demmit, stop arguing about numbers. you make me hurt from laughing. Haste on this is faster than FBSS, SCHW. Its not as fast as SAS COF. So, you want more haste than FBSS... get one. As for stats group with a shammy, they roxx. And if you really need a laugh, zone into the bazaar and ask what the haste is on FBSS, then ask about SCHW. Then watch the /ooc show. It's damn funny.

Jeux is a great site for haste data. It's also been absorbed into an even more awesome list that combines it with a lot of othter info from other sources. I consider this this definitive list of haste information for all classes (though it clearly has a slight Monk bias):

http://cloud.prohosting.com/~talone/HasteData.htm

If you know of a better site, please publish the info. Of course magelo is always useful and you're already reading Allakazam, which has links into / data from Lucy.

Many people are arguing on the % of the haste bestowed by this item. The general consensus is 24%, but as this site lists at 28% they cling to that figure blindly. Probably just trying to boost the price up to naive buyers?
RE: Haste %

Magelo lists it as 24% haste and it gets the info from the game itself.

a better way to test
# May 26 2002 at 6:11 PM Rating: Default
instead of useing a bard to test ir anyother melee why not give the itme to a caster, say a druid, can use 1hs 1hb 2hb ect, but no double attack and no duel weild. Just an idea.

Well a few reasons for that, in my opinion.

a) Bards don't get double attack
b) A bard could easily swap a shield into their offhand during the test
c) A bard's more likely to stay alive during a melee fight than a pure caster or priest ;P

Just my 2cp.

Oh yeah, almost forgot... Bards rock =D

Actually bards just don't get 2h skill but there are many 2h weapons out there that are bard useable.

Bards work best for haste testing because they don't get double attack thats why everyone mentions them. Trying to identify double attacks is hard, my bard sometimes appears to get double attacks (slasher / piercer combo and I see two slashes RIGHT in a row) and it is not an accurate way to check. Beastlords also do not get double attack so they could be used to test as well. You don't have to put a shield in your offhand, simply use a different TYPE of weapon and then ignore the piercings or blunt attacks or whatever from the offhand when calculating. Also remember not to use bard songs that add haste when you test. Timing the "melee attack" key depressions is another form of testing that is not accurate, the best way is to use the above method with logging on then go back and parse the log for all the slashes (or pierces or whatever) over a given period of time.

Another common misconception is that haste is calculated by taking the number directly off the weapon delay and while haste makes your weapons swing faster this is not the case. An example is 100 percent haste, take 100 percent off a 20 delay weapon and you get delay 0...bad math. 100 percent haste would actually make your 20 delay weapon swing like a 10 delay weapon so the formula is probably more like (delay - (delay/2)*haste) although thats probably not right either and it's irrelivent because haste increases ALL melee attacks including but not limited to bash, kick, backstab, monk attacks. This is noticible because when you have no haste your taunt and kick will "cycle" together (or backstab and hide) but when you have haste the attack starts to cycle faster than the non-melee skill.

Also haste stacking works like this: ONE haste item which means something equippable that has an EFFECT:HASTE and ONE haste effect which would mean a "buff" or something that shows up in your buff box be it a melee proc (exe axe?), a rt click proc (ashenwood short spear), a song (versus of victory) or a spell (swift like the wind) period. If you manage to get two haste "buffs" to show up at once you will still only be getting the haste off of one although you will get stat benifits of the other buff. An example is bard song + chanter buff, the reason the bard song "stacks" with the chanter buff is because all bard songs add other stats as well like strength. The exception to this is battlcry/ervaj songs which stack with any haste.
And another haste issue now that I'm in haste rant mode, haste has caps because Verant can't do haste math. Before there were haste caps it was very simple to "max" your haste by just using any two haste adjustments (spell/song/item/proc/whatever) because veran't math for a 20 percent haste item is to make you attack at 1.2 times your rated speed, add 1.2 with another 1.2 and you get 2.4 which is a little more than 40 percent haste. This appears to have been fixed but haste stacking is something I doubt Verant has down so there are probably some ways to stack haste that come out higher than would be expected.

Ick long post and not really related to this specific item but I have said my peace whew!

FYI nice item, as are any haste items, regardless of what the other stats are, if you've got better cool if not then let someone else use this.
RE: testing haste
# Jun 26 2002 at 8:10 PM Rating: Default
Formula is actually NewDelay = OldDelay/(1+Haste) so for example a RageBringer has listed Delay of 25 and 40% haste so it apparent delay is 25/1.4=17.85 which then gets rounded to 18.

schw vs dragon sash
# Apr 18 2002 at 10:55 AM Rating: Decent
i have both. i use dragon sash more because it seems to be faster. if you dont have either, i would reccomend the hadwraps. the added ac and stats. more than make up for the possible speed increase of the sash. save the cash. handwraps have also been updated with better stats.

go with the wraps. as they will help you more than extra haste.

