level 8 druid
# Sep 08 2004 at 9:16 AM Rating: Default
These Scimitars make EXCELLANT Druid primarys. They are VERY comproble to the Druid epic - and are great for a level 8 Druid. no one wanted one the other day - so one persons alt won the race out to loot it, while we were setting up for our next hit somewhere else.

That there are no mitigated stats due to level is just excellant!

At level 8, sure it is great ... but nowhere close to the Epic 1.0: http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=3571

Lower damage, lower stats, no clicky ... hmmm

Faster delay for more skill ups, so I used mine to skill up for a bit ... otherwise not as good.

I just won loot rights on one of these last night. I am a rogue and my 1H Slash is 205 so this should be a fun way to continue to raise my skills. I replaced my offhand Slaughsomething Spear that I got in PON with this new weapon. The dmg/delay and bonus are similar but it has like double the saves of the spear... this will be fun to play with =) Hoping to soon have my Ragebringer in primary hand and this will stay offhand for awhle to come.

I just won this by pure luck Smiley: cool Smiley: bowdown

I zoned into UP to see about hunting elysians (and because I was getting my butt whooped this round on four-arms outside, hehehe) and a friend of mine had just taken down Zelnithak and had no use for the scimitar (one person there looted one before I got there). Below is a link with my Half-Elf Druid wearing the Scimitar and a Steward's Fanged Shield if you want to know what it looks like equipped:

Took 1 stab at him with 2 groups of people (level 57 average). We got smoked!

Second try we had almost 4 full groups (level 59 average) and lost half of our force until we realized the the Gantru Moktor was healing his ***** By that time we were out of mana and had to zone. That was bad.

Too bad people didn't stick around for a 3rd try.

People, just be aware that if there is an add to the pull that the add may be healing him.

I was thinking that a druid could put this in the off-hand, and give the appearance of dual weilding, BUT, I got one today, and you cant put it in off-hand. It is "either melee", NOT "primary/secondary", therefore, since druids dont have two melee hands, you cant equip in off-hand as a druid.

magic dmg 5 how does this work. does the mob your attacking have to use magic for you to get the extra 5 to dmg?
RE: magic dmg5
# Jan 03 2003 at 2:17 AM Rating: Default
nay, When you hit the mob with this item or any other item with mag/disease/poison/cold/fire damage on it the mob does a resist check, if it succeeds then this item only does 7 damage with a delay of 19 but if it fails the resist check then it does 12 damage with a delay of 19. hope this made sense
2 pick-up groups took it down...
# Nov 07 2002 at 12:59 PM Rating: Excellent
This one is not too diffcult to beat down.Tonight when I log my 60 RNG,one 60 CLE asked me if I want to join them and kill the big horse. After a few mins waiting,we formed 2 group.Only 5 of us 60(CLE CLE RNG ROG ENC),MT is 61 Pally, and others are all 55+.
We failed the first try because ENC aggroed it too early. The 2nd time is smoothly tho.Pulled it with one Fallen soldier,PAL engaged and didnt let it turn back on others too often. After ENC's 70% Slow,2 CLE and one DRU keep eyes on MT and we just stay behind it and whack our fist.
Its a long fight indeed.Didnt turn on the log so cant tell how much HP it have. But it take us about 25 mins to finish the fight.
Dropped Bracer of Might and this weapon. And maybe that day is just not melee's day,the lowest level one-DRUID won the roll(SIGH).Altho I would admit even with its 5 magic damage, most melees still can find a lot of weapon better ration than this(Fleshgrinder for example,or SoZ.).Hehe but this scimitar's stats just cool. Its hard to find a weapon with good resistance AND still produce good DPS.
Anyway,if anyone planning to kill Zelithnk. It would be easy fight if you got a Slower and good MT.Its AE is quite easy to be resisted with 150+ DR MR.Make sure your healer all have KEI and other Mana Reg buff(or Horse medding)because it will be a LONG fight to you.

PS as for pulling,no class can beat down a Ranger with Innate camo in UP hehe.Single it is not a problem, but it will run back to DA ring if your puller dont stop in front of the Tunnel to ME.It keep running back and forth tonight when I pulled it to the ME zone.So tell your puller to stop nearby the Gantru camp right outside the tunnel and wait there for Z to come over that bugged pathing.Just my 2cp here.Good hunting :)

One group:

60 Warrior
60 Ranger
60 Rogue
59 Cleric
60 Chanter
59 Shaman

+
60 Bard twisted aoe songs and meleed on the side

Took us about half hour total from start to finnish. Bard was key in pulling him to the UP/ME zoneline.. Took a couple trys.. wiped twice because of assasin adds... (this was before bard pulled)

Buffed up with cleric/ranger/shamie/chanter buffs getting disease and magic resists up past 120. His AE's didn't land too often and if they did they were minor..

Cleric, Chanter, Ranger and Shaman worked together using combonation of short heals, rune 5 and CH along with cleric clicky legs to keep Warrior kickin. Chanter also cast some nukes and slowed him...

