I've been tanking with this weapon for about 3 weeks... I havent had any problems with losing agro outside of PoV, but thats to be expected

Oh and I tanked that mechanical dragon in PoI forget its name but i kept agro very well with 2 dead tanks before me from 50% down to 0 using Ichorflow and CHoS

61 Ranger here and I've not noticed a lot of extra aggro on this weapon...of course I let our warrior whack on the mob for a bit before chiming in for the dps. I have better weapons, but this one looks so nice on me, the girls love it too.

HEHE, TRUE STORY

A friend of my RL friends started playing eq he made a war day 1. we got him to lvl 15, and had to sleep. Very next day my friend calls me and tells me your not gonna F***ing believe this ..

Tells me an uber guild, GOTK grabbed his a** and told him to come while they raided GE for drops, he got all the VT some minor loots, thne he gets jenney's twotone cuirass and Ichorflow, no bs at lvl 15, they left all the loot minus the orb + some staff for this new toon. I was shocked swore he was lying to me. I logged in and inspected, yep TRUE. Drinal Uanr Darkelf Warrior only played 1 day or so, now 43 owns the used to be best BP in game no lvl restrict, and Ichorflow, and thye let it rott :) amazing. I rem paying 1k for stormfeather talons and this guy gets Ichorflow and a ac60+ bp geeesh lol.

Got this last night, looks neat, however the proc doesn't generate nearly enough aggro for a main tank. Stick with the scepter of destruction. Took about 15-20 minutes to kill Grieg with a 22 person raid. Got pretty boring seeing as how I was blinded 95% of the time =p

Seems like a very decent iem. Weve killed grieg like 15 times and this dropped once.

decent item.

Looks like -- bout the same length as ssoy but very different look. bright silver color and the blade is dual edged kind of like an elongated oval shape with a sharp point.

well lots of guilds can get their warriors weapons with better tauning procs than this and so this is often a ranger/rogue weapon. the proc isnt all that bad & rangers pre-jolt to lower agro inadvance anyways.

recently awarded one of these to a ranger. He doesnt die more than others because our warriors can taunt and he knows how to play.
RE: hmm
# Apr 29 2003 at 4:54 PM Rating: Default
I'd have to agree. Although Warriors tanking Grieg likely won't have weapons with a ratio this good this is definitely a low aggro weapon. Much as I'd like to have it for when I'm not tanking, I'd rather let a DPS class use it. The DoT is very little aggro.

Sorry for my language but..YOU ARE SUCH A ******* DUMBASS!!

Most guilds that can kill Grieg have warriors with jady katanas, hategivers, BBotE and ssra uber taunt weapons so even if this Piece of ******* **** did PROC it wouldnt do **** to the aggro, hategiver gives over 600 points of aggro, can this thing beat it?

AND THIS ISNT REALLY THAT AMAZING..ssra weps kick the **** out of this, u see the new ones? Blasphemous Blade of the Exiled, Hategiver, The Blade of ssra...hell even some vex thal **** beats this

Grieg drops nice equip his weps he drops go to the players with the lower DKP. I do ADMIT though this is VERY good for a ranger considering if he does have primals this is SOMEWHAT of an upgrade, I would love to see this go to a ranger.

So even if this did proc 100 times any good warrior with nice equip would EASILY be able to hold aggro, id imagine if the proc actually IS succesfull it would draw 300 taunt points which is equivelant to about 5 taunts from a warrior at 60.

So shut the **** up about this not being a ranger wep, its a great ranger wep, considering warriors, paladins, sks etc. get all this uber ssra ******* ****, rangers need something too, and this is a damn good ranger wep so u n00bs who know no ******* thing about high end gaming stfu plz, cuz this is a NICE ranger wep.

Now if ur in a decent lvl 60 guild who CAN (but struggles) to take grieg, id imagine people would be jumping for this like flys because 14/20 is a damned nice ratio..

BUT!!!

it does not compare to ssra weps a tiny bit

Well I am tired and have only read your post and goin to bed hehe, so I don't know who/what you are replying to...but, more to the point, a guild killing grieg is not gonna have ssra basement weaps and vulak loot for all its warrriors, GV is a relatively EASY luclin encounter, I would place him over ragh 2, but definately far below glyphed/exiled. More likely a good number of a guilds warriors killing GV are gonna have sboz's off statue and a frostbringer ;p

SO for a guild capable of killing GV this could be a really nice warrior sword ;p

The only reason you don't see more guilds of the strength I just described killing GV is because they are still getting plenty of phat loot on velious and are trying to get into ntov(not owning it) so they rather not be side tracked by trying new luclin mobs that they know relatively little about.

