This has a -50% lowered chance to proc under the default proc rate of weapons (according to unknown070 value).

I am not sure but I think this weapon has gone threw some changes. 39dmg 32dly is correct it's prox is kinda slow but seems more randomized also just a shot in the dark any SK's out there every auged it with a life steal aug and have used it with the new GoD AA weapon affinity (maxed out) to see if it proxs better ?? I am going to try it see if I can make it prox like a goldnenrod with Weapon affinity.

Also the effect works with the SK crtical life steal AA for a max life steal of 300 =)

i'm looking for honest opinions plz...

would you use this weapon (cudgel of CD) or Tunare's sword (aka petrified heartwood flamberge). i know the damage on tunare's almost makes it an obvious choice... but this cudgel is so damn fast, with a more benefitial proc as well.

PHF is killed by it's proc, root agro will kill pets fast, waste healing on rogues, and will rule how you position the fight.

Goldenrod.
Seru Sword
Emp Sword
(in order)

I'd put this and Rocksmasher on par, though each for different reasons

# Mar 08 2003 at 10:02 AM Rating: Default
I use a rocksmasher over this. I like the hp and stamina give me over 200 hp, and with 41% haste, you can free up another slot to get higher ac / hp item

Honestly, I'd take a Bloodied Berserker's Sword before either. Much better stats and a kick *** proc. But just between those two I'd take the Cudgel...the snare can be replaced by a spell but a lifetap proc is always a nice bonus that won't take away from slashing time as well...all depends on the rest of your equipment too though.

Granite Face Grinder and Deathbringer's Rod are two fairly commonly used SK 2hbs. There's a ton more, too. 2hb isn't uncommon for SKs. I'd be surprised if most SKs don't have 2hb up to a usable level, unless they're twinks or PLd.

Big deal. If your skill is at 0, it's still worth getting this weapon. It just means you have to practice it. Everyone saying "practice everything", dude, I don't go for that. Piercing and 1hb are at 200, because I used those for a while, and it wasn't that much trouble to hold on to my smoldering brand until 40. 2hb is at like 50, that's where my extra training points go. If I get a killer 2hb, then I head out to Dreadlands, get a group, and beat on blues and light blues until my skill goes up. Or maybe hang out near a faction group in GD with my orc shovel. I'm not going to bother doing it now, though, because it might be a waste -- maybe I never get a good 2hb.

I kept ALL, yes ALL my weapon skills maxed through level 50. It really wasn't that hard as a Troll SK with 101 INT and being hasted most of the time as I always grouped. You just have to watch your numbers and as soon as you max one skill, switch to another weapon type.

I prefer the fastest weapons to increase skills (and to keep taunt); 1HB: Mace of Shadowed Souls (my main weapon of choice), 2HB: Glowing Wooden Crook (12/36), 1HP: Velium Dagger 1HP(3/19), 2HS: Runic Carver, and tons of fast 1HS are out there.

My pet peeve is the lazy peeps that join my group and ask to "practice" a skill that is 50 when it should be 175 for example. That person is a hardship on the group and there's no need for it.

I found it quite hard to keep all my weap skills maxed. But when I try to practice a weap skill thats really really bad I do not use it in a exp group, I just stay around and help them kill a mob =)

If you don't keep your skills up, gifts from heaven like this that could wind up falling in your lap could be given to someone else, and rightly so.

It's not really hard to max your skills, either.

Heh, Vedar's right. I can't speak from SKs, but I can from my own class, Rangers. In the old world, Rangers were all about 1HS. But after Kunark and Velious you see weapons like the Lupine Dagger, Swarmcaller and Club of the Ice Ocean (just to mention some of the easier to get weapons). So what did Rangers do when they found all these new weapons they wanted to use? They went out and grabbed fine steel daggers, Blackjacks, etc, and practiced their butts off. Now, a Ranger has to train up 1HS, 1HB, 2HS, piercing, and maybe even 2HB. It's all about what's out there. I can think of no SK that would turn down this weapon because he never bothered to train it.

First off why is a 29 Cleric posting about SK weapons? And why make yourself look so ignorant? Sure back in the old world 2H slash was all any SK needed, but after Kunark we had MoSS 1HB, Deathbringer Rod 2HB, Noct Blade 1HS and with Velious they made peircing a viable option (War Lances). Any smart SK keeps ALL his weapon skills up.

Ditto -- all skills matter. And piercing has been a viable high-end option since Kunark...don't forget Shard of Night. And the Centi Spear is an attainable way to ramp up that skill (the 20/30 one).

