Silly question

If an enchanter cast this on themselves, could they do the Shar Val citizinship quest? Assuming you had no deity issues, of course.

I'm just a curious non-enchanter.

To the person that said nobody would pay 10k for this - Maybe, but i've sold 2 copies for 8k each in the last week so never be too sure.
where? what?

This spell drops in the Ssraeshza Temple off of Zhroushe Mezhkazh who is level 58.
2 months and a lot of patience, but finally got this spell.
# Jan 30 2003 at 11:18 AM Rating: Excellent
It only took killing him 3 times to get the spell, but with him being a rare spawn those 3 deaths were spread over 2 months. I only camped him 2 times for a few hours a pop, but that didn't work. It was only when I just started running over to Ssra every few days to check on him that I started seeing him up.

If I didn't have project illusion I wouldn't have even bothered with him though. Really silly to have this spell so rare. At least it's only 10 mana though... /sigh
Perhaps for safefall

Well with the illusions you get the benfits of certain races. So I guess maybe you would want it for the safefall, but by the same token just turn into an air elemental and float. *shrug* I guess I agree with the "bragging rights" theory.

Unfortunately, to my knowledge you don't even get the safe fall skill with that illusion. I guess the bragging rights factor is the basic gist of it.

Why is this spell such a high level? Is it that great of an advantage to be able to Illusion into a Vah Shir? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I love the way non chanters are commenting on the spell.

The Illustion Froglok assists with a new PoP quest where u have to go into upperguk and see an old Froglok there .. anyone who has been there knows that zone is the WORST for Green Agro .. and yes a MOBB of green frogies kills a chanter (or others) very easy ..

The froggs are like marines .. "WE DON'T CARE HOW MANY OF US DIE .. U GONNA DIE TOO AND THEN WE WIN -- AND WINNING IS ALL WE CARE ABOUT! ! !"

As for the other .. it can help too .. just don't know the actuall practical use of it yet.

49 enchanter, I can walk all over upper guk without any agro. I never ever killed anything in upper guk, but in lower guk on the undead side I killed many. Doing so increases your faction with the live frogs which thats all that upper guk consists of. No need for a froggy illusion here.

Dude, if you want to make analogys at least know what the fu*ck your talking about. Marines are not the cold hearted sick bast*ards that run in and get blown away just to win dumba*ss. At least make a comment where its not going to offend such a large portion of people out there, escpecially the ones that sacrificed their lives so you can enjoy yours.

This spell is pretty much a cruel joke by VI. Illusions are used to give faction adjustments, allowing people who are normally KoS to wander in other cities. Or, they give some stat bonus (e.g., Troll: regen, Air Elemental: Levitate). Not all are good adjustments, such as making you KoS to the werewolf hunters in NK with Illusion: Werewolf.

Kitty City is nonKoS to all races, so faction adjustment is really not needed. Not only is the spell high level, but the place it drops and the rarity of the drop mean that most lvl 60 enchanters will not have it. And noone is going to pay 10,000pp for it.

Maybe VI put in an easier quest to get it and is now laughing at us that we haven't discovered it.

The spell's more for bragging rights than anything else, like the new lvl 65 spell Illusion Froglok. It's mainly to say "Look what I got, I can make myself look like a Vah Shir!" And since nobody has a racial problem with vah shir (though devout evils don't like their religion) it makes your race portion of your initial faction neutral with anyone. Which can be quite useful, mainly to dark elf enchanters. Though any illusion that makes them look like a non-evil race has the same effect, essentially.

Basically, Verant put this in for:
1. Sake of consistency. There already were illusion spells for every existing playable race, despite the fact not all were really needed, so they threw in vah shir, too.
2. Bragging rights. The fact the spell is so rare and hard to get makes an enchanter with it quite impressive.
3. Just for fun. Being able to use various illusions is part of the fun of being an enchanter, even if some aren't as practical as others.

So it's not really a cruel joke. Maybe not the most useful spell, but you'd better believe a lot of enchanters will want it anyway, for the novelty and fun of it if for no other reason.

arent erudites kos in shar val?
if not, dont you think they should be?

Why would Erudites be KOS in Shar Vahl no one is, why should they be KOS? they didn't do anything against the kittys so therefor they shouldn't be KOS

Actually they did. The reason that Shar Vahl is on Luclin is that the Erudites blew it off the face of Norrath, taking the Vah Shir leaders with it and leaving the Kerrans behind.
I always found it odd that the Vah Shir don't mind Erudites, when the Kerrans so very definitely do ;)

You shouldn't find it odd. The vah shir were never targets of the erudites, they simply had the misfortune of getting caught in the crossfire in the civil war that broke out among them. The result being the entire city of Vah Shir (the city is what the race named themselves after) was blasted to the moon. It happened so suddenly that the surviving vah shir had no idea the erudites were involved. I'm sure they may have found ouy now, but as those responsible never did it intentionally, and at any rate are long dead anyway, I dsoublt the vah shir hold much of a grudge anymore, if they ever did.

The kerrans are another story. Once the dust settled and the war ended, the erudites, both those of Erudin and of the newly founded Paineel, began driving out the kerrans (who were essentially the lower classes of the outskirts of Vah Shir City) out to Kerra Ridge, Kerra Isle, and Erud's Crossing. And they still actively drive out any kerrans who try getting close to what used to be their homeland. So the kerrans definitely have a reason for a more active hatred of the erudites than do the vah shir.

What's weird is that Vah Shir start with 40 skill in Erudite and no other languages by Vah Shir and Common.

They actually start out masters of Vah Shir (their native language), Combine (obviously learned this by being in contact with the remnants of the Combine Empire on Luclin) and Common ( a trade tongue developed by human merchants that all races know well). It's not farfetched that before the desaster that put the Vah Shir on the moon that they'd have at least some contact with the neighboring erudites, so have at least rudimentary knowledge of their language. I find nothing weird about their language proficiencies, they seem quite logical.

And to correct you, they start with only 25 skill in Erudian, not 40.