Was a total blast.. one of the best fights tactics wise I have been in even more so since it was just one group +1 individual.

He does enrage so watch out! He does not run. Some of my nukes were sticking but not many. I basically meleed him the whole time along with the Rogue and Warrior.

Dropped Bracer of Sence and Lunar Edged Scimitar which i won.. and it is nice. Don't care what other peeps think, if you know your char (Ranger here) you know tha you have to constantly control aggro with spells and damage output of weapons.

Anyhow if you like a good fight he is definately the one. Go there and wait till he spawns! Have a blast! =)

I have alot of trouble believe you took this guy with one group. we took him down two days ago and had 3 groups, even slowed and crippled he puts out a fair amount of damage and our three clerics and 4 druids were oom and had to use mod rods too finish the fight. This guy has A LOT of hp. 350k is probably a good estimate. maybe it can be done with one group, but I'd have to see it to believe it.

Sweet Weapon
# Jun 22 2002 at 3:09 PM Rating: Decent
This is a sweet weapon, and is currently my offhander of choice on my 56 rogue. Guild dropped Zelthinak with two groups of people. I managed to be one of the few deaths since I forgot to switch from proccing to none-proccing offhander for the fight and got early aggro from my Praetor's Blade doing a debuff. Thankfully an epiced cleric watching our fight clicked me back in, as our clerics were too busy with rodding and healing, so I managed to get back into the battle. Fight lasted about 20 minutes, we had to wear him down gradually since we didn't have overwhelming force on hand ;)

Guildmates are always bugging me about my liking for proccing weapons so when the only other person interested in it was a druid two steps from epic I ended up with it...once I equipped it though at least one warrior decided he wants the next one that drops, for the look if nothing else :)

As far as the arguement about whether this guy or Faydedar is harder to kill, I'd say this guy. Faydedar can be killed in about 5 to 10 minutes by just over two groups worth of people, with lots of room for error (even seen him successfully offed with the wrong set of resistance buffs up, though there was much death on that one). This guy, while he can be killed by two groups of people, is a looooonnnggggg fight with that small a force, and there is little room for error.

Also to the poster who said he sees lots of pre-epic druids running around with this, I'd say that he's more likely seeing them running around with the much more available, not to mention sellable, Bone Handled Scimitar from The Grey. Same appearance, lessor stats, but also a nice weapon to have pre-epic. And the mob is soloable.

#REDACTED, Posted: May 25 2002 at 1:05 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) lol... I've seen alot of stupid posts for this badboy. First off all the Druids think they should get it, and laught at the rangers. Why the crap would it matter? The Druid epic is way better than this, and its your epic, and its easier to get... And Rangers.... Just cuz something says 1hs and has wis on it doesn't make it yours... This is quite a crappy weapon. For dmg a 12/17 (if ure opponent has low magic resist) is not that Great in the first place, and for the amount of effort... "Miania : he does indeed quad and flurry in upwards of 400+ dmg a hit, but he can be slowed and has rather low resists. he has roughly 300k hitpoints, so ezpect a good loooong fight." Wow that sounds like fun... who the crap wants this again? NOBODY... so if you fight this guy... Feel proud your fighting for a lost cause... and give this to the Guild Reject who is 57 and still wearing BCP and Wraith Bonehammer... I'm sure he wants it...
RE: tards... away!
# May 26 2002 at 1:14 AM Rating: Excellent
There are indeed a bunch of stupid posts about this "badboy" and the above is definitely one of them. In his purile insult above, this guys gets the stats wrong on the sword, and then acts as if no one, either ranger or druid, would ever use this weapon.

First off, I play a 56 ranger on Tallon Zek-- I see this weapon all the time in the hands of druids that don't have their epic. Some people don't have their epic, btw, not because they dont want it but because they work or go to school or have kids etc. Not everyone has the luxury of being an Everquest addict for life (like the guy above obviously is).

As for whether rangers can use-- I dual wield this in primary and in secondary Long Sword of Etherial Energy. This scimitar is normally a 12/19 weapon, and when Tashani is cast on raids, it is always a 12/19 weapon. I regularly parse my own damage (using EQWatcher Advanced), and with Chanter haste, I have also parsed my 55 ranger friend who has swiftwind and mithril edged short sword (10/18, 2 magic damage)(in primary).

