would be nice to make this have charges, for instance, once you get lvl 92 you need to upgrade every piece of equipment. Needs to have enough charges to do so on every piece of equipment to swap augs.

Also, you can make it cost more, or even have a permanent effect, so you don't ever have to go to the guild hall every time you get a new aug.
Worth the price, finally.

Costs 432 crowns.

A Bag of Platinum costs 436 crowns and generates about 13,000pp.

A Faycite Shard, the type 3 augment, costs 15,000pp and can't be removed except for using this distiller.

So if you upgrade gear, better to use this to transfer the shard, as opposed to just buying a new shard for the new piece of gear.

Didn't used to be advantageous so obviously some prices have been changed.

I wish they would come down on the cost of this.
Weapon Aug?

Will this remove a weapon or shield augment, that was changed into a container type to make either appear "permanently" as that augment?

No, tested, will not.

I went to purchase this item on 11/20/10, and it no longer was available on the above NPC. So it either has been removed, or is bugged and may be back.

I successfully removed a 25 purity aug without destroying it. I assume that it will remove any aug if that's the case.

These are 1-use items that can be used by anyone, provided you have enough Loyalty tokens (crowns) to purchase them.

You place it in an Augment Sealer (Bazaar, Guild Lobby, Guild Hall, etc.) with the armor containing the non-removable augment you wish to extract. Then select the desired augment from the list and remove. One assumes you can also use it for the Type 3 Spell/Ability Foci augments that cost around 12,000p (from the faction Heralds in the SoD expansion) as well as most other augments.

Likely true since it remove purity augs safely, but I can't see it being worth it. This costs 432 crowns, and a bag of platinum which averages 15K plat costs 109. So this aug distiller basically costs about 60K. Any safely removable aug can be removed for a fraction of that, usually a very small fraction. Any type 3 aug can be re-bought for a fraction of it. The only situation in which I can picture this being worth it is if you're upgrading a piece with a 25 purity aug and haven't gotten progression done to re-buy the aug. Which is a pretty rare scenario, and even in such a case 25 purity really isn't that big a difference. Especially compared to 20 purity. The difference of 5 purity on one item is almost non-existant. The difference of 10 purity on one of my items amounts to a difference of 1 ac and 8 hp/mana using a pure light power source.

But I digress, I'm getting into an analysis of purity rather than this distiller. The bottom line is, buying this distiller over bags of plat is in almost every case a very bad decision unless they revamp the cost.

Fair point, Zaggran. With approximately 1/4 the Loyalty cost, a player can buy a bag of plat and get more than enough to pay for any type 3 Foci aug replacement.

While the purity augs can now be purchased using Brellium Tokens in addition to Chonobines, the price is steep if you are not earning many to begin with. So I guess it depends on how much "oomph" a player wants from their power sources and what currency they are earning (and how fast they are earning it). In some cases using this Perfected Aug Distiller might be worth it. May save a lot of time/effort depending on play style (ie. farming SoD zones for purity augs).

I can confirm that it works on Type 3 Spell Focus augs.

Note - Increase from 109 to 436 changes the math accordingly.
