Never dropped once on our Ssra raids, and this was on a Random Loot server, so had way more chances to drop. Must be around a 0.01% drop rate or such.

Finally acquired MEMORY, after trying since Luclin went live. That's a long time!

I've been visiting SSRA at least once a month for years trying to find the key trigger mob up to start the Cursed Cycle. Unfortunately on FV there appears to be someone camping the zone 24/7 and probably waiting for the spawn. There is always an anon toon named FIND in the zone. I'm guessing a ranger, probably for max tracking. I went there a few days ago, The 6-day trigger spawn, Rhozth Rakezh, is not up but the other 9 trigger are. The only other toon in the zone is the aforementioned FIND. So disappointed once again, I ported back to PoK.

Many a time I've then checked the Bazaar on the unlikely chance someone has posted one on sale, seeing how the item is tradeable on FV.

Lo and Behold, someone has posted one up... and for the truly bargain price of 28,000 platinum pieces!

Hands trembling nervously, I clicked BUY and shortly thereafter heard the ka-ching as my money got expended to acquire said "very rare" item.

My enchanter Claere is now a very happy high elf. I have to test and make sure the effect works on high level mobs. I see no indication that it does NOT. But either way it's a rare item I've lusted for over more than 15 years. OK, maybe not every waking moment, but certainly at least once a month when I visit SSRA.

In case anyone is wondering, is 28K really a bargain?

Well, I would have paid 5 million plat for one, and I've offered that and been turned down at least once---the only time I ran into another player who owned this rarity.

Aside from the stats using this during those charm killing (aka cant find a group) sessions would be an invaluable tool freeing up a slot and saving you that much needed mana in case things go sour.
been there, seen it, killed it, now i own it

out of the several (dozen or more) times i have myself been to kill cursed, i have only seen it drop one time, and luckly koppa ( http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=546274 ) got it. which is my 65 enc, were we a time guild.. uh no, we were working our way up through VT and got cursed down pat to basically becoming a farm mob. if you dont have the skill for it, you will die cause his charm is awsome..

those of you still killing this guy for his Blood frenzy, good luck =) and some enc that is very lucky to also get this off of exile, congratz to you aswell cause it is a VERY rare item

Epic Vs Memory
# Aug 24 2003 at 12:07 PM Rating: Default
I see the arguement going down there...

Using this in range and Epic is secondary would be pretty... hot...

After mezzing mobs, you use your mana free memblur (Which is the strongest blur chanters get) and bam, you get back to whatever you where doing.

This is an awesome item, to bad most people will never see it...

Gratz to all who get it, Gratz to all who have the willpower to camp this

Kind of an old bump but who cares.

I still use this and my guild is close to PoTime. It can be used from inventory and always has been an invaluable tool. Sometimes I have to click it more than once. But unlike the memorised spell it has no recast time. I am the only enchanter in my guild with it and we still have enchanters who want it. If you get one consider yourself lucky. They are rare as hell to drop and most guilds will have long moved on before they get more than one or two.

The post about if you can do cursed you can do emp/vt was fairly amusing. Even though both encounters are severly gimp by todays standards they are still a world of difference. Cursed can be done with 2-3 groups. EMP 4 or 5 groups if you are good. VT not going to happen with that number of people. I don't care what your DPS is like. Unless you are one of the top guild on the sever with tons of elemental/time gear you are not going to beat respawn when trying to clear. Even if you are already decked out in VT gear. And in some cases where splitting 10 mob pulls are near immpossible you will get owned with a cursed event sized raid.

Except that if you actually played an enchanter youd know that half the time momory flux doesnt work so you have to con the mobs if they wouldnt normally have aggro or assist them to see if you are still their target... i think its a piece of **** considering also that any guild able to do cursed cycle should also be able to do emperor and therefore have acess to VT

Well, not exactly the graphics, but close...

Sorrow
or to stick to the chanter weapon theme.

And then the second one has a few choices, but not quite as close of a fit...

Vexthorne
Massive Heartwood Thorn
or stretching it a bit further, Sunflower Thorn

Its clickable from inventory ;) . So you can wear your epic (or better items) for right click speed and have the right click memblur available all the time.

That spell costs 350 mana if you cast it from spell slot and has a 3.5 Sec cast time and a 10 sec recycle time if i remember correct. That item has a 5 Sec cast time and you can click it again right away.

When you have a tank that cant get aggro after he brakes mezz just right click your stick, i like it.

I love upgrades. This is now 23/25 1hb melee ;) I can actually do some damage if I bother to melee.
And unless you have low int, this is better than enc epic. More mana, more hps, more AC. Only thing you lose is 5 int and a few saves. I use it instead of my staff of the serpent except when hasting melees.

If you're going to melee at all, personally I prefer to use a 20/20, +4 cold dmg, ice comet procing weapon... it gets much better results

Ah, the skull shaped wand, mucho grats on it. Tis wonderful for melee'ing if you can ever get it to proc during the fight. Also a good farming weapon imho.

#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 01 2002 at 12:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) FYI, its 0 casting time, instant recast like all click items... yeah tell me about it... I was there when it dropped...heh. I sent my tell but it got awarded over me, doh! I'd say clicking it about 5 times should give a good whipe. Maybe 10 if you really wanted to be sure heh.
RE: Casting time
# Feb 06 2002 at 2:50 PM Rating: Decent
It has about a 5 second cast time. How do I know? I have one. Thanks autoloot. So far the extent of my use is in Fungus Grove to make the plants forget the fools that get too close to them. I would use this more if it had better stats. Put the STA, STR, Fire & Cold resist that the enchanter epic has and I would use this. As it is it sits in my backpack.

