After camping the GD cave room with the 4 crystalline shardwurms and over 100 kills (no spell drop) the Shardwurm Matriarch finally spawned and we dropped her very easily with a group of 5 level 52s. Sure enough, the Improved Superior Camo spell dropped on her with the 1st kill.
I'm beginning to believe that the regular crystalline shardwurms may not drop this but rather its the matriarch. Rare spawn indeed - only saw her once in 3 nights.

I heard you could get this spell, improved superior camouflage, off of the Crystalline Shardwurms. Perhaps, but if so it is VERY RARE! I have killed close to 120 or more of the crystallines and never seen it drop. Then again I only got the paladin spell one time so it is entirely possible it does drop. Of course I have come to the conclusion that there is an unseen stat called LUCK! You will see shortly why i say this. I started keeping track eventually out of curiousity. Here is what dropped and how often.

---i was grouped with a necro for the first run, i had the odd loot turns he had even. It wasn't untill the 17th kill that i got a spell!! hehe he had 6 spell drops by that time! And a gem! I had two sets of crappy legs and some coin. Anyway run two i did solo.
---Second run:1-S7, 2-C, 3-C, 4-C, 5-S2&S4, 6-T&S2, 7-C, 8-C, 9-S4, 10-26 was all coin only.
---Third run: 1-SS, 2-8 coin only!!! bad run of luck.
During this three weeks of trying to get the spell I managed to kill the shardwurm matriarch three times. It appears she has a spawn time of around 3 days real life time. (estimate, may be 2 to 2 and a half) The first time she dropped three spells and the dagger thats like 10dam 22 del with some minor add to a single stat. Second time she dropped lame bracer and three other spells. The third time she dropped the sup imp camo finally!! WOOT!! She is a cleric type caster!! In the first battle i had a 56 necro with me (53 Druid) and she CH'd three times, but due to fear she left the area and necro chased. She came back and after regrouping we threw ourselves at her again. This time we feared her around 35 to 40%. The fear wore off to soon and she CH'd herself again. We beat her down and feared her again and killed her this time. If you fear her when she is low she won't try to heal. Second time i saw her i was solo and i asked a high level sk for help, he brought along a friend cleric and they ran and attacked and agroed a few of the side crystallines but we won out. The third time i got lucky and a 65 sk was in zone and he came in and helped me make short work of her. She managed to CH once in this battle, the sk feared a bit soon and it wore off alowing her to heal herself. Fear seems to be the trick with this mob. If your going after the crystallines for the spell, i wish you luck! at least better than i had! But, be prepared to spend some time there. BTW as a 53 druid with around 250 wis (w/kei) i was able to do 3 of the 4 crystallines with no problem. I just worked my way around the room circularly. Pulling the next one to the spot of the one i just killed. Using root, snare then Winged death, ro's, drifting death, and es vambraces. Eventually i would have to skip a worm for mana to recover. Also sometimes i would have a tough one and get low on hp around 15 to 25 percent but for the most part i was almost never below 75%. Good hunting!

i now hear that you can resurch this spell. how ever the only findings that i have is that there are only 2 components. is this possible?? i have never been a pure caster so i have no clue. any information on this is appricieated.
Drops off any crystaline shadowurm. Been there, done that, a lot.

If you stay at the mouth of the tiny little tunnel that connects to the cavern with 4 of the crystaline shardwurms, you only have to worry about 1 add. The add is an elder shardwurm.
Start at oposite end of the river tunnel from Thurgadin to get to them. There are 2 wurms that SEE INVIS. Both are only elder shardwurms, but there's another problem. In the caves coming from Thurg end, the mob that sees invis has many more adds around, and they are higher level (mostly ancient shardwurms).
If you invis, and time it right, the elder shardwurm that sees invis in the caves coming from the oposite end of tunnel from Thurg can be single pulled, and dispatched. This makes the trip through the caves easier.
Once you get to the cavern, face out into the cavern. If you pull left close, right close, left far, right far, they will single pull. Once the spawn cycle is broke, the camp is cake.
Improved see invis dropped after about 2 hours keeping the cavern cleared. 2 Translocate: Group dropped, and 1 of every other spell first.
Great camp for shardwurm claws, and shardwurm teeth, as well. Still have to look up what they're used for..
White Dragonscale Tunic drops off the Crystaline Shardwurms, and also a piercing weapon.. The tunic is great for a VERY young wizzy or necro.
Not much else to say about this camp... Was easier than I expected, but then again, I had great help with me 8)

Ok, this spell does drop off the Crystalline Shardwurms in the Great Divide cavern. It is just VERY rare. Frustrated I spent almost a week in GD trying to solo the camp, once I brought a group of 45-52's to help. We got almost one or two of every other spell, no druid spells except Circle of Wakening Lands. Finally I got a good friend of mine to come help me ( Thanks Malya ! ) and me and her pet proceeded to own the crystallines faster than they could fill the 4 point spawn in the cave. ( Havin a 60+ mage with her pet helped IMMENSELY! ) I was resigned at that time to waiting for the matriarch to spawn as I had heard that only that named mob had the spell. After clearing out the 4 spawns for about an hour, we killed the 3rd one of the four and I could NOT BELIEVE MY EYES ! Spell: Improved Superior Camo !! Talk about a fantastically happy druid =P So all it takes is not giving up. It does drop, it's just VERY rare. Hope this helps. -Whasats Helpsalot, 52 Druid, Prexus Server

No it's tradable, the main problem is on the few occasions it's available for purchase in the bazaar it's priced ridiculously high. The least I've seen it for recently is 5Kpp and frankly it's not worth 5Kpp.

I got my copy of this spell off of a crystalline wurm and I even lost on the roll the first time the spell dropped. You definately dont need to go for the matriarch to get it, but if the drop rate is faster than it might be worth it. The two times I personally was in a group that got the sup camo to drop was bout aug-sep 02 time frame; so I cant say for sure if there was a loot table change. Verant/Sony like to do that pretty often and we just get the pleasant/unpleasant suprise that the loots are different for a mob yer huntin.
I hunted the Crystal Shardwurms in GD for 3 solid days -- over 10 hours each day.
I got over 50 50th level spells... EVERY SINGLE CLASS but Druid dropped.
I have hunted in Velks many times and seen all sorts of spells drop there on occasion but I have never seen this spell drop.
VI must really hate Druids to take our 1 50th level spell and make it so extraordinarily rare a drop spell.

Do yourself a favor and kill the matriarch in GD, me and a friend have killed her twice and both have the spell now
