First Semper kill on Grieg, dropped belt, , week later, killed him again and dropped 2 belts, anyone /w dkp should be able to bid on anything they can use
MELEE / TANK only - have u lost your mind??
# Dec 01 2004 at 3:46 PM Rating: Decent
This belt is great for all classes period - all should get shot at it that can use on main --- PERIOD ---- IF your guild is disqualifying you from a roll/bid on this --- then your in the wrong guild

aye, a group of decently geared/AA'd lvl 65's can, granted it will still be a long fight. did him earlier today w/ 10 (rather low dps) and fight took 20minutes. it was easy, just took a while. 1 cleric healed me no problem, 1 bard chained remove curse song, and druid did patch heals. with MR/FR near or at 500 throughout the fight i resisted the blind all but 3 times (when bard song dropped) and upheaval usually did about 20dmg when it landed.
for DPS we had 1 monk, 1 BL (doubled as slower), 1 wizard, and 1 necro, all 65, pets focused with the LDoN aug. i understand he can be chain stunned by paladins as well, but am yet to tempt that.
Hard Raid Mob?
# Dec 07 2003 at 11:05 PM Rating: Default
Gee through alot of post etc people act like this guy is hard to kill... All you need for this guy is clerics siting at the bottom of the steps that lend to his room. Get a good tank and pull him to the middle steps not the very top. At this point a good CH chain with with the clerics able to heal clear of the ae. Then have druids / shams healing melees that get hurt from the ae or they can walk down out of the ae to get healed before going back with someone on corpse pulls and rez out of the ae line if need be.

Over all the only thing really needed for this is good clerics / tank. Taken this guy down with most the guild 60ish with 10/20ish weapon delays and FBSS or SCHW for haste. This said his lootz are very well worth the trouble to kill for a guild who is on the about CT level mobs.

For all you melees drooling over the this belt i saw an enchanter get one before because he could out bid all the melees on DKP lol. (thought that it was kidna gay considering most of the guild were still FBSS and stuff)
Dropped Tonight
# Nov 26 2003 at 12:40 AM Rating: Default
Grieg dropped this belt tonight on the Innoruuk server for Undead Legion. We were really overkill and didn't even have a death. The whole fight lasted less than two minutes and he dropped this belt. We gave it to one of our Rangers. Gratz Aildidar, I hope you enjoy it bro.

This belt is super rare, have seen it drop once in quite a few Grieg kills.

It's a nice belt for any class, but seems most suited for bard or shadowknight

Let's face it, this item is good for everyone. If it drops, chances are everyone will want to roll over it, so don't throw a fit if you don't get it. The only way I'd be upset about losing it is if it went to a wis-based caster (shaman, cleric, etc.) which would be a waste of its stats
RE: Good item
# Oct 10 2003 at 5:40 AM Rating: Decent
uhhhh why would you be upset about this going to a shammy at all? shammys turn hp's into mana
and i would have no problem losing this to ANY class at all cleric paladin shaman beastlord for cryin out loud, EVERYONE likes HPs and MANA, so to quote you, "lets face it this item is good for everyone"

Doesn't matter who it does to, it will still be usefull to anyone, healer or not. STA is good for all classes, especially at the high end, as is AC, and no healer would say no to 75 hp and 75 mana unless they were already tricked out with VT/tier 3+ gear.

The onlly salient point is, this thing has good haste, and that is the first and foremost reason why it should go to sopmeone who is going to use the haste first, if someone in the raid that kills Grieg needs it.

mmm 20sta 75 hps 75 mana is not to bad for a wis caster as well .. but on the other hand ,i would pass on this in favor of the sks and int casters .
not because i don't want it, but i think it fits them better .

RE: Why Int Casters?

He never said that the BoDS had haste - only that his WARs won't go fer items with < 41% haste. In fact, those were in 2 different sentences, addressing different issues. Look at the subject of his message; he was giving an argument for having INT casters pick up this item (read the post below, "Caster gear with 37% haste? Are you nuts?" ).

#REDACTED, Posted: May 15 2003 at 2:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This items is great for anyone to have, but you give this to an SK or a Warrior. Your Melee are who needs the stats. If you give this to a caster then all of your melee's better already have one. Why would you waste the 37% haste on a pure caster? An Sk would benefit from this more then any other class. I would quit my guild or never raid with that raid group again if this went to a pure caster.

omg I love the blanket statements people make.

Quote: "melees at this level don't have any difficulty hitting 255 in their prime stats with raid buffs"

Quote: "any caster who gets this is gonna already have max int."

Quote: "any group that has people wearing FBSS's, is probably not uber. In other words, you're not killing him, you're in Velks, looking for a pickup group."

What about new recruits into a guild? What about alts being run as a main on the raid because your normal main isn't necessary for the raid? What about people who've taken an extended break from EQ when the guild wasn't an 'uber' guild? What about server transfer people? Or other people who for one reason or another have lost gear (bugs etc)?

Quote: "So, sure your melee can get one of these. After me. Or over my dead body." or the "I'll quit my guild if this goes to anyone else"

If your guild can kill the mob that drops this, then why do you think they'd only kill this mob ONCE? You may not get the drop this time, but then hopefully the guild will kill the mob several times and get several people the item. If, after 1/2 a dozen drops it still hasn't gone to a class you think really should be getting, then maybe consider quitting, just not on the first coupla drops.

and the generic oft heard
"this is an <insert class here> item"
"any guild doing this is a DKP guild"

Not all uber guilds (tho I think most are) are DKP guilds.

The class an item should go to is determined as follows:
1) However in the hell the guild/person (it could be an open raid heh) decides!