Well you sure know how to talk trash. Your first three paragraphs were nothing but useless name calling, I could care less. Now let me clear up a few things, you said:

"I dont think anyone could give a better example of what a troll and a lamer really means. Your only usefull to the society around you as someone to point at, if anyone havent fully understod the meaning of theese 2 words."

Let's skip your poor grammer and get right to the point. :D

*NEWSFLASH* YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPAM EVERY POSTING SECTION WITH YOUR IGNORANT OPINIONS TO PROMOTE YOURSELF UP FROM TROLL STATUS. i.e. I read the posts on this site a lot and just because I don't post useless garbage like you, that doesn't make me a troll. You think since you have 49 posts here concerning crap that you can call people trolls. /laff

You also said:

"This weapon will most likely NOT go to a ranger because the proc is agro"

and...

" but you wont get this weapon if you are not 60 for at least 3 months."

Well there are two other points you tried to make on why Rangers should not get this weapon. Do you see now why I did not focus on the one comment you made about using it in raid situations?

Not to mention the fact that in a raiding situation where I don't want aggro, I CAN SIMPLY SWITCH WEAPONS TO A NON-PROCING ONE!(Hey did you know the same goes for any other situation where I don't want aggro! Way cool hunh?!)

Your comment about using it in a raid situation makes no point to me actually because I won't use ANY aggro causing techniques on a raid because I KNOW how to deal with aggro management. Another reason why I did not reply to it in my first post.

One other point is that on average I spend 30% of my time raiding. What about all the time I spend exping or camping items etc? The thought of giving up this awesome weapon because you think someone might use it on a raid and cause aggro is so ridiculous it makes me laugh. More than half of my time would be spent on other things than raiding, god forbid the little time it might spend in my inventory during a raid...

Look this is an "Informational" thread, and the only reason I replied to your post in the first place was because you were posting false loot rules about MY class. Well, not false but make-believe. :D

This is the last post I will make in this thread, seeing as its purpose is not for personal bickering but informational use. Any further name calling or complaining etc by Swanda I will ignore, so as not to upset the community of this board. However, I may look at her reply (if any) just for ***** and giggles. :D

Ta ta for now..

Mainly directed to Swanda, as she posted not one, but two posts on how rangers should never get this weapon. I believe she said "this weapon will rather go to ROTT than to a ranger"

Assuming you never played a Ranger, due to your obvious lack of knowledge about the class, what gives you the orgasity to decide what classes get this weapon? Does it really bother you to know that a Ranger is weilding one of these?

I've played my Ranger for 60 straight levels and I know how to deal with aggro management. You can't tell me what I can do. Go play a Ranger and then maybe your opinion will actually mean something. Until then keep your mouth shut, your breath stinks.

Planning a rebuttal? Oh hold on let me go get my violin...

I am a level 60 ranger on the Tunare Server and have assisted (*note* i said assist, i know my job) in killing most every high end mob in the game. Since there is virtually no difference between this proc and the ranger epic proc Earthcall (other than Earthcall drawing more aggro due to the slow in conjunction with the DoT) any arguement that this will draw too much aggro for a ranger to handle is baseless in both fact and application.
RE: oh
# Mar 14 2002 at 8:12 AM Rating: Default
tell us how much JOLT helps you to lose agro in highend encounters :)
RE: oh
# Apr 25 2002 at 11:37 AM Rating: Good
We killed greig last night and this weapon went to guess who????? That's right it went to a ranger. Also there are only two mobs left in the game that I haven't landed a succesful jolt on and that's Vulak, and Vyemm, and that's just because we haven't tried 'em yet. So anyone telling you that the jolt line of spells is useless in high end encounters has either never played a ranger or done so badly. Again I am going to point out your flawed reasoning in assuming this proc is too much aggro for a ranger too handle:

Earthcall
Description:
Decrease Attack Speed for between 20% (L1) to 50% (L60) in 25 ticks
DoT for 500 Hit Points (HP) in 25 ticks

