I have a 65 Pally that uses this when going solo.
Due to aa's and buffs I am able to crit as high as 600+ with ave hits in 260-320 range. With new GoD wep aff. it will proc for me as much as 3-5 times per mob at 180 per proc. Thats alot of mana and dps and time im not wasting healing myself, its a great 2hb.
No pally has 2hb skill?
# Jan 25 2004 at 7:38 PM Rating: Decent
All 5 of my skills are maxed, and have been from about lvl 35, its hard to keep them up at first, but once xp is a bit slower its very easy to keep all maxed, if you solo then its tough because unless twinked with decent weapons then you cant afford to practice skill with a poor weapon. But in groups its easy to practice all your skills.

You guys do know you can just go to a trainer and train 2hb right? I trained mine to 157 with about 1k of plat.

# Jul 21 2003 at 9:10 PM Rating: Decent
Well a lot of people dont want to waste thier time with it until they are going to use it. Pallys and sks train thier 2hs generally. My Girflriend got a Golden Rod with her SK and trained her 2hb up at trainer then went and fought - at level 61 fighting trash blue mobs she got her skill maxed in a a day or 2. Much easier than training it throught your leveling. When you are 61 your skills that should be maxed go up fast. Better than switching out for a crapy weapon just to train your skill all through out your career.

This is the current weapon I use today. This prize has been a revolutionary step in paladin soloing capabilities. It hits hard, its not to slow and it heals you while you fight. What more could you ask for? I found it most useful for fear kiting undead, I have absolutely 0 down time and I pull in 4 aa per day. Put aa in your healing abilities and you have litteraly tweaked your weapon. Since it has no str on it your attack remains a bit on the low side and so does your slays but nothing too serious. Also this pig sticker rotts a lot so make friends with a large guild if your not in one and maybe they will invite you along.

I just got my Mournfollow last weekend... and WOW i love this thing! I'm a 61st level Pally on the FV server and our guild takes this guy down on a regular basis. (we is Uber! *grin ) Anyways... like most Pallies, I didnt exactly have my 2hb skill maxed (it was 60 at the time) now 2 days later its up to 190. Having a Primal Velium Axe on hand that procs Avatar helped I think.. since that raises all your fighting stats... and also Eyepatch of plunder... to hasten my attacks. My favorite tactic now is to arm my Primal til it procs and then do a quick switch to my Mournfollow. At 190 skill (still not my max by any means) I am hitting fast and HARD at up to 298 dmg per strike!

Pally Powwa!!!

"Hmmm.....don't know about you but i don't know any pallies that use 2h blunt at that lvl...so i can't see it getting nerfed. Its no drop so you can't twink with it....and not many pallies are gonna start up their 2h blunt at lvl 55+. Especially if there skill in it is like 2.....so it'll take some work to be AWESOME w/ it "

It doesnt take that long to lvl up a skill from 0 to 200.. I lvled 1hb from 0 to 200+ in like 1 day.. 2hb will be slower because of delay on the weapon.. But, still.. It anything it's easier to lvl up skills at that lvl.. /em shrug..

Im level 65 and my 2HB is (1). :)

Still, Ive been THINKING about raising it :P

Its not hard to level it up, everytime you clear for a raid just get it out. Your dps is irrelevent at this stage anyhow.
RE: ??
# Nov 28 2002 at 6:13 PM Rating: Default
You went from 0 - 200 in 1hb in one day? I find that highly unlikely, even if you were dual wielding under VoG haste and a Bard in the group with max DEX and INT. gaining a 200+ skill in anything takes time, my friend. Keep your exaggerations to a minimum please!

I would hardly call that impossible, if you have someone there that can get your dex to 255, and you have a fast weapon, you can go from 0-200 in a few hours easily. With my ranger I got 2hs from 0-180 in a 4 hour pickup group in velks, so if I had worked it the whole day, I feel sure I could have gotten it to 200+. hint hint, Boon of the Garou is +100 dex, plenty to get my ranger to 255, and using a 16/24 2hs (silver swiftblade) the skill was raising 4-6 times per kill. Throw an enchanter for haste and boon into the group, and skills fly up, the weapon delay just speeds up the process.
RE: ??
# Feb 05 2003 at 5:24 PM Rating: Decent
Weapon skills are affected by dex, and what I mean by saying this is....Consider this situation...You skill is really low with a weapon so you use it when your damage isnt that important, your grouped with a shammy who gives you HoS and an enchanter who keeps Boon on you. Your dex is now 255(this is realistic because thats exactly what I did to skill up. I was using the Stuck Bering Persuader 39/39 with a 75dmg proc. I was lvl 57 so we went to the easiest dark blues, that also were plentiful. i.e. we decided on the toilers in ME. So now everytime I swing my skill has a chance of rising, I swang alot =). 2hb went from 60 to 195 in 3 or 4 hours. I did notice that after reaching 150 the skill ups were not as common as before.

