As of Nov. 10, 2003, these things are still commanding high prices.
I couldn't believe the prices here, so I put one up for sale for 70k in the bazaar on Vazaelle. It sold the first night much to my surprise. I must have underpriced it lol.

If you don't want to spend the money to buy one, don't buy it. No big deal. Use your plat for something else. Other people obviously see this item as having some value, otherwise it wouldn't sell for so much. Just because YOU happen to think it's worthless, doesn't necessarily mean that everyone else does too.
...and if someone were going to buy this for 175k, had the money to do it, and thought it was worthwhile to get at that price, I seriously doubt they'd be broke after buying it. If you have 175k to 'throw away', more power to ya.
Next time, Dessimus, try not to break the profanity filter, huh?

Posted:Jul 10 2002 at 11:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you obviously dont know what your talking about
1. Necros rarely, if ever, charm and then only undead.
2. If Necro's are healing in a group setting you are probably *****'d.
3. Each rez requires someone to take a full exp death... Yeah, sign me up to take a full exp death.. Not!
As far as mages go
1. Mage pets out damage necro pets easy... always. And in many sitings a mage can out damage a necro.
2. Using rods a totally oom level 60 cleric can get to Full mana in a little more than 30 secs and still have mana left. Necro "twiching" cannot come to that.
3. -60 to a targets resists is pretty big debuff.
4. A puller in trouble can be CoH'd instead of dieing in a bad place.
5. 33 point damage shield can add up fast.
6. Mutiple mages in a group or on a raid work out far better than multiple necros.. since necro dots don't yet stack.
7. Mages generate a lot less argo than necros, even if they are doing more damage.
Necros are a great class, one of the best, but they aren't perfect... And mages are surely far better than you appear to know.
Kinda wrong here ... 1. Necros charming the undead versus the undead is just sick haste the charm, slow the enemy. Try it in the Grey. 2. Agreed, Necros can however help with healing quite nicely. And Mages can not heal anything but their pets, necros can heal anything. 3. Mages don't even have a rez, Necro rez is a convience not something that makes the class (That's the Cleric's and Pallies deal) And we go on ... 1. Agreed, this is mainly due to Magi summoned items however. Getting to choose your pets style is a big plus too. Mages are much much more pet orientated though. The Pet makes the mage, the pet helps the necro. 2. As of that patch about a year ago there's a recast on rods, yay twitching. 3. Yup, and have the necro scent after the mage's unresistable spell to get a ton of debuff. 4. Yup, this is one of those special skills a Mage has and nobody else does. 5. In 90% of situations a mob will be slowed meaning damage shields are not as effective. It is however, exetremely effective versus non-slowable mobs and while soloing. 6. Necros dots don't stack? Where'd you get that information? 16 Necros can FPoK a mob and deal 20k in 54 seconds. 7. Wha? I can cast 4 dots with a good pally tankin and on the 5th I get agro. On my mage (much lower level) I can nuke twice before I get agro. Dots generate much lower agro than a nuke. My druid friend agrees. Try to continually dot a mob (one right after the other) and then nuke a mob over and over and see what gets you agro first. This is especially true if you are resist debuffing a mob like you implied above. I know after I debuff I can't even sit down let alone nuke.
In the end for raw DPS the Mage is the way to go. Many mages rival wizards in DPS that I've seen. However, Necros are a very very versatile class. They can heal, mez, nuke, dot, pet, slow, cure diesease, twitch, group tap, group mana flow, debuff resists, and resist stats. Let's not mention never ever having to worry about mana (instead life, which everyone worries about). In a group that needs a bit more balance a necro ought to be choosen over a mage if DPS is already good.

Dont know what kinda of necro you have been grouping with, but I have been the main healer in a quite a few groups and so far havent lost a member. In fact last night we were pulling in cazic just last night and i was the main healer.
If a necro is played correctly, he can be one of the greatest assests to a group...but if not, at least he pet is doing damage :P
My necro never got voice graft to work tried casting it on me and pet and all that but never worked even asked like 10 other necros if they ever got it, and they said it was broken. Is this true or did they fix it?
3) /say I love my master, she takes such good care of me
4) Pet says, 'I love my master, she takes such good care of me.'
5) Target anything else
6) /say My pet is great, it can talk and everything!
7) Master says, 'My pet is great, it can talk and everything!'
Basically, have your pet targetted for any /say to be said by it, don't have it targetted if you want your says to come from you. But I haven't played my necro in a long time so I may be off, but that's how I remember it, and it makes sense. :)
Been working for as long as I can remember, don't think it's been broken, just not many people have figured out.
Switch 1 and 2 in your list Loralana, and you'd be correct.
Yes, this item is great fun, I picked this up whilst doing a King Bathezid raid at the weekend, for those interested, it was dropped by Grand Lorekeeper Kino Shai.
The druid pet now has a purpose... To join me in ridiculing rangers everywhere.. Muahahaha
Oh, an additional bit of information, it looks like a whip when equiped..
Phear the dual wielding Druid. :)
*EDIT* As for Voice Graft being broke, I can see how you'd think it, if the Necro spell version works the same way as this, as the caster, I appear to be the only person NOT able to hear my pet talk, so it just looks as if the /say command has been ignored and not worked, where in effect it has.

Enchanters cannot charm PC's on PvP servers but they can charm PC's in duels. I personally like to charm them do a /pet who the leader a few times before I tell them to /pet guard here underwater somewhere or /pet attack them on the PoD. Good times. With Voice Graft it would just get that much more fun.
Well, in the last patch, PC's cannot charm other PCs in any fashion (it was buggy as hell in the 1st place). Also, if you DID, back in the day, intentionally cause an Exp-Loss death during a duel on a Non-PvP server (ie parking underwater, running into the PoD, nexus scion etc etc) you could be petitioned, and possibly suspended. Well, irrelevant now, but that was the way the GM's were supposed to handle it.

It lets a caster (necro and SK only if using the normal spell that can be cast) and bard in this case talk through their pets. I can see it now =)
Soandso begins to cast a spell. An Orc Pawn says,'My master is Soandso' Soandso begins to cast a spell. An Orc Pawn says,'HAHAHA! Soandso2 can't hurt me!' An Orc Pawn says,'Try and kill me!' An Orc Pawn says,'I shall get revenge on you, An Orc Legionare for all the times you spit on my head!'
hehehe lots of fun commin' up from this I think =)
