day you notice you never play your tank.
At this point in time, I'm badly underequipped compared to others at the same lvl/class, since I can't buy the better things, and most of the things that I need to upgrade are either too high lvl for me to get, or I need to wait until someone want's to help me get the things I'm after. Right now my warrior is parked in SK, waiting for someone to give me a hand killing some dang Aviak Avocets, so I can get crafted gauntlets, because they are dark blue to me, and I can't even solo them. I've been waiting for a week now. And, when I finally get the Aviak Charm I need, I don't have the money to buy the 2 star rubies I need. In contrast, at lvl 14 my druid made over 150 plat in 5 hours selling buffs/sow/binds/etc at the gates in FP. Just some food for thought, but it would take me days to make that much with my warrior at lvl 35, in SK killing gnolls for example.
Just my two cents, from the sympathetic point of view.

Maybe if you haven't noticed.. but in EQ just about all of the classes depend on eachother. It has been a while since I have seen an enchanter try to solo mobs for exp. Please keep in mind that you are the one who decided to become a warrior. I think that you need to take your two cents back, because it sounds like you can't afford to throw around that kind of money. A warrior is only as good as his gear. Just my 2pp.

I suggest everyone disregard Whiteshooz comment and reread the original post.
This is a melee Item period. serves no purpose to casters. As long as casters continue with this attitude I suggest warriors go ahead and loot spells and then brag about how they're only gonna sell them.
The number one reason for warriors disenchantment with this game is purely based on the GREED of casters!!!
1.)Clerics have a fit if u loot a periodot, but, we go thru 20pp of arrows when we are the designated puller. 2.) solo??? for a warrior????? hahahhahahaha!!! OMFG!!! LMFAO!!!. 3.)We are the meat shield which often means we are the first to die.
The greed of casters is amazing i think peeps need to start looking into this.
Well i could go on forever about how warriors are really treated in this game... Its as bad as slavery when u gotta beg a lvl 15 druid so u can get sow at lvl 49. and then u got peeps like u takin loot clearly designed for melee in order to keep YOU alive so u can take more loot designed for melee to sell for money.

I don't recall saying that casters should roll on an item like this. Hmmm and for greed, I don't believe I have ever charged anyone for c3 or haste spells. You must have missed my point b/c I was simply stating that if you don't like being a warrior simply make a new character.
RE: My Two Cents
# May 05 2002 at 5:17 AM Rating: Default
Charge anyone for C3 or haste? As in the people you group with? Is that like charging to mezz, or a cleric charging to heal or a warrior charging to melee? LOL. What the hell does making a group as effecient as possible have to do with anything. Seems to me, if I were a chanter I'd be jumping up and down to keep melee hasted and chaters with clarity.

If you mean not charging beggers and wanderers, then good for you. I don't mind buffing people that ask either as long as they don't drag it out and keep coming back. Hmm. What the hell does this have to do with anything? I don't know. I always just think it's funny when chanters get attitude about hasting or druids get attitude about sowing. Some of the best spells in the game, shame not to put them to use. btw, I play a druid.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 18 2002 at 7:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i play a cleric and a warrior, personally i think everyone should roll on any item they want as long as its not not drop. and i'm sorry, clerics lose a lot more money then warriors do, and we do not get loot. after playing 51 levels on my cleric and spending the last 11 almost totaly on raids, i don't think i've been allowed to roll on more then 2 or 3 items.
RE: My Two Cents
# Mar 27 2002 at 8:41 PM Rating: Default
It would be nice if people would stop being greedy and we would all have good gear. I for one if I can't use the item I don't roll for it if I know that others in the group can. If it is determined that nobody needs the item to wear then we all roll to see who gets to sell. I'm sorry but there shouldn't be any looting for your alt if in a group with people you don't know in RL. There's no reason to fight over a damn game so just relax and let's kill some FP militia and all will be good. :)

No, we expect you to heal us and congratulate us when we win an UNQUESTIONABLE melee item, which will make us not only happy, better at what we do, and willing to help YOU when you might want to get something...

hmmm... if you're reasoning ruled, looks like nobody could do their epic... why would I tank something for you and let YOU get all your epic pieces.

On a random pickup group, where everybody is a greedy SOB, you're probably right and there is no NBG... but on ANY planned raid, including old-world dragons, there IS a thing called NBG...

How about a +50 wis range item... if someone said NBG and offered it to you, would you turn around and say "No, we should ALL roll on it, it's only fair."

Yah, I didn't think so...

.................. what a dumb statement. spending 6 hours to help someone your never ever going to group with again probably, when that person is a greedy lamo that doesn't want the 2 extra clerics on the raid rolling because he's so greedy 2 extra people rolling when 30 melees are already rolling is lowering his greedy highness' chance of winning is what everyone should do!

you people are dumb, do you realize that 90% of the cof's won on naggy raids are sold within a week to higher level players? what moronic thinking, only allowing melees the right to win this item to sell......... ya makes sense to me, after all. sometime i hope the clerics bolt before rez's are done because the people on naggy raids are so greedy as to not let a few extra people roll on the loot won beacuse it lessens their chances of winning by like 5%. mb your wondering why getting clerics on a naggy raid is so hard?