Nice Item
# Jan 31 2002 at 10:31 PM Rating: Decent
As a level 57 Enchanter without her epic, (Laziness) this would be very nice.
Awesome AC (15 raw + lots of agi) for a primary hand item, and nice HP/MANA, on top of high int/cha/resists.

I currently use a Phenocryst's Focus in my primary hand and an Ornate Runed Sheild in secondary. This item is a whole lot better than Pheno Focus. The right click effect saves a spell slot, unless it is over a ridiculously long time like the Velious Quest robes (OK, I understand not wanting people to be able to keep mana free rune on tanks during a fight, but still, 36 seconds is a long time).

I think you are all missing the point where this would be the most useful. Powerlevelling another character.
RE: use
# Feb 01 2002 at 12:34 PM Rating: Default
This has been discussed on many boards...although mem blur spell line does remove you from the top of the hate list it is not a complete wipe. So if you get a mob down to 4 hp, mem blur it, then have the PL char hit it, you will still get the kill/exp. You still take faction hits etc. As far as I know, the only spell that completely wipes a hate list is atone.
RE: use
# Oct 23 2002 at 8:42 PM Rating: Default
All forms of memblur DECREASE agro, they do not wipe them. This means that if you work up a lot of agro, one memblur will not do the trick. However, if you get small agro, one memblur can be enough. Please note it is always a good thing to throw two or three memblurs on to make sure you wipe yourself from agro list. Btw, I'm not sure, but I think it decreases the agros of ALL on the agro list, meaning you can save someone else who accidentally agrod something... not sure though, correct me if I'm wrong.
RE: use
# Feb 23 2002 at 9:05 AM Rating: Excellent
"although mem blur spell line does remove you from the top of the hate list it is not a complete wipe." Absolutely false, don't know what boards you're reading. A successful memblur will remove you from the hate list completely. Try it out in Velks - when it works the mob goes back to being non-KOS.
RE: use
# Feb 01 2002 at 12:35 PM Rating: Decent
Unless you meant that it could be used to make a mob forget the PL char and attack someone else? That would be an awkward way to PL.
RE: use
# Feb 01 2002 at 1:29 PM Rating: Decent
I have powerleveled characters with my chanter easily before. You get the mob to low health. memblur 2x (just to be sure), then have the twink kill it. They get the xps. Works almost every time unless you cast on it or attack it after the memblur. And yes, memblur REMOVES you from the aggro list entirely. Also certain mezes have a blur component that can take effect.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 31 2002 at 6:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This thing would never get used on raids, maybe in a xp group in special circumstances. But raid? no way, instant death for your clerics. Why? think of it this way.. your a enchanter and your meleeing, Ch rotation is going down and your MT is set, then Memory Flux hits and a CH goes off right after. MT no longer has the taunt and your cleric dies.
RE: SoSo
# Jan 31 2002 at 7:54 PM Rating: Decent
I'd love to know what items most enchanters have that are better than this stat wise. There are only a few items I can think of that are even comparable to this item in stats. Epic for one...and possible one or 2 ToV/GE/Akheva drops. As a 56 enchanter, I typically use memblur (the level 12 version, not the 55 Mem Flux), quite a bit in groups. Adds get pulled, mez adds, tash/slow/etc, mem blur (much cheaper mana wise than mem flux, mem blur again assuming you have time. Sometimes mem blur doesn't stick. Oh well, it's more a convinience thing, than anything else, that will (hopefully) allow you to sit down after mez breaks. Having Mem Flux as a right click is extremely nice. No mana to use it, and I would assume the cast time is somewhat close to the recharge time of the real spell. If the cast time is too much, not worth using, but, if it's relatively low (say, 5 or 6 seconds), I would be using this item in my hand most of the time over the epic. Though, keep epic around for mana free haste, of course. ;)

First, you'll note that the item does not have a damage or delay. Which means you cannot melee with it.

Which is good, since putting proc based effects on caster weapons is just plain goofy.

So that means it has to be triggered, and yes I'll agree with you that enchanters coule very easily ***** up a raid by casting memblur at the wrong time.

But there are times when this could be useful. It's a level 55 spell which costs 350 mana, and is generally considered by the enchanter commnity to be junk. Put it on an item though like this, and it might get some use. Add tank down, cleric DA'd? pop this off. It's not the end all be all of anything, but it's a nice toy that actually has something to do with enchanters.

2 cases i can think of, out of the blue:
- mezzing and debuffing mobs, use the rod right after
- debuffing permarooted mobs, use the rod right after to not get summoned as soon as the MA engages.

Anyway, I'd leave it to the Chanter to decide whether this item is usefull or not.
let´s just hope it does not have 10 sec cast time
yah
# Jan 31 2002 at 5:47 PM Rating: Decent
Yah but would be nice to have both put epic in the backpack for the effect )
depends on cast time
# Jan 31 2002 at 5:37 PM Rating: Decent
Depending on cast time this item may be replacing the chanter epic for most of the time. It's a 350 mana memory blur with a very low resist rate.

Making it a free cast could be very powerfull unless the cast time is over, like, 6 seconds.
