I think Int effects your resistances or protection agaisnt spells or something, but I may be wrong.
RE: HUH???
# Oct 24 2004 at 8:32 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, you are wrong.

All of the mid-level Kunark era armor (crafted, totemic ravenscale etc) has stats on it that are useless. The shaman set only has 1 item (the helm) that has wisdom on it for instance.

Resistances have their own set of stats.

Crafted, Totemic, and the like are pre-Kunark. These in addition to PoHate and PoFear armors all included useless stats. I believe this is so because the game was still new and the developers didn't realize how useless off-class stats could be.

I have a wood elf warrior at lvl 10 and would like to know if you think I should keep my crafted bracers, or switch one out for a Serpentine Bracer. The Serpentine is AC 1, +3 Dex +9 Agi I can't decide if the hit to the AC is worth it since maybe the Agi will make up for it. I have almost a complete set of crafted, and being wood elf, I'm pretty good on dex and agi naturally. However the BP I'm wearing takes a big hit to agility.. so maybe the Serpentine can help balance me out. What do ya'll think?
RE: help me choose

Agi will more than make up for it, let me explain a few things:

First of all, the bonus to your agi will increase your ac by about 5 or 6, making your AC fairly close to your with this. Now, besides that, you also have to factor in a few things:

I have an Ogre SK. I raised dex to 85, and kept agi at 70. I spent all my money on four things: Onyx Earring and Recondite Insignia Ring. These alltogether (plus something else... I forget what it was) have raised my agi to 79. Before I bought these things, my defense skill was at about 10 at level 7 or so, making my AC suck ***. Now, with NINE MORE AGI (what you were thinking of adding, lol), I have nearly maxxed it.

Now, there's STILL more, even if you def skill is maxxed. Agi also determines skill ups for Dodge, a REALLY nice skill to have. I should know. I am, after all, often the MT when I go hunting.

Of course, agi itself determines if you dodge, with or without the skill.

So, for the sacrifice of... what? 2 AC? You're gaining the ability to dodge more often, gain more skill in dodging, and dodging more often there as well, and more AC through def skill ups.

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that it's worth the hit to AC.

Slap on a cool roleplay personality and you have the recipe for fun.

As for me, I now, will go with the crafted.

Lol Vamok, that's exactly what I did with my DE warrior. Try doing a /who all gnome warrior on your server and you'll see about 3-6 of them. Same with dark elves, trolls (no one wants to play trolls), and any race that isn't the best possible warrior race. It's fun to be different and die a lot. =P

Have fun, and keep that Wood Elf Warrior. You will thank me later.

Heh. I went onto Kane Bayle, where I have an iks warrior (they're actually pretty nice. AC MORE than makes up for the inability to wear plate armor, as it goes up EVERY LEVEL, and regen is awesome, plus the agi). So I do a / iksar warrior all

[9 warrior] Mesostrong Zone: Field of Bone
[65 (whatever)] (whatsisface) Zone: (whereitis)

A-yep. That's th skinny on Iksar warriors. I just think they need to finish their pike quest, or I just might have to quit him alltogether.

Also, Mesostrong is an ALT to my Ogre warrior.

If you are below 75 agi, then choose the serp bracer. Below 75 agi all classes receive a severe AC penalty. If not then choose this, much better and will last a lot longer.

Personally I'd keep the Crafted, doesn't seem like it does too much for ya now, but at later levels, the AC added because of this will show... usually warriors should go for AC... take this as advice from a lvl 52 warrior.

If you're (as of your post, June of 2003) still wearing crafted at 52, you're in need of a serious visit to the bazaar. If you have a k or two, blow it on a better wrist-slot.

Even better, go to SD with a small group (really small, this stuff is EASY, you and a DRU or SHM is plenty) and hunt Hoppers (for hides==plat) and anything that walks on more or less than two legs just to clear the area you're in (there are good areas and bad, higher-level and lower, which you'll figure out over time). You'll start to get named spawns every now and then (kill fast, and make your healer save mana so you don't have to med)... kill any named spawn that you find.

The named have placeholder drops (common) that are for Luclin quest armor... essentially junk, but keep it to sell in bazaar -- or buy the other needed items in bazaar and turn in for quest armor and sell THAT.

HOWEVER, all of the nameds in SD also have a rare drop specific to their species. The lightcrawlers can drop some very nice wrist-slots that blow crafted WAY out of the water. Not raid-caliber loot, but certainly worth the time spent. Also, one of the mobs -- I don't recall which -- drops an awesome WAR helm that's got +8 to a couple key stats and minuses to INT and WIS (so WAR is pretty much the only one that will want it, of the classes that can use it).

It's a long, boring camp. Don't expect to get good drops on any particular day, but if you hang out here in the low-50s, and don't succumb to the tempation of doing the sun-dudes on the mesa (bad risk/reward unless you're able to just walk through them for the semi-ok rare spawns rare loot), then you'll get decent exp with the new group bonuses and really nice loot in the long run. The hopper hides make it worth the wait, since you get a superb or flawless hide about every 4th-6th kill, and they spawn fast.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 29 2001 at 3:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why didi they make this WARRIOR ONLY bracer give +2 to Int whats the point?
RE: Why +2 to int?!
# Jun 14 2001 at 6:49 PM Rating: Decent
Because INT helps you learn skills, that's why. DEX doesn't help learn tradeskills, either. It helps you with crit/crip attacks and weapon proc though.

