Just killed this guy. Kept the pelt to look up since it was nodrop. Thought I was just wasting some random junk mob. Anyway, if anyone needs this drop on Povar, send a tell.

This part is pretty easy...All you have to do is have like any class thats level 65 who can melee or have good pets to do this...When you summon the dire make sure you clear alot of mobs around it because if you dont you will get horrible adds and die..Otherwise its easy =)

61 necro solo advisor and single pull Black Dire to zoneline with prenerf CoS.
52 shaman pet tank with slow and wait for necro pet finish it .
Then change lvl5 shaman loot the pelt.

Killing the mobs gives the shaman enough True Sprit faction to complete this quest. I would not recomend doing it this way.

Just killed it last night, first try!

My group was:
47 Shaman
48 Enchanter
52 Bard
48 Ranger
44 Monk

We fought our way to the Grand Hall, then the Bard pulled to there until he pulled the Advisor. He charmed the Advisor, and we fought our way back out and into the pit. He single-pulled the blood wolves until we had them done, and then we medded up to FM/FH. A 54 Cavalier (Purge)and a 53 Wanderer (Praire) from The Arisen kindly assisted us in killing the Black Dire. Only the 48 Ranger got below half health the whole fight. Thanks, all!

Next stop: Emerald Jungle for SOW Booties!

Hi,

We killed him last night with the following

49 mage
50 mage
54 druid

Druid snared and doted and then kited bd. When bd was at 75% sent in two 49 earth pets. Druid kept doting. Full resists on malise and shock of swords, so didn't bother nuking at all. Just healing pet. One earth pet died at the same time the bd died :-)

Earth pets were buffed with burnout and summoned plate. As well as whatever druid buffs were available.

No need to put anyone in danger getting this piece for the Shaman Epic. I soloed this mob and the other wolves still considered me kindly. Following is the step by step procedure for doing so. BTW, I do not suggest you solo it as it took me at least 30 minutes by myself and could be done in 5 with the right trio.

1. Bind, Levitate and Invis at zone in point to Mistmoore.(You are binding if you are bringing help, see note at bottom)

2. Run to Castle entrance.

3. Look directly to the left of entrance to castle at the top of building above wolves.

4. Run to top of building and stand on top(that is why you used levitate.)

5. Now you are ready to kill the bugger.

You need no tanks as you will never come into contact with this wolf. He will land some minor sk lifetaps on you and of course his nasty Harm touch(around 500 to 550 HP)

6. He is very very very PR, DR, MR.

7. If possible, bring a chanter and one or 2 nukers, no pets.

8. If you have a chanter, get him/her to cast whatever version of Tash they have. Then cast Malosi over and over until you get it to stick, took me 2 to 3 casts each time with no tash. Even Malosied, not one of my poison or disease spells ever managed to land. I just kept using Blizzard Blast over and over.

9. He has estimated hit points of 12K. Adds up to 28 Blizzard Blasts(430 dmg or so) Obviously, I needed to keep medding over and over while he sat there trying to cast an occasional Lifetap.

10. You are in no danger above the pit, test on a gargoyle if you like. But whatever you do, don't fall down after you attack)

11. Just nuke away with whichever casters you decided to bring with you. He will die in short order with 3 of them. I have no idea on FR as I have no fire based spells. Was tough to stick Malosi which with the duration of the fight, I had to land twice.

Without Malosi, my Blizzard Blasts were landing for much less than total damage, several under 100HP, I tried many options since I was safe and wanted to see what it took to kill it.

I was level 50 at the time in Late December. He conned blue, I was told he is level 45.

After I had killed him, the other wolves still considered me kindly, that may have something to do with true spirit faction, not sure. If you bring others with you, it may not be safe to jump down and loot. In this case, gate out and come back in to loot.

Killed Black Dire with 53 Druid, 52 Ranger, 50 Paladin, 48 Wizard, and 45 Shaman (me). Druid harmonied all 4 blood wolvers around it but, alas, this does not keep them from aggroing when you finish the dialogue and aggro him. Took me out in about 3 seconds. Luckily I had bound myself at his spawn point so I zoned in again and looted as he went down. Tough fight for us. Pally and Druid went down when Wiz's Evac fizzled the first time.

We took him down last nite with a group consisting of:
50 Warrior
41 Warrior
57 Druid
55 Wizard
60 Cleric
33 Shaman

After we cleared the little ramp area up to his spawn point, Cleric solo pulled him down, Druid DoT'd, Wizzie Nuked, Warrior's sliced and Diced. No-one got below 2/3's hp's, fight lasted at most 90 seconds. Keep Rune up for his HT, keep your Warrior/Tank's hasted, and zap him!

Forget about the dialogue with him, he always drops the pelt. We invis'd up, and ran to our pull spot, took maybe another 2 minutes to clear it (all con'd Dark Blue to me at 33), then sliced-and-diced Black Dire.

Fortunately, their happened to be another guild after Mayong that killed the advisor, triggering the spawn a few minutes after I arrived to scout it out, took about 20 minutes to transport everyone, and down he went. From what I've read, he's on a 4 hour timer, and de-pops after 35 minutes or so. You can also force him to spawn by killin' the advisor, however that may take more than just a single group.

All you need is a 53 puller, and no need to do the dialoge which will agro the others.

Just have your 53 druid pull with snare down out of agro range ofthe others and have a field day with the puppys hide.

This is part of the shaman epic. Kill the Dire Wolf, get the Pelt, give the pelt to the Spirit Sentinel in Emerald Jungle. And voila! You now have Black Fur Boots. Shaman only, instant cast SoW. Plus some other stats.