The usual ways in no particular order are:
* DKP
* /random
* raidleader assigned
* plooted :(
* dueled over :)

I could go on...but I need to go and apply the flame retardant.

it is nice for every class but who could really use it the most, ac and stats on raids arent gonna matter because if you don't get aego or avatar and kei for casters and whatever else then you or your guild shouldn't be there but honestly its all/all so everyone who needs one (hence the word needs) should roll

The post a few down is absolutely correct. This would benefit an SK more than just about any other class. There isnt a single stat wasted. I would be very disappointed if this went to a different class, particularily any other melee class. I suppose a NEC could get use out of this item, but with these stats, that just doesnt make sense.

This is an ideal SK belt, one of the better ones in the game for that matter.

What he said is what we do. Council of Grey on CT server, we aren't tope end by any stretch of the imagination. Hell, we got how many, 6 guilds within a month's reach of VT or already in? Yea, anyway heh..

The belt is pretty freaking good. Yea there are better belts, you got your belt of dwarf slaying, your belts off Ssra boss's, whatever. The thing is, Grieg is kinda easy compared to those guys.

Some of you ask, why the hell do monks say every light weight item should be for a monk? Well, the answer is unfortunate. Take a look at high end loot and usable classes. Monks have weapons, Xave's headband, our epic gloves, and few others (quest stuff etc). There are plenty of plate class only or int-caster only items in relation to leather-only. Yea a lot of newbies want it just because they can ditch their FBSS for something ub3r!!1!1 but at higher end it's simply the fact that monks are forced to roll/bid on a lot of all/all items. I personally would roll on this belt, no question, but would recognize everybody else's desire as well.

Some of us aren't that greedy, we just want it all =).

I would take this belt over Belt of Dwarf Slaying any day as an SK. What isnt shown above, to which I have sent an email to Allak, is that this item also has 37% haste.

This belt is terrific.

Magelo lists haste at 37%. By the time you can kill Grieg, every melee has at least a 36% haste item. Those that want this, typically won't want it for it's haste effect. My monk, for instance, will be passing on this for a long time -- there are many other items he wants before this.
RE: Haste was added to this

They do?

And where, pray tell, are all these 36% haste belts dropping from?

Most tanks at this level are using RBBs or RBGs. That's only 31% haste. This is way better.

Monk epic hastes stacks with item haste, just FYI. But whoever says that just because you kill this guy you already have 41% haste or whatever is wrong. We just killed this fellow and I am coming in with an uber 26% haste belt myself. I am pretty sure no monks in my guild would roll for this anyhow.

This is a good item. There is no denying that. Many classes could benefit from having it. Saying it should go to one class or another and getting angry at people who think their class needs it more than yours is a futile waste of time. You won't get this solo. You won't get it with five of your closest friends. You won't get it with a pick-up raid either. The only way you will get it is with a guild (or maybe more than one guild depending on power level of guild). That being said, this piece of loot will be given to someone based on whatever rules your guild uses for doling out loot. If you get as bent out of shape over who gets it as many people have on this thread, then your guild will probably kick you out.

I play a monk, and yes, I would most definitely like to have this one day when I get haste in a different slot. But, if perchance I get a better haste item in a different slot and my guild gets this item and it is not awarded to me, I will be patient knowing that my day will eventually come.

P.S. When I say "you", I am referring to whomever reads this and not to any of the previous posters.

The intelligence is not wasted, in the high end game intelligence helps melee classes raise their skills faster, and lord knows they raise extremely slow. That is why you see lots of high end melee items with +int or +wis on them. Can you say Cloak Of Piety, Lodizal Shield, Argoth's Belt of Defense, Shroud of the Dar Brood?

Moron, if you think about it high end players dont need their skillz up, they have used the last 60 lvl's to get em up there.

Ahhh, back again in wonderment of this fine piece. Only to find *dramatic pause* hypocrites. Oh god no, not that. Ye say my remark made in jest about INT was 'a dumb excuse'. Hi, did I make an excuse? No, no excuses here. Ultimate Power you say? Ah yes, the ultimate power being giving an immense amount of aide to the wearer, which would also carry the stipulation that it may not require the wearer utilizes all of the stats. Moreover, 'SK item!' now I might take that as objective speech if it wasn't coming from SK's. The same SK's that are saying "Monks are greedy because they think everything with low weight and high AC is a Monk item". Well take a deep breath for this one, junior... Just because an item has INT and high AC it sure as heck doesn't make it an SK item. And now, let's throw in the chanters. Ah yes, god love ya, you're great in groups AND on raids and needed most everywhere. But wait! Now you're also claiming precedence for an item while out of the other side of your mouth saying Monks are greedy bastiges that claim items as /gasp! MONK items? What a concept. It's those Monks, I tell you, greedy genetics. Why, no one claims items for their own class, only the Monks. Let's try this on for size. First off, realistically speaking, this mob is slain by guild efforts. Not pick up raids or multi group efforts at random but guild events. Now usually the main tanks and main puller(s) will have priority. Now am I saying no one else can get this? Nosirree bob! But this is the 'normal' way loot is dealt out. With your attitude of 'if this item was ever handed out to anyone other than *insert class here* I'd quit the guild' rest assured, you'll not have to worry about having a guild to quit. Am I ranting? Heck naw. I'm just saying look at yourself before you start complaining and moaning at folks like me who acknowledge that an item is nice. I said I'd like to have it as a Monk, didn't say it was exclusive. Perhaps a strategy some of ye SK and Chanter types could learn from. Lighten up 'n play the game for fun, not lewtz :/
omg lol
