Sad thing is, they are not much different than Incandescent Gloves which I have had since about level 20...
Lvl 45?!

These aren't bad gloves by any means, but for the level required to obtain them, it's just pointless. If you need to be at least 45 to get these, in the time you spend camping the items to finish the quest, you could be 46 and in PoH getting insidious armor. I agree with Serapho that these are a nice upgrade to the incandescent gloves (I would take coldain skin over them any day, or impskin if coldain is too pricey for you) but at the level they're obtained, they're useless, unless the person getting these, or any other twilight pieces, never plan on going to PoH or getting any of the Velious quest armors. If these were obtainable by the solo chanter around 40ish, they would be perfect. Those 6 levels from 40 to 46 can take some time, and these would be fun to do to break up the monotony while you're waiting to go to PoH/Kael/ToV or whatever.

stop denigrating those items, and remember that they are designed as pre-planar gears.
yes the quests are tedious and some better gears are much eaier to get
Do you think an enchanter lvl 40 50 is really usefull in a kael raid since he can only cast clarity, can't land a spell without being resisted 99% of the time, can't land a tash or nuke without getting a huge aggro due to his low level and can't charm a mob without risking insta death.
as far as i can see, these quests ae not for ubber gears, but just an upgrade of existing gears you can get by yourself without the help of your ubber friends
Why - Why - Why don't enchanters ever get anything worth whi
# Apr 03 2002 at 2:17 PM Rating: Good
I'm sorry, I'm usually defending Verant and the items that are available, but I don't know if I can defend this and I was really hoping it would be worth it. I have to ask, Why does verant make Enchanter stuff that no enchanter can possibly get without the help of people much higher level than they are to get it. Or when the enchanter is so high level that the item is virtually useless. This would be a great level 1 to 20+ item, but I can't see calling in my level 50 friends to help me get this. My third Coldain Shawl is much easier to get and imho as good or better.

Also, Why do so many items drop with such low Magic Resists. OK so I can make MR jewelry, great, but having been in raids to kill Vox and Naggy at level 44, I know how important resists are. By the time I can get stuff that I need, I'll be too high level to even raid Vox. What are they thinking. Also, why do they make things for enchanters SOOOO hard and SOOOO rare, that we can no way afford them if an Enchanter/Jeweler is your primary character. I can't make enough good resist jewelry because I can't afford to, because Jewel Craft is so expensive. And. :) Why do they make it so that you have to belong to an UBER guild to get your EPIC weapon and spells. OK so we're SUPPOSED to group, yeah, but my guild has like 30 people, 10 of whom are level 50+. We can no way do my epic or anyone else's. So we either have to quit a wonderful friendly guild that does work well together to join a huge impersonal, "my friends first" guild in order to get on the waiting list to get our epic.

PLEASE, if anyone from Verant is reading this, isn't there some way you can make it so those of us who like our smaller guilds can get our epics? I like the Stormhammer calendar section, could we do something like that for each server, so people could maybe request other smaller guilds to do the raid, or to enlist larger guilds for assistance.

I can really see why there are so few level 60 enchanters. So much for Class Balancing. I keep hearing about how powerful Enchanters are, and we can do some cool stuff. But every enchanter on the Dragon raids all get killed at least once, sometimes twice, because we agro so bad and our equipment sucks so much. Could you give us a break, please.

Wow, guy, get over yourself. I too like the smaller more intamate guild but this game is about being social. If your 30 people guild cant get the job done, then make friends with another 30 person guild. Together you can do what it takes. Or for big raids, host it and then get pick ups from anyone that wants to help.

As far as chanters not getting anythgin good or having the cost of JC too high to be useful, I will disagree with you there too. I have a 50 chantress that does just fine on her own. I NEVER have asked a guild for help on anything (excepting ports and whatnot) and my JC just hit 200. ITs about taking your time, enjoying your game, loving your friends and having fun. Find the money makers that are right for you and your style (if its a camp or a mob). If you lost that loving feeling, go play a druid - you will learn to love your chanter.

Get out there and make some friends. Before I left EQ for DAoC, my guild had all of 15 people in it, 4 of whom were over level 50. But, I had friends in 4 of the major guilds on the server... and of course, those friends had friends. So when one of my guildmates decided they wanted to do their epic, I got together with my friends, set the date, and we all met up there. And of course my friends brought their friends, and their friends brought friends. We ended up with 30 somethin people for Ixiblat, from 5 or 6 different guilds, and we took him down. The only epic that I don't think can be done without a dedicated guild that has a LOT of people is the cleric epic... simply because if you're not in a big guild, the other big guilds will just bump you aside like you weren't even there when Ragefire pops. All the other quests can be done as a "friend of a friend" deal. If you have a friend in an uber guild, just talk to em next time they head up to fear and see if they'll help you with your enchanter epic. That one part of the epic quest is the ONLY part I can think of that can't be done with 2 groups of 50's, and that's just because it's in fear.
HP/AC
# Apr 02 2002 at 11:20 PM Rating: Decent
Stick with HP's. AC is useless, raise your AC by 200 and you will still get hit for double or triple 170's plus. Raise your HP's 400 and you will survive a tick longer which may be enough to get that stun off or for someone to regain agro.