Actually, it has been confirmed by Verrant's tradeskill guy that Dex is a secondary modifier for Tailoring much the same way strength is the secondary for Smithing.

Yep, dexterity helps improve tailoring. Fletching too.

Edit: To clarify, dexterity helps improve the chance of success on a tailoring or fletching comibine; it does not improve chance of skilling up (only your wis or int, whichever is higher, does that). Same holds true for strength's effect on smithing.

RE: Why +2 to int?!
# Oct 24 2004 at 8:38 AM Rating: Decent
That's incorrect. The highest stat (wis int or dex in the case of tailoring or fletching/wis int or str in the case of smithing) is all that matters. There has been extensive research done on this and it's been proven by giving ogres enough alcohol to reduce their wis/int to 1 and they still get skill ups based on whatever their strength score is.

Bracer not worth cost
# May 25 2001 at 9:08 AM Rating: Default
A jeweler can make a better bracer with a fire emerald (+3 str, +5 dex with electrum or +5 str, +3 dex with gold) for less than the cost of the sapphire.

RE: Bracer not worth cost
# May 28 2001 at 5:13 PM Rating: Good
Ummm...Those pieces of jewelery are missing one thing that these bracers have. Actually, they are missing the most important stat for any warrior...

Armor class.

I would take +10 AC and no stats over any bracelet a jeweler can make. The +dex and +int are just bonuses.

And you get that smoky blue color..
RE: Bracer not worth cost
# Jun 01 2001 at 7:48 AM Rating: Decent
Ya, jewlers cant make anything that has as much ac as that, and even if they could, it wouldnt look like you were the knight in shining, discolored blue armor.

RE: djkfafdafdsafdsafdsafdsafdsafdsaf
# Aug 21 2001 at 11:47 PM Rating: Default
That's only true about WEAPON skills, but not other skills like begging, sense heading, trade skills, and so on. I even think that INT is what helps you learn defense, dodge, etc...
INT
# Jan 05 2002 at 6:30 AM Rating: Decent
Actually, INT does help to learn weapon skills. I speak from experience, as I have an Ogre warrior ATM and his base INT of 60 is making it much more difficult to max his weapon skills than it was with my DE Warrior. The DE had an INT of 99 and a Dex of 75, the ogre has INT 60 and DEX 85. With the ogre it is difficult to max 3 weapon skills (1hs, 1hb & piercing ) and many times not maxing all three, where the DE had no trouble maxing 1hs 2hs 1hb &2hb quite quickly every level.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 17 2001 at 3:44 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why do they put intellegence on it if it is for warriors only................?
RE: Intellegence?
# May 19 2001 at 11:21 PM Rating: Default
Better than not having the intelligence. Intelligence really does help out, I am a gnome warrior with a natural 98 INT, and I can duel Trolls and Ogres effectively because my skills are all capped, while they have to spend an extra hour or few to get theirs' capped; so, they miss far more often than I do, and it shows. My high int certainly makes up for my low stamina (bet you wish you got Taunt capped before you gain a blue bub of exp).
RE: Intellegence?
# Jul 07 2001 at 8:01 PM Rating: Decent
I agree! in my eyes a Gnome warrior has a great advantage over many "Bigger" raced warriors. But I still have reason to believe that the Barbarian warrior is still the greates warrior! The second being the gnome of course

At level 26, it's easier (well, cheaper) to just go to the Gorge and camp the eyes yourself. The garden variety Evil eyes are only around level 18-20ish and the Lords are in the mid twenties (conned green to a level 30, but still got a touch of XP now and then). The nerves are a fairly common drop and the sapphire is, of course, merchant bought. Quest them yourself and it'd be cheaper and you'll get XP for your troubles. There's not much reason to pay money for these unless you're just not willing to go through the trouble or are under level 18.

RE: Why would you buy this?

Whatever guy did this first post, your WRONG, you have to be at LEAST 35th lvl to get bracer of scavenging, for this, a friend did it at lvl 25.

You can pay someone, like 10pp to get the strange stuff for you, or, if your in the zone, just look around for the things corpse, and then when you need the gem you can buy from merchants, just buy it, but of course, if you wanted the bracer of scavenging, just buying it wouldnt be so easy, they dont grow on merchants all day long.

It took him (My friend) only about 3hours to complete this quest.

Now, with the bracer of scavenging, you cant just pay someone 10pp to go kill that bandit. Everyones pharming it Im sure. So your gonna have to do it the hard way, while someone is getting 2 crafted bracers in about 5hours, and costing them, about, 120pp-I can buy that gem they need for 100pp from people who are indiferently to me.

Not telling you my name!!!!

You have to be about 35 to get the bracer of scavenging SOLO... but if you actually payed attention to the post, he mentioned bringing a GROUP a long... if you have a full group of mid 20's, the bracer of scavenging is pretty easy to get. The Iksar Bandit Lord is in fact only about level 30, and only marginally tougher than the pariahs and exiles in his camp. Bandit Lord's pretty easy if you can get him by himself.

By the way, nobody can really farm the bracer of scavenging... because it's LORE.

Why don't you read the post COMPLETELY before flaming him?!