Smart melees keep all skills maxed in case they come across something like this. So good its hard to not want it.
epic is easier
# Feb 07 2002 at 5:52 PM Rating: Decent
To give you an idea, this was about a 25 minute fight. Think about it, I'm a necro and I got the kill shot? Whats up with that! I had to have done at least 20k dmg in lifetaps to this guy. Plus, for 45 people, the only loot was about 7 spells and 2 of these.

#1 Most people aren't in uber guilds.
#2 Even people in uber guilds dont get all the loot they want.

So spend your time doing your epic and wait for the epic part duex and get that too. Its most likely easier.

Epic Whiners
# Feb 07 2002 at 5:46 PM Rating: Good
Yes, I admit, many of these Luclin items have better stats than Epic.... now consider a few things:

1. Its a new expansion- The items are better to encourage exploration of the new world, and more importantly, killing the new tougher mobs. Admittedly, it does make the earlier mobs easier- but this opens up killing difficult things like the Avatar of War, and maybe, after a long, long time, even the Sleeper. But keep in mind that the average player, even the average high-end player. The high end mobs will still be difficult because all the players with these things will be killing more difficult Luclin mobs for more cooler stuff.

2. Epics are Hard. Very Hard. They take many many hours to do. I understand this; I am trying to do warrior Epic. But do not think that Items such as this will be easy. These will be just as difficult as Epic. I do not know alot about these mobs, but here are my thoughts- first, they likely have a very high spawn time. In addition to that, drops like this will NOT be too common. Also, at a minimum you will have to be 55+ to get on one of these raids. Once on a raid, getting one of these will easily be worse than any rare epic drop.

To summarize: These items are NOT an easy way out of Epic. You will likely need epic just to get there. So don't whine and say "I'm not gonna do my Epic, I'll just grab one of these."

Thank you! You saved me from posting the same thing. hehe.

Epics are the key to getting things in ToV, which would probably help a GREAT deal in getting these kinds of toys. And I agree with your assumption that these new weapons will help to finally kill the sleeper. Why else would they start to release SK/Pally 2hs with GODLY ratios!?!? 0.8 ratios with 200hp+ DD procs, damn....

look at Petrified Rod of fire guy in UP then look at SK epic. Very similar stats, even in dmg dly - Rod (39/44) and Innoruuk's Curse (40/45). One can be taken down with one well balanced 55-60 group and one takes months of questing. Epics aren't the key to getting things in ToV anymore for some classes.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 07 2002 at 5:31 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yea i cant get on eq right now so im so mad i made this post
I would take this over the Sk Epic
# Feb 07 2002 at 2:12 PM Rating: Default
This would make a better weapon the the Sk epic since the Dly is only 32. This would make me hit so damn fast that with Shmn/Chnt Haste & fBSS i could kill stuff 10 times faster then with Str of Gorgan.

close to epic?
# Feb 07 2002 at 10:33 AM Rating: Decent
All this stuff that needs to be lvl 51+ to wield and is close as too the real "epic" or better than makes me think that EQ, is running out of thinking power . Some weapons are pretty damn close to both pall and Sk's epic. .. think about it.
RE: close to epic?
# Feb 07 2002 at 1:20 PM Rating: Good
Epic weapons were the best kunark era. We are 2 expansions past that. Velious/luclin mobs are alot meaner, tougher, and have alot more hitpoints. Facing them with high end kunark weapons, epics, would seem silly. Mobs got upgraded, so did weapons.

Q: "The epic weapons for people are no longer really up to par? Will these ever be updated?"

A: "The epics have been outclassed now. We had to put in better weapons to keep the higher end game compelling. For the epic weapons we do have plans for being able to use them in upgraded epic quests, but they are just discussions at the moment."

I think it's a great idea and hope they are able to see that it gets done.
WHAT EPIC?
# Feb 07 2002 at 4:15 AM Rating: Decent
Suddenly I dont want to do my epic. It almost disturbs me how nice this is compared to the SK epic. sure the epic has different and slighty better saves, but this weapon will do more damage. sure the epics procs does twice the damage, but so what? VI needs to rethink some of these epics methinks :)

How jaded must a player be to call this a cheap knock-off of anything. This is a great weapon in it's own right. It has a really great ratio and stats that any SK can use. The only thing more I could hope for is AC and Str, but ya can't usually have everything you need in one item. For this to be called weak just blows my mind. While there are certainly SOME better things out there, any SK should be elated to get this...I know I would.