Anyhow, like the Mourny, want the Mourny, but as long as the mob dies at the end of the battle...I can't honestly say I need the Mourny.

If your 2-hand blunt skill is 2 at level 55+ then shame on you!

You should be practicing all your weapon skills on the way up. There are great 2-hand blunt, piercing, slashing, 1-hand slash, 1-hand blunt etc weapons out there for Paladins. This is only one of them. Rocksmasher is another. Facesmasher another. Golden Rod another.

Moral of the story: Don't wait. Practice 2-hand blunt now!

Saw this for the first time on a Pal last night in Velks un in UD.
Looked impressive and by the motions he was using anf the tripple blades up the front I thought it was a piercing weapon. Bowled over to se its 2hb.
and as was mentioned in a previous post, it truely was a Taunt 2000 wep. :)
I was chain nuking with my wiz and the mob never turned my way once. This guy was pulling 4 sentinals at a time from the back after clearing the room without a second thought with a only a bard for crown controll. I was impressed.

I was lvling in KC and I was in need of a group because soloing as a Paladin (our solo days are over :-( )and I came across a Paladin with a partial group and asked could I join... later little did I know he had Mournfollow and was a lvl 60 with max skill in 2hb. We started fighting and he was tearing up mobs with dmg ranging from 200-300 with out critting with AAXP skillz... Crits ranged from 500-1000 this weapon is the Tuant Master 2000.

All I have to Say is PHENOMINAL I think its better than our epic personally.

Same ratio as Blade of Angels, 50/42 and some very similar stats, but has a 200 dd instead of healing. drops off same mob too, and is pal/sk. Interesting how many weapon choices there are at the very high game for paladins, i guess to make up for the dearth while in the 40s and early 50s.

LOL I just got this nice weapon.. and my 2HB was like on 12 . LOL needless to say 2-3 Days later it is now on 204ish. So ahhh hello.. A level 60 pally will get 2HB up. Further more one of the Best Pally weapons " GOLDENROD" is 2HB so I would start working on 2HB if you slacks have the time there is a nice 7dam 30delay 2HB weapon easy to get to rasie this once useless skill..

hehe, If nerfed, there would be no reason to get it.
(BTW - I only had to add 256MB of memory to my comp to play SoL, and that was only to get all the new graphics. hehe)

Lots of good 2HB blunt options in the high end. I don't see why you would want to limit your weapon choices to slashing. My 2 previous weapons have been piercing and blunt. I'm 56 paladin. Not quite able to obtain this bad boy, but I'm keeping my options open.
I don't see any nerf sticks coming down the pipe on items like this. This guy is tough to take down.

Epics..
# Feb 01 2002 at 9:15 PM Rating: Decent
Whatever happened to Epics being best wep a class can get? I do remember them stating that clearly when they made em. Although Pally epic always had competition as well as alot of other epics when SoV came out,but they need to rethink epics I think, whats the point of killing yourself to get it when theres stuff out there better? /shrug makes no sense to me. Also ,how much farther can verant push items? Each expansion they make things more and more insane,to a point where it kinda makes game lame, that there so much powerful stuff out there. Back when eq first came out a weapon like a Yak was condsidered awesome, now theres crap like this out there, kinda takes idea of having exclusive rare powerful items when theres so many now.
RE: Epics..
# Feb 01 2002 at 10:54 PM Rating: Default
It's quite simple to explain. Epics came out when the max level was 50. If you remember, they also said they would never raise the max level. Well, they did. So, they needed to add an incentive to gain those levels.

Epics are best considered to be viable from 46-55. After 55, there are weapons such as these. But, as someone said below, the number of Paladins that actually have kept up their 2hb skill is rather low, and this weapon doesn't just drop off an orc pawn (ok, that was a bit of a exaggeration, but you got what I mean).

VI has also mentioned that they are looking into a way to upgrade epics (such as they did with the FA going to FD).
RE: Epics..
# Feb 02 2002 at 8:40 PM Rating: Decent
Have you ever met a level 46 person with an epic? Not very likely. Most people get their epic after level 50 if they get one at all, and I know some level 60s who are still working on them. I got mine at lvl 55. All of the epic quests are somewhat time consuming, and they require taking down level 60+ mobs.

Epics will last most people indefinitely. There are a fortunate few who end up replacing them with Temple of Veeshan or Sleeper's type loot depending on their class maybe, but they are the exception not the rule.

If you want to get your epic, join a good guild. If you want to get something better than your epic, you'll probably have to join the best guild on your server or close to it. (Best in terms of firepower for raids that is).