There was usually about 1 to 3 dps of difference between us, with me beating out him fully half the time (and him beating me out the other half). This guy has been playing much more than me, since I took a break from game for about 8 months, and is better equiped in general-- higher str, etc. Still my damage output was very competitive with his when I was wielding this weapon in primary hand. Rangers, who use this, don't let "uber" losers like the guy above dissuade u from using this decent weapon-- I have parsed it and it is indeed a very viable weapon. The main problem with it is it is a stamina drainer because it is so heavy.
RE: tards... away!
# Jun 05 2002 at 8:58 PM Rating: Decent
The original poster is partially correct in one respect. In large "uber" guilds this item will most likely rot, which is how I happened upon such a fine weapon.
My guild was up in UP just doing some minor pulling to the border, we had 3 full groups and were in no way shape or form uber (I think all total by the time the guild broke up we had 3 epics, 2 monk and a shaman). Shortly after we arrived a larger "uber" guild came to the zone and asked if we would mind if they pulled rumblecrush and zelthinak (sp?) they proceed to kill RC and then shortly after killed zelthinak. Shortly after they killed the second mob (which our 60 shaman died to since he was the one who slowed it for them) they let us know that this sword had dropped, that no one in their raiding party wanted it, and that we could have it for one of our druids (can't remember if we had any rangers there, but they said druids so the 3 druids that we had there randomed it). I won the roll surprisingly since my rolls always seem to be the worst of anyones. They told me to go loot it, and my jaw dropped to the floor. I may be level 54, but this is definetely hands down the best piece of equipment I have ever seen, and I will use it until the day I get my epic, which will most likely never happen.
So yes, there are situations where no one wants this weapon and if you are in right place at the right time you may just get EXTREMELY lucky. :)

I was soloing at the zone in in UP a couple of days ago and happened to have my 52 druid and 48 warrior camped there just in case I got lucky on some no drop armor for them. 4 guys pulled Zel to the zoneline and took him down in a 15 min. fight. The corpse sat for 10 mins before I asked them if they were done looting. They said to go ahead so I checked it and it had 2 scims. on it. I quickly logged my druid on and looted one, then logged my warrior on for the other after seeing what a cool graphic it had on the druid. I will carry this on my druid for a long time, the stats are great and it looks cool as hell.
facts not fiction
# Mar 13 2002 at 2:03 AM Rating: Decent
My guild just took this beast down today and won this truly fine weapon.
in all entirety, hes not as hard as this thread makes him out to be. he can be done with 3 groups, provided you have healers. he does indeed quad and flurry in upwards of 400+ dmg a hit, but he can be slowed and has rather low resists. he has roughly 300k hitpoints, so ezpect a good loooong fight. his AE is also a very weak poison/stun combo, similar to woushi's. the biggest trick is pulling him to a safe spot with no adds. adds WILL kill you.

as for this weapon, mmmm.. tasty. i have epics and i still want this bad boy, too bad i didnt win. much better than aggrocaller in my opinion, unless soloing of course.

Rangers are not paper tanks if they're properly equipped at all ... they can have very high ac, 1100+ almost easily, and hp in the 4k+ range almost easily....They're not better than warriors at tanking of course, but they can tank .. and they have great damage output.

Till you are epic? The level to get this is 55+ (which means it is really tough to get, taking multi-groups and such) and you can get epic well before that. Besides, the Druid epic is one of the easiest ones to get.

Yes, while you should have SOMETHING good before going on a raid here, it doesn't necessarily mean you WILL have your epic...

however, the thing that drops this is crazy, hits in the 300-400s, AoE stun and AoE disease based DD... so don't expect to loot a rotting one =)

Sure this looks like a great Druid weapon, but if you have your Epic you're better off letting a ranger or bard rock with this. It took our guild, At Death's Door, 2 groups of 55+ people to take down Zelnithak for this. He didn't hit hard, but he's HUGE and had around 120k hp. If you look at ranger epics, Earthcaller's proc aggroes WAY too much and neither epic gives wis. This will take down ranger aggro (they're paper tanks anyway) and give them some nice stat boosts.
RE: Not For HighEnd Druids
# Feb 19 2002 at 3:14 AM Rating: Excellent
Rangers have nots one, nots two, buts three spells to reduce their aggro to monsters.

If a ranger mems them, uses them, Rangers can live through any fight WITH Earthcaller proc'in.

Also, with clarity 1, druid spell Protection of the Glade, or Clarity 2, rangers should nots need wisdom. The only spells they be castin in middle of fight is aggro reducers.

Me say this AS someone that play a ranger, druid, and cleric.

"You cannot kill this guy with one high level group."

I looted this rotting today, Zelni-whoosy was duoed by 2 level 65s, resulting in the rotting scimitar. I think "one high level group" (high-level = 60-65) could take him, as long as the aforementioned resists are high enough, and adds are mitigated properly.

Yeah he is much harder than any of the druid epic guys.

You can kill VSR, Faydedar and any of the others with 1 high level group. You cannot kill this guy with one high level group. This guy is very hard, maybe 200K hps and is in no way guaranteed to drop this weapon.
RE: HECK YEAH
# Feb 26 2002 at 1:00 AM Rating: Decent
I am sorry, but there is NO WAY you can take Faydedar with only one group.

This is a nice weapon to hold a druid over until they get their epic.
There should not be any reason for another class to pick this up, due to the low dmg output. Rangers and Pallys should be more concerned about the higher damage more then weapon stats.
Druids wont care about the 7/19, but will care about the 15wis, 75hp