AC?
# Mar 03 2002 at 10:24 PM Rating: Decent
Am I missing something here or aren't there much higher AC and INT gloves that you can get in the 50's?

Thurgadin quest armor gloves are better AC and INT. Or is the level posted to get these just way high?
AC Yes!
# Feb 28 2002 at 8:43 AM Rating: Decent
I'm a 56 enchanter on Terris Thule. Currently, my int is max 255 and charisma is 249. Really, all you need is int with 240+ and cha with 220+ because I haven't seen a real difference after that. Therefore, either switch to AC or mana gear. I like AC because the higher I get it, I can get it up to 745, the less hard I get hit which is easier on the cleric.

#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 25 2002 at 4:43 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Are you guys kidding me? An Enchanter looking for AC Stuff? If Variant wanted the chanter to have AC, they would've made stuff WITH AC. Hint for ya, if you're level 60 without INT or CHA of over 200, you suck - plain and simple. We have the RUNE series of spells to stop damage completely enough for us to get off a color series (stun) and then a mezz or just the mezz itself.

People make fun of the idea of a "Tank-Chanter" all the time... but you know... I would LOVE to have a full set of Golden Efreeti armor and a Rod of Annihilation. I would give up every ToV drop just to be the only enchanter in a full set of Gold Platemail with a 60 dmg 40 delay Stick o' Death. Too bad the Rod of Annihilation doesn't drop anymore :(

I like to call them Variant as well, as you can't count on anything from VI.
On a more relative note-I have no idea how hard these are to obtain, but I would imagine they a bit more easy than any Thurg/Kael/ect quest armor and the stats reflect that. Also, I have friends that call this game "Never-Quest" as there are so many broken/incomplete quests, or quests that are outrageously difficult to complete that they have given up on doing quests. Sometimes I empathize with them, sometimes I don't. For me it depends on how I feel about the game in general-sometimes I like to RP and other times I find it too difficult to do because either the game dymanics inhibit it or the players around me don't get it/aren't into it.
Just my 2cp.

AC useless

AC is soft capped. Enchanters will ALWAYS get hit for full damage no matter what lvl they are or how high the AC is they are wearing. VI designed them specifically that way, quoting 'Enchanters are a Group Class. They get more spells than any other class and so we had to compensate by reducing certain aspects of the character type.' Therefore I concentrated my gear all the way towards Hit points. It is possible to bring a chanter's hit points nearly to 3K with the right gear. I myself have just over 2K hits, topped with RUNE 4 from my BR and Berserker Spirit. Top that with 200+ Charisma and I can clean Sebilis on my own,(using charm). sure, charm breaks every now and then, but with 2K hit and rune up you have plenty of time to stun and root for recharm.
RE: AC useless
# Feb 14 2002 at 4:48 PM Rating: Default
If you can solo Sebilis all by yourself, with charm, and that ever-useful Rune IV (gag), then more power to you. What color is the sun in your world?

AC is never useless, ever, and enchanters DO NOT get hit for max damage, regardless. What an idiotic concept. Do you always get hit for the maximum damage a mob can inflict? Always? No, you don't, and neither do the rest of us.

AC is always a good thing. We can't focus on it, obviously, but the additional armor class on any and all objects is something any smart enchanter would welcome.

Back to the subject at hand, these gloves are mediocre at best. If the effort to obtain them was easier, then I'd have a better opinion of them.

Good luck, and good travels. =)

And, ahh... according to this:

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/userinfo.html?char=193957

You have a hell of a lot less than 2k hit points.

That CAN'T be up to date. Braided ivy cords on a 54 enchanter? + WIS?

Yea AC is Useless, you have to be kidding me.HP and AC are very important to an Enchanter. When you get hit with AE Lures and your Clr is doing Group Heals and trying to keep you MT alive, and you Die maybe its time to invest in some AC/HP gear.Works for me but hey,its really not the gear rather then the player playing the Toon.

Uhm lets see AC is VERY important to enchanters ..hmm stuns are AE, hmm we crowd control hmmm, i think that means even if mezzes/stuns fail we have to find a way to keep the agro off the others in our group til they can deal with the mobs..hmmm..enchanters have the hp base of small children even at high levels...what but ac is going to save us out there while the cleric is ch'ing the main tank? Less hits =less death. AC is my favorite stat on many items that i could have up-graded for a small int/cha bonus and chose not to because darn it ..I want to live!
nice ugrade
# Jan 31 2002 at 8:23 AM Rating: Default
this is a nice ugrade of the incandescent gloves, though it has less AC but which enchanter care about AC, and the +3 int is nice.

interesting upgrade while waiting on planar or velious gears