RE: Epics..
# Feb 01 2002 at 11:11 PM Rating: Decent
epics came out with kunark wich is when the lvl cap was raised.
RE: Epics..
# Feb 01 2002 at 11:25 PM Rating: Decent
The paladin 'epic' was firey avenger which then got a new upgrade as the firey defender. The epics themselves came out a long time after Kunark did as I remember it. It was never said anywhere by Verant directly or in game that epics would be the best weapon for a class ever (look at warrior epic hehe).

Btw...your epic will last you to 60, it's only not viable then if you are in a guild that can get you items from such places as ToV or Sleeper's tomb.
RE: Epics..
# Feb 03 2002 at 10:15 AM Rating: Default
I already know a few people that have tossed their epic's on tarew marr (about 500). Only one's that remain good after a while are all of the priest/caster (dunno what a necro's is), and maybe even swiftwind for rangers (this is for the people that have big guilds).

it certainly is overpowering to put it back on trakanon atleast.

guilds that are able to gain weapons like these could kill trakanon with one group.

trakanon is no longer the challenge he used to be. he certainly is still no cake walk for most people.

the risk/reward would be completely wrong if on trakanon.

guilds who get weapons like these are some of the most uber in the game and there server. trust me, what they fight to get weapons equivalent to ton po's bo stick makes trakanon look like a large rat.

Look...

You'll find that every weapon (except one or two, I think) that has a damage higher than it's delay is only usable by Paladins and ShadowKnights.

Why? Because Monks use a different hit & damage table than Paladins and ShadowKnights do.
RE: Starting Petition
# Feb 02 2002 at 12:36 AM Rating: Decent
Actually, there are 6 2hb's with higher dmg than dly that monks can use that I know of. There may be more (Luclin mobs might have them), but these have already been found:

1. Abashi's Rod of Disempowerment
2. Bo Staff of Trorsmang
3. Facesmasher
4. Priceless Velium Brawl Stick
5. Primal Velium Brawlstick
6. Shovel of the Harvest

Reintroducing Ton Po's Stick, so long as it was put on an appropriate mob, would not be unbalancing at all.

If you think that merely adding the word "actually" to a paragraph makes the statement condescending, perhaps you should buy a dictionary and look up the definition. I in know way intended my message to be construed in that fashion.

Now, as for your enlightened post concerning the existence of Priceless Velium Brawl Sticks, I can assure you they are very real. If you don't believe me, go to www.magelo.com (the only site worth referencing for gear imo), and look it up. While you are there, please check the dmg/dly on Primal Brawl Sticks too, as you will note they are now 45/44. Perhaps you were looking at an older picture of them.

I do so hope the preceeding will not be too difficult a task for you.

I myself can attest to the Facesmasher being Both real and a damned fine weapon.
Running around So Ro one day on Tallon I spotted an SG so I Snared/Root/Doted it and sat down to wait for my PP to drop. When over the crest of the Sand dune I was sittin on I see an Iksar Monk come a trotin. He was on me before I could stand up to run, and before I knew it, Whack Whack,
double hit for 364 and 364. I could see he had what looked like a Dark Ember in his hands so I was a bit surprised by the damage. Well, his Dark Elf Chanter friend Pillaged my Enchantments and then tossed a root at me which was totally unnecessary. As my plans for a speedy escape were at an end, I began to cast, well it doesn’t really matter what I began to cast, because with a few more loving strikes from his “New Toy” I was back at the Shadowhaven bank. As I started re-meming my So Ro port and congratulating him on beating me. I asked him what the heck it was he hit me with, and he said, proudly, “Facesmasher”. It’s a name I will never forget.

Am I reading this correctly???

Heal self for 180 points. Duration: Instant, Recovery: 2.5 seconds.

Does this mean the wielder can heal himself for 180 points evey 2.5 seconds!? Without consuming any melee time!!?? That's 4320/minute.

If so, holy cow. If anything can overshadow the 48/40 ratio, that would be it. Anything that can't output sustained damage well over 400 points/tick could be SOLOED by a pally with one of these, healing himself for 4000 points a minute while dealing heavy damage. Realistically, mobs dealing half again that much damage (say 6000/minute) probably couldn't stand the 48/40 heat long enough to win, with all the other stuff a pally can do.

Hardly anything I've tackled in a full group, as a level 47 warrior, would have a chance against a lone pally armed with this sword.

That'd rock! But I'm doubtful. Am I messed up about about how the effect works?

No it does not, what it means is that over 2.5 seconds, the user will be healed for 180 points, it's like a mini celestian heal proc.

The duration is instant, meaning its like any regular healing spell. It is not a HoT like celestial healing. Basically it has a chance of procing a 180 point heal each time you swing it.

Uhm, the post im looking at says triggered. Triggered means clickable. if it were a proc (as your post suggests) it would say random. So theoretically a pally could click this every 3 seconds or so for a free 180hps. wow. can you say soloing the way to Veteran and beyond?