Details:
Casting Time: Instant
Recast Time: 0 seconds
Skill: Instantaneous
Allowed Targets: All
Duration: 25 ticks (2.5 minutes)
Resist: Magic
Range to target: 200

Venomous Blast
Description:
Adding 4 Disease counters
DoT for 504 Hit Points (HP) in 21 ticks
Decrease Current Hitpoints by 60 (L1)

Details:
Casting Time: Instant
Recast Time: 0 seconds
Skill: Conjuration
Allowed Targets: All
Duration: 21 ticks (2.1 minutes)
Resist: Disease
Range to target: 200

Virtually no difference in the type of proc aggro that Ichorflow generates in comparison to Earthcaller. Anybody that thinks a 60dd proc will out aggro a 50% slow is uninformed/ignorant.

dont compare Warriors from a ToV/HoT guild to a FoH ranger please :p
a warrior in full warlord armor will have more AC than a Ranger with full Kaelquest armor. unless you twinked him out with NToV loot in every other slot of course :p

but ok. lets give this weapon to you. you will really love the proc when the AoW turns around for you and decides to squish you in 2 seconds because you taunted it off the main tank

You should know that when you can obtain this weapon, you can kill so much stuff to get everyone weaponary better than primal. however, HIGHEND agro procs should always go to the warrior..
Talk about Nathyn Illuminous robe, 100charisma. Will this go to a necromancer over an enchanter?

Guilds that do him have class restrictions on loot. Have you seen a willsapper going to a ranger when the maintank of the guild was using epics or Defiance ? I really doubt that, and if, Vaniki was the biggest thing this guild killed in the last 3 months

Swanda you are such a noob. People can kill Grieg without primals (he's not THAT hard of a mob). Yet no guild in their right mind will ever forego Sleeper's Tomb. You can replace primals with better weapons, but you can never replace the proc. People will always switch in a primal for the proc and switch back.

Also that fact that you even brought up the Nathyn Illuminous robe proves you are a noob. No level 60 chanter worth a damn gives a **** about charisma anymore.

Swanda, I hate you =P Excuse me, but I know a few dam*ed good bards and rangers that probably have their ac higher than some warriors I know. There is NO such thing as class restrictions! GEAR is the restriction, and trust me, that's about all. a rogue probably won't want it because its not piercing = no backstab. but for a bard, ranger, or warrior, this is awesome, and I know some rogues would love it also. I am really sick of people saying all the good weapons would go to warriors. So what, the warriors are completely outfitted with awesome weapons and gear, and the other melee all have banded and rusty weapons? I THINK NOT.

This weapon will most likely NOT go to a ranger because the proc is agro

Jolt is NOT the final solution for overagroing
At 54, it works great in Sebilis
but you wont get this weapon if you are not 60 for at least 3 months.
At Raid level, the stuff will simply RESIST jolt, and it will RESIST the blast. Difference is,
the Resist of Jolt will not reduce agro
the Resist of the weapon proc WILL INCREASE Agro
I talked to a 60 ranger and she told me, she cannot control her agro on Lendianria the keeper, as she gets all her Jolt spells resisted

The ratio is too bad for a bard (The VaDyn drops a 14 18 bard only and is WAY easier than this grieg guy)
the proc makes it bad for a ranger
very same for a rogue... if ONE rogue on a raid screws the agro up, ALL OTHER rogues can not backstab anymore. its ALL about positioning and agro control in highend encounters.. this weapon would rather go ROTT than to a Ranger that would use it in ANY raid situation
This weapon will go to a warrior

I'm not sure what you're all trying to prove lol. This weapon has gone to many rangers in it's time, and has also gone to many warriors. So in a sense you are all right and wrong at the same time. Really just depends on who it is the biggest upgrade for in my opinion. If the warriors at the raid have better weapons already then give it to the ranger if he wants it, and vice versa.

Bah, get a SK or Pally tank and then use any spell/proc you want. Greg isn't going to one round a 60 shadowknight or paladin. I really hope Sony fixes warriors soon. Until now there was one tank class, and now there's two viable tanks, the hybrid ones. Warrior aggro generation has been broke for awhile many say, my warrior friend who used to have no problem keeping it in the lower levels doesn't have so much of an easy time. I have to really watch myself, not use spears, dots, just melee. It hurts my DPS alot too. Need a fix.

well.. a 60 ranger that cant control agro sucks. i am currently lvl 57, and can control agro very well.. whether it be for agro kiting, keeping agro off me in a group/raid, tanking, whatever. you need to know what spells to use, what weapons to use for the situation (IE, dont use an Earthcaller on a raid if u have it, you will get too much agro) but instead go for some decent 2hs weps, or get a 1hs that doesnt proc an agro spell, or use archery for the fight (not quite as effective without am3/eq, but using Trueshot disc can rival melee dmg with less agro).