Hey everyone! OK, here's the deal... I am a 34 dwf war. I am capable of getting a Sash of the Dragonborn and Crystal Chitin Gauntlets, which would replace my current Silver Chitin Hand Wraps and TBB (8ac 15str). I was wondering if the Sash is really worth the extra 4k or if I should use my spare 2k, keep the Handwraps and TBB and upgrade some of my armor. Thanks!

good point double attack is a random generation but to be completely accurate u must turn your misses on as well, using a Bard seems to be the most accurate when holding a 2h also the longer you time it the more accurate the haste % is. best way to do it is time 100 swings notice i said swings include hits and misses, and the hast is right near 27%.

Just to let you know the only real way to test the haste is by using a bard, and giving them a 2h weapon as u know bards cannot double attack, double attack is completely a random generation that can change the results of the test use a 50 bard and u will find haste is 27% on DB sash.

My bard doesn't get to use 2 hand stuff. Hmmm. I think there must be other ways of testing this. For example maybe ignoring the second hit of a double attack? Not to hard to differentiate the difference in a double attack and an attack landing consecutively.

take a caster, who doesnt get dbl attack or dual wield, get one of your friends to /duel and let you swing at them. the best way to do this is to log it with misses NOT filtered. then compare total swings (hits and misses) with haste and without. this is how they figure the all/all pieces

NO bard's get to use any 2H weapons, not 2H slashing or blunt, not even 2H piercing.
The way to test the haste is use a bard with a shield in off hand, there for only one hand swings and record all hits and misses.

I was just wondering why a sash of dragonborn is 20k and a fbss is only 7k on rodcet, is the haste on it that much better, i hope it isnt just cause of 2 ac and a couple % more haste?
RE: pricing
# Nov 08 2001 at 8:06 AM Rating: Decent
Well the SOTD is a lot rarer then the FBSS and requires more skilled and high leveled playerto obtain. And yes, its "just" 2 AC and some % Haste more. But even a small increase in stats can cause a big hole in your money purse.
Is there a level requirement

You all are confusing haste and delay reduction. Think about it.

The defintion of haste is "the number of extra swings in during some period of time". 20% haste means I am going to get 120 swings instead of 100 swings during some period of time.

Now, in order to get those extra 20 swings in, my weapon obviously has to be swinging faster. The effective delay on my weapon must decrease. By how much?

Lets say I have a 10 delay weapon. That is 1 swing every second. So, during 100 secs, I swing 100 times. For the sake of clarity, assume I have 100% haste. So, during that same 100 seconds, I am now swinging 200 times. What delay would I need on my weapon in order to do this?

200 swings * X delay = 100 secs
X delay = 100/200 = 0.5

My effective delay is now 5, instead of 10. My effective delay reduction is 50%. 10 * 50% = 5

More precisely, Delay Reduction = 1.0-1.0/(1+Haste)

Take an FBSS. It is 21% haste. So...

Delay Reduction = 1-1/(1+0.21)
= 1-1/1.21
= 1-0.82644
= 0.17356
= 17.356%

So, for FBSS, 21% Haste = 17% delay reduction.

You also need to be careful when adding hastes. Hastes are additive. Delay reductions ARE NOT. If I want to find the effective delay on a 30% Bard speed and 21% FBSS, I need to add the two hastes and apply the same forumla.

Delay Reduction = 1-1/(1+0.21+0.30)
= 1-1/1.51
= 1-0.66225
= 0.33775
= 33.775%

So, FBSS + Verses of Victory = 51% haste or 34% delay reduction.

# Aug 27 2001 at 7:39 AM Rating: Good
Pay more attention before you post anonymous. 100percent haste does NOT equal 0 delay. 100percent haste = 100percent more attacks in a given time. So if your weapon typically attacks 20 times in one minute (20attck/60seconds= 1attck/3seconds or 30delay) 100percent haste would make you attack 40 times in one minute (40attck/60seconds = 2attck/3seconds or 15delay)

# Oct 11 2001 at 9:54 PM Rating: Good
from what i have been told, many people judge haste differently, FBSS is 21percent more hits, and 17percent less delay, while both are correct, it seems that the 21percent is more often the one that is used when talking about it. as with all hastes, people want to know how many more hits =) hope this cleared something up