I am a ranger and i am so sick and tired of hearing all this BS about we shouldnt have any procing weapons. You guys all act as though every single encounter thats out there is nothign but lvl 60+ mobs that resist jolt/jolting blades everytime. I dont knwo about everyone else here but everytime i play i am not takign out dragon and other high end mobs, for everyday use this weapon rules. And most likely if your able to take greig himself out you prolly have a few diffrent weapons in your inventory anyhow you use for diffrent circumstances, i know i do. ide gladly sheath earthcaller for this weapon when XP grinding, and you can bet when im raidign fighting mobs that hit for 600dmg im gonna put it right back in my inventory and grab a non procing weapon. Anyhow if this weapon dropped you can bet ide spend my points on it. And to those that dont think i should have it cause i am a ranger, FU.

In case you haven't noticed there are a lot of weapons out there BETTER than epics. Most warriors replace theirs, bards wield theirs in offhand simply for the proc, etc etc. Second, rangers and monks have one of the easiest epics around. You don't need an "uber" guild to get their epics. Finally, I can't understand how you can have three chars 54+ and still be wearing some of the crap you are talking about. A 58 cleric with a CGS? Unless I'm tanking in Velk's or something this would only get me killed I fear ;) She's a long DoT on a fairly fast weapon with upfront damage. Nice for the Warrior but only really useful for suicidal Rangers, Bards and Rogues. Why does VI insist on giving off-tanks such aggroing weapons? Well, I guess they don't, as only the Warriors would spend points/roll on an item of this nature. Ah well, it might have situational uses for non-Warriors I suppose.

Venomous Blast:

Pssssssst, um, i dunno what i'm thinkin, but it seems kinda...odd...that a *47* ranger such as yourself is speaking so wisely about jolt, which you don't even have yet. Yeah, my twinkie is only 32, but ya know what, i'm not actin like i know everything about high lvl aggro reduction for rangers. I do know however, that in small groups, jolt is not a 100% guaranteed life saver. And if it was, why would there still be soooooooooo many ranger corpses?

Uh oh, the ranger died again?
RE: Thanks for including Rogues ><
# May 01 2003 at 4:07 PM Rating: Decent
no, jolt isnt a 100% life saver. knowing how to play your class is, usually, unless the group/raid wipes. as for ranger corpses, there are lots of rangers running around out there in the 50s+ who dont know how to play their class, hence death.

Well, I'm a 54 Ranger that *does* know about Jolt. The only times I get aggro are 1) When I'm tanking, 2) when I'm testing tactics (like nuke/dot during fights) and 3) when the MT is dead or asks me to take aggro. If Jolt is what means the difference between life and death for a Ranger, then he or she is in trouble as it is.

Don't quite have Jolt yet, but thought that when it says "lower hate by xxx", that means it makes the mob hate you more??
RE: Thanks for including Rogues ><
# Feb 12 2002 at 12:39 PM Rating: Default
Yes, when the spell descriptions say lowers hate by xxx, that means that the mob hates you more, but ONLY if that xxx is a POSITIVE number. lowers by 500 would mean that 500 aggro just got added, while -500 would mean that 500 aggro was taken away. Jolt/Cinder Jolt/Jolting Blades have a negative number, because they make the mob hate you less.

I thought that aggro was coming more from delay then from ratio of the weapon and this one is 20 delay. At this level the class listed can allready have lower delay weapons.

Don't rogue have evade to lower aggro ? Bards can use a song to lower aggro if they are epicied or wield symphonic saber if not (proc symphonic harmony). I dont know about rangers.

Tell me if I'm wrong, I would like to understand.

Actually he wasn't worried about the ratio, it was the DoT he was worried about. Procs cause the biggest aggro. I know because I used to have a Venom axe and was not taunting and was still holding aggro from a warrior 5 lvls higher than me.

BTW that was on my unlisted ranger.
